Requirements:

- Take a full Nandroid Backup from TWRP.
- Make sure your device is at full battery charge.
- Warranty of your device may void by custom ROMS.

How do we get to these lists, you ask? Tracking Samsung's Android updates over a long period of time makes it clear that many series and devices always receive two major OS updates before proceeding with a security update. However, as stated above, this rule does not quite hold true for most of the Galaxy J series, as well as some other devices.
We will update the lists above over time as we receive new information or as information becomes available elsewhere. We haven't included devices that have already stopped receiving major OS updates, such as the Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Note 4, even though they still receive new security patches regularly. Other devices not on this list will be added when we have information available to report.
The last thing we should note is that we are certainly not Samsung. This list is in no way based on official information and only lists our predictions and not Samsung's official update policy. What new features and improvements await us in Android 8.0:
Improved Keyboard
There is a new panel for accessing various functions. GIFs can now be inserted into the input field. Added a new set of Emoji 5.0. Nougat had only one keyboard theme, Oreo will have four.
New edge glow effects
There's more room for Edge lighting, which debuted on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and is available on all Samsung Infinity flagships. When a notification arrives, you can choose from 3 new effects: multi-color (spins around the display in different colors), edge highlighting and a glitter effect that displays different colors at the same time. As in Nougat, it will be possible to adjust the width and transparency. The initial effect in which you can choose the color of the glow will also be available.
Control over notifications
The Clear All button is useful for clearing all notifications with a single tap, but Oreo will give you the option to delete, as well as which notifications to display and which can be delayed for up to two hours (for example, multiple messages from WhatsApp groups). To configure, you will need to swipe left or right on the notification and select the appropriate time delay (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours).
Dual Messenger became a standard feature
Dual Messenger allows you to run a clone of a social network application under a different account and they will work at the same time. By enabling Dual Messenger, for example, for WhatsApp or Facebook (does not support multiple accounts), you will see 2 versions of the same application (the second will have a chain icon in the lower right corner) and since they operate completely separately from each other (accounts different), you can use them in Multi Window mode. You need to look for this function here: menu " Settings" - "Additional functions".
App shortcuts now have five options
App shortcuts are familiar to us from Nougat, but they have undergone some changes in Oreo. What is an application shortcut? - This is when you press and hold on the application icon with your finger, as a result of which a list with additional options appears. Through it, you can remove a shortcut or application, select some useful features, or get information about the application. They now allow users to quickly launch common or recommended tasks in the app. The maximum number of these parameters is five. For example, with a shortcut, Google Maps will allow users to quickly chart their way home, and YouTube will launch a "Trendy" section. The list can contain five options, in addition to deleting a shortcut and an application (they will now be located in a horizontal bar above the list).
Gallery albums can be hidden
Through the ellipsis in the gallery menu, you can select "Hide Albums" and they hide. Of course, this will not add much security, since in the same way they can be returned to visibility, but there will still be a little secrecy. For better security, you can continue to use private mode, or choose the "Safe Folder" feature if you need to keep important data separate.
New feature to work with Samsung DeX
A new feature for DeX is the ability to use your smartphone as a mouse if you don't have one to work with the docking station. When this mode is enabled, the phone will display a black and white screen where you can move your finger, emulating mouse movements, and there is a button at the top for clicks.
Color selection for folders
If you have a lot of applications installed, it is best to sort them into folders - this makes it easier to find. And to better navigate the folders, Oreo has the ability to colorize them. Clicking on the icon next to the folder name will bring up a list of available color options. Choose the one you need - click "Finish" and it will be "filled" with the selected color.
Settings Menu Changes
In the search bar for settings, it will now be possible to clear the history of requests. In Oreo, the phone number, device model number, serial number, and IMEI are displayed at the top of the " About phone», and battery status and information are available as a regular list just below. It seems that Samsung is starting to change the location of options in the settings menu and something else may change by the release.
