Psp vita new model. What to choose? PlayStation Vita Fat vs PlayStation Vita Slim: version differences

Sony unveiled a new version of its portable console - PS Vita 2000 which will be 20% thinner and 15% lighter than the original handheld. In addition, the new PlayStation Vita will replace the display with LCD instead of the original OLED, which will increase battery life by 1 hour. In addition, the PS Vita will now include a built-in 1GB card for saves.

But that's not all. Now memory cards on PS Vita will cost 40% less starting September 10th (which will affect only Japan at first).

PS Vita 2000 will go on sale in February 2014 in Europe for £ 180. Apparently, there will be no 3G model.

Comparison of old and new PS Vita displays

Even though the updated version offers a larger battery, 1 GB of RAM, a range of different body colors and much more, it has one significant drawback - this is new screen, or rather its technology.

Apparently, having decided to save on components, Sony abandoned the use of the OLED screen, replacing it with LCD LED display... As many feared, this ultimately significantly reduced the quality of the image displayed on the new screen. And this is evidenced by photographs taken by the owner of the "old" version of the PlayStation Vita, which he photographed next to the updated model.

For those who like to play games on the road, for example, on the way to school or work, portable consoles have been around for a long time. One of the most recent is Sony's PS Vita, replacing the legendary PSP. Compact size, bright touch screen, a large line of game projects, coupled with network modes- that's what awaits you. Today, this console can be purchased without difficulty at any electronics store. But where to stop the choice? Is it worth or old model Fat? Many newbies don't know what makes them different. And this gap needs to be closed.

The main differences between PS Vita Slim and Fat

First of all, you need to explain why there are several models on the market. In the industry of game consoles, there has long been a practice of releasing updated models. Almost every home console from Sony has several versions. The series with the subheading Slim are launched several years after the launch of the base model and are intended to improve overall performance. The size and weight are reduced, the cooling system is improved, appearance... But let's get back to the current question: PS Vita Fat or Slim? To make a comparison, you need to look at the key innovations of the updated model.

There are not many visual differences. The console is 20% thinner and 42 grams lighter. This has increased its portability and ease of use. The design remains the same. The slot for game cartridges has been moved to the center on the top panel, indicators have been added to the left, showing the battery charge and turning on the Bluetooth module. The PS Vita Portable Console Charging Port has also undergone changes - now it is an interface Micro USB, which greatly simplifies the selection of accessories. The main control buttons (sticks, keys, etc.) remained unchanged with the exception of Select, Start and Home, which are now round. The rear touchpad was also slightly reduced.

Major changes

But what are the main differences between PS Vita Slim and Fat? If you look at any available review on the console, you will notice the following changes. First, there is 1 Gb of built-in flash memory, which can be used for saves and light games. Secondly, replacing the OLED screen with IPS LCD. Many believe that this is a technological omission, as the display was of inferior quality. But in fact, the quality and brightness of the picture remained practically unchanged. At the same time, the LCD screen consumes an order of magnitude less power, which increases the console's autonomy. And this is one of the key parameters of the PS Vita Slim portable set-top box.

Cool library of games Nintendo, the rise of mobile games and applications, the high cost of consoles held back the "shot" PS Vita... But, Sony is not going to give up so easily and leave the portable console market. Recently, namely 10 October 2013 of the year Sony launches the second model of its portable console PS Vita codenamed PCH-2000... There is no information about entering other countries yet, but we hope that it will appear soon. Until then, let's take a closer look at this great version of the console.

New model PS Vita became thinner by about 20% (from - 0.73 ", now - 0.59"). This is enough a big difference that should be felt. Now the portable console is from Sony even more mobile. The weight of the console has also been reduced by 15%. This of course did not make it pocketable, but it became much more convenient in everyday use.

Buttons and controls remain largely unchanged. Only the appearance of the buttons has changed Playstation, Start and Select... They have become more rounded. Also, Sony slightly reduced the size of the rear Touchpad"and for a more comfortable use of the function RemotePlay with PS4.
The mystery is now missing from the top of the console data-port and there is only a hole for playing with cards. A new version console got LEDs. One of them shows power information, the other shows new system notifications.

There are tons of color options available in Japan now. However, it is currently not for sale. 3G version of this miracle. It is possible that this is due to a supply or production problem.
The price of this mobile platform... But this does not make it less high quality or durable.

The biggest change in PS Vita Slim- new display. Now in PS Vita installed not OLED, and the LCD screen. But it loses some of its brightness. Perhaps it will be even more convenient for daytime use.
However, the LCD screen has its advantages as well. First is the battery. In testing, the new handheld console lasted for about 7 hours of heavy use, while the original lasted for about five hours. In addition, the more subdued color palette of the LCD makes the picture pleasant and realistic enough. Talking about nutrition, Sony began to use for charging micro-USB connector, as in most of their smartphones.

Also, the new console model has 1 GB of internal memory for downloading new software versions, saving for games, or even downloading a couple of mini-games to the console. But if you are going to actively buy games in PS Store, then you should think about purchasing a memory card.

Summarize. The new version of the console may seem like a small step backward for the platform. New design makes it more portable and easier to use, while the new display may not seem so attractive. But the console runtime has increased, which is good. The most important thing is that Sony can make the price more flexible, as a result, the console will be available to a larger audience. What's left to do Sony with its new version of the console - so it is to present it to the whole world.

After controversial success Playstation vita Sony decided not to give up and release an updated version of the portable console - PS Vita 2000(PS Vita Slim).

To understand all the differences between the "thick" and "thin" versions, we decided to make a small comparison.

We tried to form the results and conclusions, starting from the opinions of ordinary users, but not forgetting about the technical aspects.

A bit of history

The first version of the PS Vita PCH-1000 released on December 17, 2011 in Japan. In Europe, it began to be sold on February 22, 2012. PS Vita is a logical continuation of the line of portable consoles from Sony. The public welcomed the appearance of the new "Nintendo killer" rather warmly, but many focused their attention on the autonomous life of the set-top box(3-4 hours of active use), as well as a small number of games. By the way, the lack of AAA projects and a huge number of indie games in the PS Store are still a weak point of the PS Vita.

In 2013, Sony is presenting an updated version of the PS Vita - PCH-2000 (Slim). Users did not see anything fundamentally new. In fact, this is the same PSV, only in the new building... Why this is so, we will analyze further.

PS Vita Model Views

There are several models of the PS Vita PCH-1000. The numbers in the model numbering correspond to for the regional console binding, as well as the presence of 3G or lack thereof.

Let's take a look at the PS Vita PCH-1108 as an example. This console is oriented to the Russian market what the last digit says - 8 .

By the last digit you can define the region to which the console is bound: 0 (K) - Japan, 1 (K) - USA, 2 (K) - Australia / New Zealand, 3 - United Kingdom, 4 - Europe / Africa / Middle East, 5 - Korea , 6 - Hong Kong / Singapore, 7 - Taiwan, 8 - Russia, 9 - China.

The second number - 1/0 - tells us about the presence / absence of a 3G module.

The PlayStation Vita PCH-2000 also changes the last figure, and 3G is simply not there.

Specifications

When reviewing the "stuffing" of PS Vita Fat or PS Vita Slim, it should be borne in mind that it is the same console, so you won't notice a dramatic difference in performance.

Inside, the same 4-core ARM CortexTM A9 processor, 512MB of RAM, graphics processor SGX543MP4 + (4-core) with 128MB memory, both cameras: [email protected]× 240 (QVGA) and [email protected]× 480 (VGA), motion sensors, Wi-Fi module (802.11n).

Separately, I would like to highlight the screen. The developers assured that the new Slim will work 2 hours longer... This result was achieved by replacing the usual OLED display with a cheap IPS LCD screen, which consumes less energy.

The picture on the PS Vita Slim is less bright and does not look as saturated as on the Fat version, but most often this is noticeable only when the two models are compared directly. If we consider PSV Slim separately, then the screen is quite good.

PS Vita vs PS Vita Slim comparison

Many people ask how to distinguish PS Vita Fat from Slim, what are the advantages of the new version, and so on. To help sort out all the questions, here are the main points that you should know about before buying.

Body and ergonomics

The forecasts of major publications, insiders and information leaks have come true - PS Vita Slim has become really more compact and smaller.

According to Sony, the console 20% thinner and 15% lighter previous version.

Engineers removed the glow of the PS button... Few people focus on this, but the flashing or lit indicator sometimes interfered when playing or watching videos, especially at night. Of course, this opinion is very subjective, but a large number of users agree with it.

The location of the buttons and sticks remains the same. Externally, the buttons have changed slightly Start and Select.

In terms of ergonomics, there is a noticeable difference. The small recesses on the rear panel for the fingers have become larger in the PS Vita Slim, which decreased sensor area... The smaller sensor is definitely more convenient, as it often happened that while playing, you could accidentally touch it with your finger when you don't need it.

Power connector

In the Slim version, the well-known microUSB port which is clearly smaller, more convenient and more versatile than the standard PS Vita power connector.

The plus is that if you suddenly lose or break a cable, you can quickly find, buy and replace it. In case of urgent need, you can use charging cable from any Android smartphone.

Memory and storage

The amount of memory on the console has changed.

“If a regular PS Vita requires a memory card, the PS Vita Slim can do without it, as it has 1GB of internal storage". In theory, this sounds good, but if you consider that 1GB = 1 game + save, then hardly anyone will stop there. Ultimately, you will have to think about buying additional memory. Other than that, you cannot use internal memory together with a flash drive - either one or the other.

The maximum supported size of a flash card is 64GB.

Variability

When purchasing the Fat version of the PS Vita, you could specify if you need a 3G module. The cost of the device depended on the choice, which could not but rejoice those who like to save an extra ten dollars.

With the release of Slim, the developers decided to simply remove the SIM card slot and leave only Wi-Fi as the main source of communication.

On the one hand, Sony's motivation is clear - everyone already has a smartphone, so no one will use mobile internet... Perhaps this is so, but, for example, iPhone owners SE or iPhone 5 / 5S - an insanely popular smartphone with a 4 "screen, having a portable console, they would prefer to watch videos on a 5" PS Vita Slim screen in places where where there is no wifi.

It would seem a trifle that you can put up with, but the lack of choice clearly upset a large number of users.

Summarize

If hundreds of negative reviews on PS Vita or PS Vita Slim, which are often found on the Internet, did not convince you, and you still want to buy this console: as a "remote" for PS4 or to go through a couple of exclusives, then most likely , it is worth choosing exactly Slim version.

On some consoles ( with software version 3.60 and below) you can install the firmware and play for free.

As we already understood, there is not much difference in the filling of the Fat and Slim modifications. The new version became more convenient and less, so the choice is more than obvious. In addition, PCH-1000 is already rarely found on store shelves, and those copies that are on Avito or other message boards do not inspire confidence.

PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita are handheld game consoles from the Japanese company Sony. Sony in 2003 presented the announcement of a pocket console, which in technology and graphics was comparable to the PlayStation 2.

Which console is better to choose: PSP or PS Vita.

Despite the prevalence of mobile Android devices offering a wide range of pocket entertainment, handheld consoles are still popular today. Moreover, both new versions and older ones are being successfully sold.

It would seem that in the PSP vs PS Vita duel, the latter definitely wins, which differs from the PSP in powerful hardware, software... It is more modern and advanced in features. Consider why, in this case, the PSP continues to be popular.

Choosing between PSP and Vita

Comparison of PS Vita with PSP shows a clear advantage in terms of technical specifications... But there are significant points that make you wonder whether it is worth buying Vita:

Thus, when deciding what is better to buy, a PSP or a new technically advanced PS Vita, think about why you need a portable set-top box. If it is assumed that the main function is precisely games, and you will play often and for a long time, then buy a PSP. It is really better and more interesting, all popular games have been released on it, including exclusive Sony.

If you are not a keen gamer, rarely play, but want to enjoy excellent graphics, then Vita is for you. Various applications have been developed for it, new games continue to be released. It is hoped that the company will return its focus to portable consoles and in the future will offer updates to both the range of games and the capabilities of the model. Although, it is possible that portable consoles will be completely replaced by smartphones and tablets.
