Perhaps, for no ZTE model there is so much official and custom firmware as for ZTE Blade. Which one is the best firmware for ZTE Blade is hard to say, it depends on personal preferences.

Before considering any options for ZTE Blade firmware, it is necessary to mention that this smartphone comes in two versions: Gen1 and Gen2. Gen can be determined using the Ask Mr Pigfish application developed specifically for ZTE Blade. You can download it for free at the Google Market. Gen2 has some advantages over Gen1, for example, better signal strength, HSUPA support, 850mhz range for GSM and 3G, as well as the ability to install new versions of Syanogenmod in the future.

Transition instruction from Gen1 to Gen2

It is assumed that ClockworkMod Recovery and drivers are already installed.

  • Download the firmware or and throw on the phone’s SD card.
  • Download and drop on the stock memory card.
  • On the switched off smartphone, hold down the volume “-” and “on” and go to ClockworkMod Recovery, then install the downloaded recovery via CWM as an update. After installing Reboot
  • Download the archive with the partition redistribution (cache; system; data). In this case, 136 MB were allocated for the system, more than 2 megabytes for the cache.
  • Unpack the archive on a PC
  • Turn off the smartphone, then hold down the volume “-” and “on”, when FTM appears, we connect the phone to the PC.
  • In the unpacked partition redistribution archive, run download_nochecksGen2.exe, click Start and do not touch anything until a notification about the completion of installation appears. After completion, click approx.
  • Go to the "advanced" select "Reboot Recovery".
  • CWM will restart, and then install SS RLS4b or CyanogenMod from CWM (when installing SS RLS4b will write your Gen2 device generation).
  • We make a Backup of the Channel1.nvm file, which will appear after switching to Gen2, in the folder from which download_nochecksGen2.exe was launched. This is to save IMEI data in case you switch back to Gen1.

If after the transition there were problems when starting CWM, but the firmware was installed, then download and install OneClickRecovery_ver2.apk and run it. You can download the file.

Universal ZTE Blade firmware instructions using CWM

It is assumed that CWM and firewood are already installed on the phone. It is desirable to install CWM version 3.0.1.4, which is suitable for firmware 2.2 and 2.3.

  • Download the desired firmware.
  • We connect the USB cable.
  • Go to Recovery.
  • If a2sd is not in the firmware, then continue from the next item, otherwise, format / break the USB flash drive by choosing “advanced” - “partition sd - ext \u003d 512, swap \u003d 0, fat \u003d the rest will be automatic”. A cheap flash drive may cause problems. In this case, you need to format the SD card on your computer in fat32, and then install the firmware, then break the flash drive and complete a full wipe. If suddenly the firmware becomes crooked, then you need to flash it again.
  • We do “wipe data / factory reset”, “wipe cache partition”, not necessarily, but you can also execute “wipe battery”
  • We copy the firmware to the USB flash drive without unpacking (for the PC to see the smartphone in CWM, select “mount USB storage” in the “mounts-and storage” menu, when we copy everything we need to click “unmount”).
  • We select in the Recovery "install zip from sdcard" install the firmware.
  • At the end, select “reboot system now”, after which the phone restarts.

This method is also suitable for installing updates on ZTE Blade.

As for updates, it is easy to update the OS of your device to version 2.2 through settings. You can download firmware update for ZTE Blade up to version FRY_RU_P729VV1.0.0B01 (OS version: Android 2.2). The archive contains instructions for installing the update in Russian.

A significant number of official firmware for ZTE Blade is presented here. A large number of firmware can be found on this. Besides the fact that you can download the firmware for ZTE Blade there, a table with firmware versions of OS 2.1 and 2.2 is also presented for clarity, from which you can find out a lot of information about the necessary firmware. When downloading, do not forget to pay for compatibility (TFT or OLED).

Installation of firmware 2.3 7 on ZTE Blade can be seen in this video.

You can watch the ZTE Blade 4.0.4 firmware overview, as well as get some installation information from this video.

To install the ZTE Blade android 4.0 firmware, partition redistribution is required, but the author claims that he did not do this, and everything was fine. In this case, ICS ColdFusionX CM9 Release 9 was installed. Those. This firmware was installed, like any other custom firmware.

Even in modern balanced Android smartphones of well-known manufacturers, there is sometimes a situation characterizing software developers for the device from a not too good side. Quite often, even a relatively “fresh” smartphone can cause its owner troubles in the form of the collapse of the Android system, which makes further use of the device impossible. ZTE Blade A510 is a mid-level device which, with good technical specifications, cannot, unfortunately, boast the stability and reliability of system software from the manufacturer.

Fortunately, the above troubles are eliminated by flashing the device, which today does not present any special difficulties even for a novice user. The following material describes how to flash the ZTE Blade A510 smartphone - from simple installation / updating of the official version of the system to receiving the latest Android 7 in the device.

Before proceeding with the manipulations according to the instructions below, be aware of the following.

Firmware procedures carry a potential danger! Only a clear implementation of instructions can predetermine the smooth flow of software installation processes. At the same time, the Administration of the resource and the author of the article cannot guarantee the efficiency of the methods for each specific device! The owner performs all manipulations with the device at his own peril and risk, and bears responsibility for their consequences on his own!

Any software installation process is preceded by preparatory procedures. In any case, for reinsurance, do all of the following before starting to overwrite the ZTE Blade A510 memory sections.

Hardware revisions

Model ZTE Blade A510 is available in two versions, the difference between which is the type of display used.

  • Rev1 - hx8394 f_720p_lead_dsi_vdo

For this version of the smartphone there are no restrictions on the use of software versions, you can install any official OS from ZTE.

  • Rev2 - hx8394 d_720p_lead_dsi_vdo

In this version of the display, only official firmware versions will function properly RU_B04, RU_B05, BY_B07, BY_B08.

  • Find out which display is used in a particular device, you can use the Android application Device Info HW, which is in the Play Store.

After installing and starting Device Info HW, as well as granting root rights to the application, the display version can be viewed in the line "Display" on the tab "General" the main screen of the program.

As you can see, determining the display type of the ZTE Blade A510 and, accordingly, the hardware revision of the device is a simple procedure, but it requires Superuser rights on the device, and obtaining them requires the installation of a modified recovery beforehand, which is done after a number of rather complicated manipulations with the software part described below.

Thus, in some situations it is necessary to act “blindly”, not knowing for sure what type of display is used in the device. Before the revision of the smartphone is found out, only those firmware that work with both revisions should be used, i.e. RU_B04, RU_B05, BY_B07, BY_B08.

    Drivers

As in the case with other Android devices, in order to manipulate the ZTE Blade A510 through Windows applications, you will need the drivers installed in the system. The smartphone in question does not stand out in this regard with anything special. Install the drivers for Mediatek devices by following the instructions in the article:

If you encounter problems or difficulties when installing drivers, use a specially created script to install system components that are required for the smartphone and PC to pair correctly.

    Back up important data

Every intervention in the software part of all Android devices, and the ZTE Blade A510 is no exception, carries a potential danger and in most cases involves cleaning the device’s internal memory from the data contained in it, including user information. To avoid losing personal information, make a backup of important information, and in the ideal case, a full backup of the smartphone’s memory sections, using the tips from the material:

The most important point to consider is backing up a partition. "NVRAM". Damage to this area during firmware leads to the erasure of IMEI, which in turn leads to inoperability of SIM-cards.

Recovery "NVRAM" without backup it is very difficult, therefore, in the description of software installation methods No. 2-3, the steps in the article are described below, which allow creating a section dump before interfering with the device’s memory.

    Firmware

Depending on your goal, you can use one of several methods of dubbing ZTE Blade A510 software. Method No. 1 is most often used to update the official firmware version, method No. 2 is the most universal and cardinal method of reinstalling software and restoring the device’s working state, and method No. 3 involves replacing the smartphone’s system software with third-party solutions.

    Method 1: Factory Recovery

Probably the easiest way to reinstall the firmware on the ZTE Blade A510 should be considered using the capabilities of the factory recovery environment of the device. If the smartphone boots into Android, you don’t even need a PC to follow the instructions below, and if the device doesn’t work correctly, the steps listed above often help restore functionality.

Additionally. In the event that during the installation any errors occur or a prompt appears to reboot, as in the photo below, simply repeat the procedure again from step 1, after restarting the recovery.

    Method 2: SP Flash Tool

The most effective method for flashing MTK devices is to use the proprietary development of Mediatek programmers, which, fortunately, is accessible to ordinary users - programs. As for the ZTE Blade A510, using the tool you can not only reinstall the firmware completely or change its version, but also restore the device that does not start, “hangs” on the boot screen saver, etc.

Among other things, the ability to work with the SP Flash Tool will be needed to install custom recovery and modified operating systems in the ZTE Blade A510, so it will be familiar with the instructions and, ideally, execute it regardless of the purpose of the firmware. The version of the program from the example below can be downloaded here:

The model under consideration is very sensitive to firmware procedures and quite often various failures occur during the manipulation process, as well as damage to the partition "NVRAM", therefore, only a strict adherence to the instructions below can guarantee the success of the installation!

Before proceeding with the installation of system software in the ZTE Blade A510, it is recommended that you read the article at the link below, this will help to better understand the picture of what is happening and better navigate in terms.

The example uses firmware RU_BLADE_A510V1.0.0B05as the most versatile and recent solution for models and the first and second hardware revisions. Download the package with the firmware intended for installation via SP FlashTool at the link:

    1. Start up flash_tool.exe from the catalog resulting from unpacking the archive.
    2. Download to program MT6735M_Android_scatter.txt - This is a file that is present in the directory with the unpacked firmware. To add a file, use the button "Choose"located to the right of the field. By clicking it, determine the location of the file through Explorer and click "Open".
    3. Now you need to create a dump of the memory area that the partition occupies "NVRAM". Go to the tab "Readback" and click "Add", which will lead to the appearance of a line in the main field of the window.
    4. Left-clicking on the line added will open the Explorer window, in which you need to specify the path where the dump will be saved, as well as its name - "NVRAM". Next click "Save".
    5. In the window "Readback block start address", which appears after the execution of the previous step of the instruction, enter the following values:
      • In field "Start Adress" - 0x380000;
      • In field "Length" - the value is 0x500000.

      And click "OK".

    6. Push button "Readback". Turn off the smartphone completely, and connect the USB cable to the device.
    7. The process of reading information from the device’s memory will start automatically and end very quickly by the appearance of a window Readback OK.
    8. Thus, you will get a backup file of the NVRAM section with a size of 5 MB, which will be needed not only in the next steps of this manual, but also in the future when it becomes necessary to restore IMEI.
    9. Disconnect the phone from the USB port and go to the tab "Download". Uncheck the checkbox next to "Preloader" and start the process of writing images to memory by pressing "Download".
    10. Connect the USB cable to the smartphone. Following the determination of the device in the system, the installation of the firmware in the device will automatically begin.
    11. Wait for the window to appear “Download OK” and disconnect the ZTE Blade A510 from the computer’s USB port.
    12. Uncheck the checkboxes opposite all sections, and near "Preloader"On the contrary, check the box.
    13. Go to the tab "Format", set the formatting switch to "Manual FormatFlash", and then fill in the fields of the lower area with the following data:
      • 0x380000 - in the field "Begin Address";
      • 0x500000 - in the field " Format Length ».
    14. Press "Start", connect the device in the off state to the USB port and wait for the window to appear "Format OK".
    15. Now you need to record the previously saved dump "NVRAM" in memory of the ZTE Blade A510. This is done using the tab. "Write memory", available only in the "advanced" mode of operation of SP FlashTool. To go to "Advanced Mode" you need to press a combination on the keyboard "Ctrl"+"Alt"+"V". Then go to the menu "Window" and choose "Write memory".
    16. Field "Begin Adress" on the tab "Write memory" fill in by entering 0x380000, and in the field "File Path" add file "NVRAM"obtained as a result of performing steps No. 3-7 of this instruction. Push button "Write memory".
    17. Turn off the ZTE Blade A510 connect to the PC, and then wait for the window to appear Write Memory OK.

    18. On this OS installation in ZTE Blade A510 can be considered completed. Disconnect the device from the PC and turn it on by long pressing the key "Nutrition". The first time after manipulating via Flashtool, it will take about 10 minutes to wait for loading into Android, be patient.

    Method 3: custom firmware

If the official ZTE Blade A510 firmware does not suit you with its functional content and capabilities, you want to try something new and interesting, then you can use the modified solutions. For this model, a lot of custom ones were created and ported, choose any one according to your preferences, but it should be noted that often developers upload firmware with non-working hardware components.

The most common “disease” of modified solutions for the ZTE Blade A510 is the inability to use the camera with a flash. In addition, you should not forget about two revisions of the smartphone and carefully read the description of the custom, namely, what hardware version of the A510 it is intended for.

Custom firmware for the A510 is distributed in two forms - for installation via the SP Flash Tool and for installation via modified recovery. In general, if a decision is made to switch to custom, it is recommended to act on such an algorithm. Sew first, get root-rights and find out the hardware revision for sure. Then install the modified OS via FlashTool without a recovery environment. Subsequently, change the firmware using custom recovery.

Installing TWRP and getting root rights

In order for the ZTE Blade A510 to have a custom recovery environment, use the method of installing a separate image using SP FlashTool.

The modified recovery image file can be downloaded here:

    Custom installation through SP FlashTool

The procedure for installing custom firmware as a whole is no different from a similar process when installing an official solution. If you performed the transfer of the official firmware files by method No. 2 above (and it is highly recommended to do this before installing the modified solution), then you already have a backup "NVRAM", which means that after installing any modified OS, if necessary, you can restore the partition.

As an example, install a custom solution in the ZTE Blade A510 Lineage Os 14.1 based on Android 7.1. The disadvantages of the assembly include the periodic freezing of the Camera application when the flash is turned on. The rest is an excellent and stable solution, in addition - the newest Android. The package is suitable for both revisions of the device.

    Custom installation via TWRP

Installing modified firmware via TWRP is very simple. The procedure is described in detail in the material at the link below, for the ZTE Blade A510 there are no significant differences in the process.

One of the interesting solutions for the device in question is the ported MIUI 8 OS, which is characterized by a nice interface, a lot of opportunities for fine-tuning the system, stability and access to Xiaomi services.

Download the package for installation via TWRP from the example below using the link (suitable for Rev1and Rev2):

Thus, for the ZTE Blade A510, there are several methods for installing system software that are used depending on the desired result. If something goes wrong during the installation of the system on your smartphone, do not worry. If there is a backup, restoring the smartphone to its original state through the SP Flash Tool is a matter of 10-15 minutes.

The advantages of the ZTE Blade GF3 phone are obvious: it is very cheap and at the same time has good technical characteristics. Therefore, it is not surprising that this gadget is very popular in the market among lovers of low-cost mobile devices. The ZTE phone will be especially cheap when ordered directly from China. But there is an important nuance: from China, a smartphone usually comes with local firmware, in which there are English and Chinese languages \u200b\u200band there is not a single Russian word.

The question arises: how to deal with this? The solution is on the surface: the phone needs to be reflashed, then its use will be much more comfortable. Moreover, the new firmware can even be installed independently, without contacting an expensive service center. We will talk about how to update the software on your smartphone in the framework of this article.

    Cooking

First you need to download the firmware file on your PC. You can do this or look for a newer version on the official website. Downloading is completely free, but because updating your smartphone will not cost a penny. After downloading, you need to unzip the archive.

Also, before starting the software installation, take care of creating a backup of all the data and saving it on another medium. When changing the software, all settings will be automatically cleared and files deleted, so making sure that they are safe will not be amiss.

Before starting, you also need to charge your ZTE smartphone at least 30-50% (or better completely) and check if the computer has drivers for recognizing a mobile gadget.

When all the preparations are left behind, we proceed to the installation.

    Flashtool

The most popular way to install new software is to use the program. How to flash a gadget with it? It is enough to connect the smartphone to the computer via USB, by debugging via USB in the settings of the mobile device, then run the program and indicate in it the path to the archive with the firmware. Then click on Downloadstarting installation - and the process is started. You need to wait a few minutes for the software change to complete successfully, and then it remains only to re-configure your smartphone.

    Recovery

You can reflash the phone through Recovery. In this case, download the file with the new firmware from the computer to the SD memory card. You need to insert the card into the gadget, start it in recovery mode using the volume and power down buttons, then perform a complete cleaning of the data and settings and install new software, indicating the path to it on the memory card.

In both cases, the first launch of the smartphone will occur within a few minutes. Do not be alarmed if the process lasts longer than usual: this is normal if the system is updated.

If after turning on the phone it works well and everything suits you - congratulations, you changed the original firmware to a more convenient custom one, spending only a few minutes on it and saving yourself from unnecessary financial expenses!
