Wileyfox Storm comes in a compact matte cardboard box. It looks spectacular, a bright orange range has been chosen. Inside, the smartphone is hidden in a separate package, where it is fixed to prevent damage during transportation.

Package includes cable micro USB with a logo, a set of technical documentation and a paper clip for the SIM tray. The power supply is purchased independently.

Appearance

Like the younger version, the Wileyfox Storm is available in white and black. The texture of the back cover changes depending on the color. White with a matte finish, black with a texture similar to fine sand.

Against the background of the dominance of iPhone-style phones, Wileyfox looks like a fashionista in a formal suit. Smooth lines and almost sharp corners. The combination of unpainted metal and hard plastic adds its own flavor.

The design is based on a metal frame, assembly flawlessly. The lid does not bend under pressure, there is no backlash and squeak of parts.

The overall dimensions of the case are 76.9x155.6x9.1 mm and weighs 150 grams. The smartphone fits well in the hand, does not slip out.

Both mechanical buttons are on the right side, they protrude slightly above the surface of the case. In my opinion, they are unnecessarily shifted upwards; to change the volume, you need to shift the grip.

The front side of the Wileyfox Storm is completely covered protective glass Gorilla Glass 3. It is scratch resistant and has an oleophobic coating.

The lower frames have three touch-sensitive buttons with white backlighting. In the settings, the user can activate the on-screen buttons. On the top is an oblong speaker grill, proximity and lighting sensors, a front camera lens and an additional LED flash.

Wileyfox Storm received a 5.5-inch IPS-display with Full HD resolution, pixel density 400 ppi. The picture is juicy, saturated, there are no individual pixels. There is no air gap between the matrix and the protective glass.

The viewing angles are maximum. Supports up to 10 simultaneous touches. The color balance is close to neutral. You can find fault with the level of maximum brightness.

Filling

The heart of Wileyfox Storm is the Snapdragon 615 v2 processor; in the second revision, the operating frequency was reduced to solve overheating problems. This is an eight-core chip, four cores operate at 1.5 GHz, the remaining at 1.0 GHz. Responsible for the graphics Adreno 405. Installed 3 GB of RAM, usually classmates are limited to only 2 GB of memory.

The main module of the Wileyfox Storm camera with a resolution of 20.7 megapixels is a Sony Exmor matrix, the same one used in the Meizu MX5. The pictures are detailed, but there are complaints about the autofocus. The system does not always clearly determine the correct focus point, you have to help by marking the area on the screen. This is most likely a software problem and will be fixed in future firmwares. Camera application from Cyanogen OS, there are shooting modes and manual settings... Software

Operating system installed Google android 5.1.1 with Cyanogen OS firmware. Testing is already underway for 6.0, apparently, a stable build can be expected in the coming months. The shell has proven itself well among Android users. An uncluttered system with a minimum of third-party software and customization capabilities is offered.

Wileyfox Storm runs on Cyanogen OS 12.1 firmware based on Android 5.1.1. An update to Android 6.0 is expected in the future.

It turns out the level of a good camera with a 13 megapixel matrix. The point is obviously in the software processing, which is very lame. Maybe it will be fixed in future updates?

Supported work with two SIM cards, but with one "but". The fact is that the second slot for a SIM card is combined, here you can install either a nano-SIM SIM card, or a MicroSD memory card up to 128 GB (only one to choose from). A micro-SIM card is installed in the first slot. But it's not so bad, because Wileyfox Storm has 32 GB of its own memory, so you can do without expanding it.

Good performance comes from a decent 3GB of RAM and an 8-core Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 processor (4x 1.5GHz, 4x 1GHz). The specs are not flagship, but very cool for $ 180.

What can rarely be found in the characteristics of a phone is the indicated SAR level (in simple terms - the radiation of the phone, the effect on the body). You can find indicators for Samsung phones, others are less common. And the Chinese do not have this at all. Here everyone honestly pointed out to us: the SAR level is 0.455 / 0.554 W / kg. The lithium polymer battery has a capacity of 2,500 mAh. That's not a lot for a phablet. The screen with a diagonal of 5.5 inches, and even with a Full HD resolution, will mercilessly "eat up" the charge in the active screen mode. And especially in games and when surfing sites.
