Phones with QWERTY keyboard. Modern push-button smartphones: not a single sensor Mobile phone with a keyboard

A few years ago, there were already phones with sliding qwerty keyboards from such companies as Motorola, HTC, Nokia. However, touch screens became much more popular for input and these models were not in demand. Despite the fact that they are a thing of the past, many users are nostalgic for physical keyboards, which are so lacking in smartphones.

Many companies such as Samsung, Huawei, LG, Xiaomi are seriously developing new projects. The British company F (x) tec, which previously existed under the name Livermorium, was no exception. At the beginning of 2019, she announced her intention to bring back the features that users love from old phones. The F(x)tec Pro 1 is the first device to feature a qwerty keyboard and will be released in July.

Slider smartphones can seem heavy and large. However, this is offset by the presence of a physical keyboard. On one side of the phone are the volume rocker, the on/off button, and the camera shutter button. On the other hand, there is a sliding keyboard with soft buttons. At the bottom are stereo speakers and a USB port. The headphone jack the developers chose to make at the top.

Keyboard comfort

Despite the fact that the keyboard looks small, it performs a lot of functions. Among them:

  • convenient typing;
  • navigation through the device using arrows;
  • there is no need to search for the desired characters;
  • realistic similarity with a computer keyboard.

In addition, the folding system allows you to take up less space, while using a full qwerty keyboard.

Microchip

F(x)tec used the Snapdragon 835 microchip in their development. The reason for the embedding is the incredible battery saving effect. It is not only powerful and fast, but also consumes energy correctly. At the same time, the manufacturer made a compromise, taking an average quality chip in order to reduce the price of the device. By pre-order, this device will cost 43 thousand rubles. In the future, its price will decrease.

Who needs a slider smartphone with a keyboard

Smartphones with slide-out keyboards have existed before. They belonged to business-class phones, their price was high, and their performance did not differ, and sometimes lagged behind others. 2019 has been a renaissance year for them. The new sliders are high performance, well built, comfortable and affordable.

These phones are suitable for people:

  • who often correspond on social networks and by mail;
  • appreciating originality and individuality;
  • those who prefer convenience and comfort when typing.

Interesting fact! The company announcing the release of this smartphone was inspired by previously created Nokia phones: E70 and N900.

Advantages and disadvantages

Modern slider smartphones with a qwerty keyboard are a special category of devices. They have well-adapted, powerful-chip operating systems that are meant to be used to their full potential. Their heavy weight is offset by the presence of a real keyboard with soft buttons.

People are used to dividing mobile phones into two types: smartphones and regular handsets. In the public subconscious, a smartphone is a touch-screen device running Android or iOS. Ordinary telephone - a telephone with a standard telephone button layout, with an asterisk and a hash mark at the bottom. But there is a third type, which is exactly between these two. These phones don't always support touch screens and certainly don't have a 3x4 key grid. Such phones have a so-called qwerty keyboard. They did not think about the name for such a keyboard for a long time. Just look at the standard keyboard and read the letters from left to right, starting with Q. Such mobile devices do have a full-fledged computer keyboard.

The qwerty keyboard appeared solely for convenience and did not pursue any commercial goals. In the days of Nokia 3310, when the user only had to enter the first name, last name and phone number in the phone book, the standard layout of 12 buttons suited everyone. But time passed, phones evolved and there were more functions. Support for social networks and e-mail appeared. Typing text on such a telephone keypad was inconvenient and could take quite a bit of time. So the idea was born to create a layout that people would quickly get used to. Such that typing long messages or e-mails has become easy and convenient, like a standard computer keyboard. One of the pioneers in this area were BlackBerry smartphones from Research In Motion. They can be called veterans of keyboard phones. Later, similar devices began to be produced by other large offices, such as Samsung, Nokia and others. Each of them brought something different: a phone with a qwerty keyboard and support for a touch display or a sliding keyboard (slider)

One of the brightest examples of a touch smartphone with a qwerty keyboard is a device from Samsung Corporation - Y PRO / DUOS. A unique phone of its kind, but it has many shortcomings that will not allow the smartphone to win a wide audience. No matter how strange it may sound, the main drawback of the model is the qwerty keyboard. It is designed in such a way that it is impossible to hit the button you need the first time. The next significant disadvantage is that when working with most Android applications, the interface rotates 90 degrees, so you have to hold the phone in a horizontal position and thus press the buttons (which are already difficult to hit). Perfect for people with iron nerves. As for the touch screen, it is present, but the quality of this sensor is below average. The reaction of the device to touch takes a long time. Yes, and click on the application icons on such a small screen is quite difficult.

On the plus side, the price is good. could be purchased for $130. Despite the fact that the case is made entirely of plastic, there are no complaints about the assembly of the device. Everything is done at the highest level. Yes, and the good old Android will appeal to many fans of both Samsung and Android itself.

slider with qwerty

Slider with qwerty - these are phones, the qwerty-keyboard of which is hidden under the case. One of the representatives . This model, like other similar ones, has a significant flaw. It is not clear for whom this smartphone is made. If the calculation was made for businessmen, then there are many shortcomings in corporate applications. For people who are chasing prestige and following the trend line, a keyboard will be superfluous. Perhaps for ordinary users who just need the phone to ring and send messages. However, sliders tend to ring very quietly, and the vibration is just for show. There was simply no place for a good speaker and vibration module because of the keyboard inside. Moreover, the interlocutor may not hear the opponent if he is standing on a noisy street.

Best qwerty phones

undisputed leader and an example of the quality of a phone with a qwerty keyboard is RIM's device, the BlackBerry Bold 9900. There are no equals in the field of BlackBerry push-button phones, and the Bold 9900 is a vivid confirmation of this. The keyboard is made at the highest level. Do not get tired of writing sms or long e-mails. Fingers will never miss the right button. You never tire of admiring the assembly of the model. The quality of the picture on the screen pleases the eye. Everything is clear and balanced. The screen itself is good too. Only 2.5 inches, but gives good quality. In a word, the Bold 9900 is worth the money that is required for it in stores. The disadvantages include a weak camera, but buying a BlackBerry device for the sake of a camera is extremely unreasonable.

Also of interest are the models Samsung Duos C3222, Nokia N7, Fly Q200 and a number of others. These phones have many fatal flaws that will bring any line to the grave. The fact is that these producers did not know exactly which audience to target. They sculpted somehow, but in the end the models turned out to be a complete failure. But there is always something good. Some turned out to be an interesting design, others surprised with non-standard large keys on the keyboard. But these moments do not save the overall picture, and such models were expected to fail.

Conclusion

So who will use phones with a qwerty keyboard? The answer is obvious - for those who like to print. For those who want to feel under their fingers a pleasant bulge of the keys, and not the cold sterility of the touch screen. One problem - finding a decent phone in this genre is becoming increasingly difficult. It can be assumed that smartphones with qwerty keyboards will be convenient for people whose activities involve continuous typing. Typing a large amount of text on the run is not very convenient from the touch screen. It is much more convenient to do this with qwerty. You can also advise buying such a phone for those who are used to sending messages without stopping or tweeting every 15 minutes. For those whose lives are not connected with gigantic volumes of text, they can do without such a device.

Top 3 Smartphones of 2014

It is difficult to buy a smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard in 2019. In fact, the brand is exclusively engaged in the production of such devices. I am pleased with the fact that he makes them very high quality. Some of the models included in the rating of the best were released a long time ago, but even today they offer buyers good opportunities and are sold on various sites. Those users who are focused on the most modern and relevant devices should immediately scroll through the list to the end - the last two gadgets were released in 2018 and there is nothing newer for sale as of March 2019.

If you go to an electronics store, you will definitely pay attention to one fact. The vast majority of modern phones do not have a numeric or QWERTY keyboard. All of them are faceless in appearance, since most of the front panel is occupied by a touch screen. Where are the buttons? Why have smartphones with keypads become a rarity? The first smart devices could not be imagined without a keyboard. For example, the 9210 Communicator was made in the form of , many physical buttons were hidden inside it.

A little later, Nokia N-Gage and Siemens SX1 were released. These are very different smartphones, but they both had a certain number of keys. In the mid-2000s, PDAs and communicators began to appear on store shelves, in which the number of buttons was reduced to a minimum. They were controlled by pressing different areas of the touch screen. But the real revolutionary in this area was Apple, the first to release a touchscreen smartphone, which is incredibly easy to master.

Interestingly, the first Android devices were smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard. In particular, the first commercial model was Dream, which had a sliding block with keys. Devices of this type have been produced for several years. But later, almost all manufacturers abandoned this form factor. There are several reasons for this:

  • Google recommends (but does not mandate) keeping the number of physical keys to a minimum.
  • Smartphones with keypads are often large and heavy.
  • Such devices are less reliable.
  • Touch control is actually simpler than push-button control.

BlackBerry Prive

  • Operating system: Android 5.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 (6 cores, 1.8 GHz)
  • Memory: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 5.43 inches, 2560 x 1440 dots

Price: from 22 990 rubles.

In 2016, the blackberry company unexpectedly released a push-button smartphone on Android, forgetting about its own operating system. This has benefited the BlackBerry Priv, as its customers can install a huge number of applications, while the Canadian operating system offers a very modest choice.

With the characteristics of the device, everything is in order. The smartphone has a good processor and sufficient RAM. All this allows you to run even very heavy programs and games. At the same time, the keyboard does not interfere at all, since it is implemented according to the retractable principle - most of the time you simply do not see it. A slider with a QWERTY keyboard is not only convenient, but also original.

It should be noted that this is the last device from the Canadian brand, which was produced at the facilities of BlackBerry itself. In the future, the creation of smartphones under this brand was assigned to the trademark - TCL. BlackBerry Priv upsets only the high price and plastic case. But it is quite possible to put up with the second drawback, because it provided the device with at least some sane mass (192 grams).

Advantages

  • High resolution AMOLED display.
  • 18-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture.
  • Convenient slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
  • LTE support.
  • Support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac.
  • Long battery life.

disadvantages

  • Old version of android.
  • Some people will find it hard.
  • Very high cost.

BlackBerry Q10

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon S4 Plus (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, AMOLED, 720 x 720 dots

Price: from 12,990 rubles.

This smartphone is made in a traditional form factor. Its main difference from most modern ones is the QWERTY keyboard present here. All buttons have a short, but noticeable finger stroke, so that the text is typed very quickly. It should also be noted the high build quality - usually a smartphone does not lose its presentation even after a year of use.

The screen of such a device cannot be large. But the Canadians managed to significantly increase the resolution, so that the display contains a lot of controls and a variety of information. There is an NFC chip in the model, but within the operating system installed here, it is practically useless. It is noteworthy that the screen of the device was created using AMOLED technology. Organic light-emitting diodes significantly save energy, as a result of which the device has to be charged every one and a half to two days. You can only find fault with the operating system, which can now safely be called outdated.

In 2019, a true fan of correspondence will like the model, which is much more convenient on than a touch counterpart.

Advantages

  • No noticeable pixelation.
  • Strong data encryption.
  • Good 8-megapixel camera.
  • Classic QWERTY keyboard.
  • Not the shortest run time.

disadvantages

  • A limited operating system.
  • Weak stuffing.
  • High price.

BlackBerry Passport

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AA (4 cores, 2.2GHz)
  • Memory: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, 1440 x 1440 dots

Price: from 20 999 rubles.

It is a symbol of its era. The latest device built on the basis of the BlackBerry OS operating system. Its creators decided to abandon the already traditional design, maximizing the width of the device. As a result, they managed to endow the smartphone not only with a fairly comfortable QWERTY keyboard, but also with a screen that has actually become a classic – until 2019, BlackBerry adhere to a 4.5-inch matrix. One can only regret that AMOLED technology had to be abandoned. Because of this, the battery life did not become higher (although the battery capacity increased), and the color reproduction was not so good.

In fact, this is the best push-button smartphone based on BlackBerry OS. Inside it are good components, and therefore the user does not encounter slowdowns, and all applications are loaded almost instantly. The main camera, which has a 13-megapixel sensor and images, should also please. Well, support for LTE-A of the fourth category contributes to very fast data transfer. Finally, it will keep its perfect appearance for many years. Surprisingly, with all this, the device weighs no more than 196 grams.

Advantages

  • Work in LTE-A networks.
  • Good display resolution.
  • Decent accessories.
  • Housing made of metal and plastic.
  • The main camera is supplemented with an optical stabilizer.
  • Not the highest price.

disadvantages

  • Some buyers will find the weight too heavy.
  • The front camera is weak - 2 megapixels.

BlackBerry Porsche design P'9983

  • operating roomsystem: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, 720 x 720 dots

Price: from 44,500 rubles.

Perhaps this is the most beautiful device with smartphone features among those with a QWERTY-keyboard. Although the device is far from new, it still has a large amount of memory. It is also impossible not to note the possibility of data transfer via LTE networks, which sometimes even modern devices do not have.

The main camera is 8 MP. The resolution of the front camera was suddenly increased to 2 megapixels, which is quite unexpected for the Canadian company. Of course, such a camera cannot be used for shooting, but it is quite possible to organize video communication with its help. It's hard to imagine a BlackBerry Porsche design P'9983 owner who doesn't have enough of that. And if so, a card slot will come to the rescue.

Advantages

  • Stylish metal body.
  • LTE support.
  • Large amount of memory.

disadvantages

  • Not the longest running time.
  • Outdated operating system.
  • Incredibly high cost.

BlackBerry Keyone

  • Operating system: Android 7.1
  • CPU: MSM8953 (8 cores, 2 GHz)
  • Memory: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display:

Price: from 21500 rubles.

All of the above devices were released at a time when BlackBerry was a company in its own right. In the same period, the brand cooperates with TCL Mobile by supplying their own services for them. The product of cooperation between the two companies was DTEK smartphones - Alcatel clones, but with BlackBerry software. In 2017, TCL Mobile is finally bought out by BlackBerry and the first brainchild is the KEYone model. Remarkably, it was created before the consolidation of assets, but appeared on sale after. Due to the absence of any relevant alternative (all of the above models are quite old), this device became a real gift for fans of smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard in 2017. There are few fans, but devices continue to be released for their sake and the result is very interesting.

Visually, the device has become a return to classic phones with a keyboard. At the same time, the device is slightly larger than the now familiar touch devices. It has an impressive thickness - 9.4 mm, a large weight - 180 grams and an extremely interesting combination of materials. The side face is aluminum. The back cover is plastic with a velvety surface and texture. In the hands of all this combination feels good, and the user immediately understands that he is holding a serious gadget. The manufacturer tried to make a noticeable device, so all the elements here are large - the camera, the logo, the control buttons. Everything is catchy, but not pretentious.

The model received a small display with sufficient resolution for its size. From a detail point of view, it is good, but traditionally for BlackBerry, it lacks brightness. Because of this, it is not very comfortable to use the device in the sun. The video is displayed more than well, despite the ratio of 3 to 2, but playing in landscape orientation is inconvenient. Here the reason is that the keyboard outweighs - it is tiring to keep the smartphone in this position for a long time.

The 3505 mAh battery provides 2 days of work at medium loads. If you use the gadget more actively, then it will still live for a day. This is a very pleasant indicator. In addition, there are . The device received 3/32 GB of memory, the main drive expands to 2 TB, the slot is combined. Chipset - Snapdragon 625, not the most powerful, but for this smartphone it is enough. Cameras - 12 and 8 megapixels. They take good quality pictures, have all the modern features such as face enhancement and the like. The maximum video resolution is 4K. Of course, photography fans will not appreciate the device, but most users will like the result.

The KEYone smartphone offers all proprietary software related to the protection of user data - BB Hub, Password Keeper and others. In fact, stealing information from a BlackBerry is impossible. For many people in the modern world, this is a weighty argument. It is worth mentioning that the model received all modern wired and wireless interfaces - Type-C, WI-Fi ac. Regarding the keyboard, too, not everything is simple. First of all, you can assign a quick call to a particular function to each button. At the same time, they support long and short presses. There are all the usual combinations - ctrl + c, ctrl + v and others to simplify working with text. The manufacturer did not forget about continuous input - you can swipe through the desired letters to form a word (similar to the touch keyboard). The fingerprint scanner is hidden in the space bar.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

  • By the standards of 2019, the main drive is small, while the slot is combined.
  • Insufficient screen brightness.
  • It is inconvenient to play in landscape orientation.

BlackBerry Key 2

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: SDM660 (8 cores, up to 2.2GHz)
  • Memory: RAM and 64/128 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 35,000 rubles.

Smartphone Key 2 from BlackBerry has become the most powerful device of the company. The device in comparison with KEYone has changed visually, and also became more interesting in terms of hardware. In terms of materials, the manufacturer, as before, settled on 7000 series aluminum for the frame and unusual plastic with a rubberized surface for the back cover. Due to this, the phone turned out to be non-slippery, very comfortable in the hand and smearing it is almost impossible. An interesting feature is related to the glass coating. The previous model used Gorilla Glass 4, in this case the 3rd generation was used. This is due to the fact that the device received small frames around the screen, which eliminates the impact on it, and besides, the weight was shifted to the keyboard. If the smartphone falls, it will hit the keyboard. At the same time, the 3rd generation of protective glass is more resistant to scratches. It turns out that it is almost impossible to break or scratch it - unless of course you do it purposefully with a direct blow. Another nice change is that the matrix has become brighter. The indicator is 550 nits, which is enough even in bright light. The company took into account the mistakes of past years and finally corrected the situation. The fingerprint scanner, as before, is hidden in the "gap".

Battery – 3500 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0. The charge is enough for 2 days of work. As before, the device has all wireless interfaces - NFC, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0. The novelty received a good selfie camera of 8 megapixels, as well as a dual matrix on the back - 12 + 12 megapixels. Now the smartphone can make Bokeh and it turns out to be more than worthy. Another nice opportunity is shooting Slo-mo. It should be noted that the camera loses to numerous competitors in the same price segment, but do not forget that BlackBerry KEY 2 is primarily a working tool. Given this positioning, there can be no complaints about the camera.

In terms of performance, the phone turned out to be very thoughtful. Snapdragon 660 was chosen as the processor and this is a tribute to the best combination of performance and autonomy. For those tasks for which the device is designed, it is quite enough. It makes no sense to talk about memory, everything is fine here - 6 GB of RAM and a choice of 64 or 128 GB of ROM. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 8.1, but the company promises an update to the next version 9.0. Naturally, all proprietary applications for optimization and safety at work are present.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

  • Given the positioning, there are no cons.

BlackBerry Key 2

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 636 (8 cores, up to 2 GHz)
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 26,900 rubles.

BlackBerry KEY 2 LE came out a little later than its older brother KEY 2 and actually became its budget version. The model received visual changes - in design and keyboard it is closer to KEYone, but the smartphone is lighter. The frame is made of metal, the back panel is branded plastic, but with a new texture. The novelty was distinguished by new colors - red, bronze and black. The frame and frets of the keyboard are painted in them. It looks really interesting.

The novelty is powered by Snapdragon 636, which is an intermediate option between the chipsets of the first and second versions of the model. Memory - 4/64 GB. All this is quite enough for everyday work. The battery turned out to be the smallest - 3000 mAh, but at the same time it can withstand a working day without difficulty. There is fast charging. The gadget was equipped with a dual camera - 13 + 5 megapixels with all the features that the older version has. Front module - 8 megapixels with flash. In terms of software options, the device completely repeats KEY 2. OS - Android 8.1 with an update to the next version.

In fact, this device was released for those who are closer to the design of KEYone, but need the capabilities of KEY 2. In addition, in comparison with the latter, the novelty wins in price.

Advantages:

  • Up-to-date OS updated to a newer version.
  • Quality cameras.
  • Decent performance.
  • Corporate software.
  • Interesting body colors.
  • NFC support.

Disadvantages:

  • Against the background of previous models, the device is not so autonomous, but in general it will be enough for a day of work.

Excluded from selection

Samsung Galaxy Y Pro

  • Operating system: Android 2.3
  • CPU: Broadcom BCM21553 (1 core, 832 MHz)
  • Memory: 384 MB RAM and 160 MB ROM
  • Display: 2.6" TFT, 240 x 320 dots

Price: less than 7000 rubles.

At one time, push-button smartphones on Android were produced by many large companies. The Galaxy Y Pro is a good example of this. It is a pity that the South Koreans did not produce a successor to this model. Now it is quite outdated - applications for Android 2.3 are almost never developed. But if you have recently used a QWERTY-smartphone from Nokia based on Symbian, then the South Korean product may well suit you.

The device with a twist keyboard on Android turned out to be very light - its weight does not exceed 108 grams. The keys are pressed clearly, their mechanism is made according to the traditional system - they should withstand at least a couple of years of active use. As for wireless networks, there is support for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Only the minimum amount of RAM can confuse, which makes it difficult to use some services. And the screen could have been installed better, because the TFT-matrix is famous for its minimal viewing angles.

Advantages

  • Minimum weight;
  • Convenient keyboard;
  • Not the largest sizes;
  • Optimal price tag.

disadvantages

  • Old version of the operating system;
  • Weak components;
  • Camera resolution - only 3.2 MP;
  • A simple display.

Runbo X3

  • Operating system: Android 4.0
  • CPU: MediaTek MT6577 (2 cores, 1.2 GHz)
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.5 inches, 480 x 800 dots

Price: 10000 rub.

This device has not only a QWERTY-keyboard, but also a protected case. Practice shows that it is impossible to use it constantly for typing a large number of texts. But on the other hand, such a device shows itself perfectly in field conditions. The creators also assume that their creation will be used in and at work in the conditions of the most serious exploitation. You can break the X3, but with incredible difficulty. The device has not the worst components.

Most of all, the buyer should be pleased with the camera, which has an 8-megapixel resolution. And the LED flash will not only help make the picture brighter, but also allow you to find a thing lost in the bushes. There is also a front camera, but its resolution is so low that it is better to forget about its existence. As for the wireless modules, the device assumes its use in 3G networks. There is also a stable functioning navigation module that interacts with GPS satellites. If you have not gone very far from the urban area, then you can listen to the FM radio. And the smartphone is also capable of operating in the mode using the PTT Walkie Talkie 5km 400-470 MHz module.

Advantages

  • Decent accessories;
  • Protection against moisture and shock;
  • Good main camera;
  • Small but clear display;
  • Built-in radio.

disadvantages

  • The keyboard is not very comfortable;
  • Large weight (245 grams);
  • Working hours could be longer.

DELL Venue Pro

  • Operating system: Windows Phone 7
  • CPU: Qualcomm QSD8250 (1 core, 1 GHz)
  • Memory: 512 MB RAM and ROM
  • Display: 4.1 inches, AMOLED, 480 x 800 dots

Price: 28000 rub.

When listing smartphone manufacturers, you probably won't remember DELL. This company works closely with, creating quite good laptops and all-in-ones. From time to time, this manufacturer strikes experiments. One of them resulted in the birth of the DELL Venue Pro.

This is a slider running the seventh version of Microsoft's mobile operating system. As usual, it does not devour resources, and therefore we recommend not paying attention to weak components. Although I would like more permanent memory, because there is no microSD slot. This smartphone with a sliding QWERTY keyboard cannot boast of a very high resolution display. But it is not so low that the pixelization is clearly evident. You can buy a smartphone with a keypad for the sake of typing a large amount of text. The operating system contributes to this - it interacts perfectly with Word and Excel. But otherwise, it loses to Android, since the number of applications developed for it is very limited. Also, it should be noted that the camera is weak by today's standards and a very decent weight of the device, equal to 192 grams.

Advantages

  • Original by modern standards form factor;
  • Well-implemented work with text documents;
  • Slowdowns are extremely rare;
  • Pleasant to the touch plastic.

In the age of information technology, the hardware QWERTY keyboard is characterized as a relic of the past. The Canadian-Chinese company BlackBerry remains the leader in the field of creating a mechanical keyboard on smartphones. Below are phones with a qwerty keyboard for 2020, with a description of the features, advantages and disadvantages.

This mobile device has a battery capacity of 3505 mAh. It has the ability to work the whole day with an average load and two days with moderate use.

The BlackBerry KEYone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 mid-range and high performance processor. The smartphone runs smoothly and quickly, and it is also suitable for games with heavy graphics, if the presence of a hardware layout does not become a hindrance.

The device is equipped with a 12-megapixel main camera with a Sony IMX378 sensor. It allows you to create high-quality images in both day and night lighting. It is possible to shoot video in 4K quality and the presence of auto focus. The front camera received an 8-megapixel sensor with LED flash and panorama mode.

Image quality is excellent for both day and night shooting.

The KEYone smartphone is packed with enhanced security and privacy that no other device or manufacturer can match.

Such a device is suitable for people who are ready to go against the opinions of others and purchase an extraordinary phone.

Positive sides:

  1. Battery.
  2. Privacy protection.
  3. Image and video quality.
  4. Backlit keyboard.
  5. Communication abilities.
  6. Performance.

    Modern push-button smartphones: not a single sensor

    The bad desire of manufacturers to abandon the physical buttons on smartphones has led to such an unsound competition: who will have “even” fewer buttons, and who will place them in the most inconvenient place. The ends on all sides, the back cover (for the Power button) are only Apple and Samsung, except that they are true to the presence of at least one hardware control button (not counting the power key and volume swing, which almost no one has yet refused).

    Precisely, almost: a smartphone with a slightly indecent sounding name Manta 7X was recently announced, in which there are no buttons at all. The notorious power buttons and volume rocker have been replaced with mini-touchscreens.

    On the other hand, in Chinese stores you can find smartphones with QWERTY keyboards, but they will be, to put it mildly, “not very”: an unnamed Chinese phone cannot boast of either build quality, coupled with a software component, or support - they usually have it at zero.

    Samsung Super Clamshells

    Samsung SM-W2015, G9098, G9198… Samsung is better known in our country for various flagships of the Galaxy S series, as well as the ancestor of the Galaxy Note “shovels”. But the company is also actively producing clamshell smartphones, and for some reason only for Asian markets, mainly Chinese and Japanese.

    And there are actually a lot of them. It is not clear why the Chinese brothers got such interesting preferences, since the recently announced G9198 model, for example, is also the flagship of the Korean company. This clamshell has two AMOLED screens with a resolution of 1280 × 768 pixels with protective glass Gorilla Glass 4, 2 GB of RAM and 16 permanent memory, and the processor is an impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 808. Of course, there are good old digital buttons for dialing numerical data and SMS via T9 and similar, all possible wireless interfaces, LTE - in general, this is the same S6 flagship, only in a different form factor.

    And the Samsung G9098 is not much worse, to say the least. It has a Snapdragon 800, two 3.67-inch Super AMOLED touchscreens with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, 2 GB of RAM, but the digital buttons are different, as is the design as a whole. But this model is sold only in Asia, unfortunately.

    Blackberry Passport

    Often appearing in our latest articles, the smartphone from the half-dead Canadian manufacturer RIM (BlackBerry) has found its place here. Recall that we are talking about a smartphone with a full-fledged QWERTY keyboard on Blackberry 13 OS with various tasty goodies (for example, launching Android applications), including an innovative touch panel (hidden under the keyboard), which in its dimensions fully corresponds to a regular passport.

    The features of the device follow from this: a square display, the ability to adapt all possible applications (and the new version of the OS can port what only Android was feasible), and thus, theoretically, hundreds of thousands of applications become available in Passport. Therefore, the title "not like everyone else" suits him completely.

    The resolution of the display, despite this, is very good: 1440x1440 pixels with a density of 453 dpi, and users praise the thoughtfulness of the system and its convenience, while talking about the lack of these qualities in smartphones based on Android.

    True, the only negative in this barrel of honey is the price of 32 thousand rubles on the Russian market.

    BQ Berkeley

    The little-known Hong Kong brand BQ (Bright&Quick) introduced a budget QWERTY smartphone on the Russian market a few months ago at a price of 4,000 rubles. The name of the world-famous American university is one of the company's features. True, it is written with several errors, but who cares.

    In some ways, it is similar to the classic BlackBerry, but at a disproportionately low price and Android 4.2.2 OS as a basis. The configuration here is absolutely budgetary: a dual-core MediaTek with half a gigabyte of RAM, no 4G, a rear (!) Two-megapixel camera .... Should I continue?

    It is clear that this QWERTY background is aimed at those who need a minimum from a smartphone: SMS, calls, simple applications, chats, social networks. But it has one significant drawback: unlike the "gray" phones from the West and East, where there is only an English-language keyboard, everything is the other way around, and only Russian letters are applied to the keys. Therefore, entering passwords / logins and other program elements will not be possible (unless you know exactly where which key is): you will have to use a small 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 × 320 pixels and only two-point multitouch.

    On the other hand, according to reviews, the keyboard is very convenient to use: nothing supernatural, just the same as it was in QWERTY-smartphones many years ago.

    LG Wine Smart 2

    But not only Samsung is strong with its clamshells: their sworn competitor in the Korean and world markets, LG, also offers a similar product.

    Similar, but not quite: LG relies not only on South Korea, but also on Europe, so the phone will be officially shipped to many EU countries and even to Kazakhstan.

    This is the second clamshell smartphone from LG's Wine Smart series, and it looks very similar to the first one (which was intended only for Korea): even the buttons, unlike the competitors from Samsung, are made convex, like in old phones.

    What can he be proud of? Not very many: the smartphone from Wine Smart 2 turned out to be much less powerful than that of Samsung, Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (4 cores at 1.1 GHz) works as a “fiery engine”, the screen offers a very modest 3.2 inches (with a resolution of 480x320 dots), the rear camera is only 3 MP (and a VGA front camera). RAM 1 GB, 4 GB file memory, battery 1700 mAh. Like the first Wine Smart, this model uses Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as its operating system.

    Sonim XP6

    The Sonim brand is well known even to those who have not been following the market for a long time: for many years this company has been producing gadgets protected by the maximum IP standard classes for the most severe conditions of use.

    New for 2015 is the XP6 model, a smartphone that looks more like an ordinary phone with a very large screen, although the screen is tiny by the standards of smartphones: 2.6” with a resolution of 320x432 pixels.

    Of course, it is protected to the maximum - the IP69 standard covers most of the toughest conditions, from diving to conquering Everest. At the same time, it cannot be said that it has some kind of particularly powerful configuration: Qualcomm MSM8926 and only 1 GB of RAM (+8 permanent).

    But on the other hand, it has a lot of features that are not easy to find in "regular" smartphones: an impressive 4800 mAh battery, the ability to work in walkie-talkie mode, over 1000 hours of standby time, three programmable keys in addition to the usual ones, a magnetic charging connector, a speaker as much as 103 dB ...

    But the price, of course, is rather big: on the official website, the model is sold for 56 thousand rubles, which, however, is fully justified by the alleged indestructibility and durability of the device.

    Simtelep N9

    This is one of those Chinese smartphones that is a monoblock smartphone with physical buttons “like on a phone” at a very affordable price of $80: for this price, the device can be bought in Chinese stores, and Russian ones are selling it today for about 8,000 rubles. rubles. Of course, these are not “official representations”.

    As a smartphone, Simtelep N9 is quite simple: it has a dual-core platform MTK6572, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of file memory (plus a MicroSD slot), a display with a resolution of 480x320 pixels and a fairly impressive 4000 mAh battery, which allows it to work, according to the manufacturer, more than 6 days standby.

    Otherwise, this is a fairly simple and cheap smartphone, whose main problem lies precisely in the keyboard: in order to make the buttons work under Android, you will have to use third-party software, which is not even the fact that it will work. In addition, there are no Russian letters on the keyboard, which can also be a problem for many.

    You can find a lot of similar smartphones in Chinese stores, but all of them will have approximately the same drawbacks listed in the previous paragraph. Therefore, if you are not ready for shamanic dances with a tambourine, pay attention to other smartphones with buttons. Most likely, among them you will find what you are looking for.
