YouTube does not show in hd. How to upload maximum quality video to Youtube? How to get rid of freezes

Welcome to the blog site!

How to increase the quality of videos when viewed on YouTube video hosting. Everyone probably noticed that sometimes watching a video, its quality can change and for the worse, you will learn how to avoid this by reading this article.

You will also understand why the video slows down and what needs to be done for comfortable viewing without any freezes. You will also find out what annotations are and why it is better to disable them, and as a bonus, I will provide an overview of YouTub keyboard shortcuts.

Improve video quality

In fact, everything is very simple, I think many on their own were able to get rid of this problem. The fact is that the default settings prescribe the Auto-tuning view mode, which is where the whole problem of video quality lies.

In order to change the quality of the video on YouTube, you need to click on the gear, a window will open where you just need to rearrange the checkbox.

If you set it to 720, the video will be shown in HD quality. But if the Internet is weak this format it simply will not pull, so play around with the settings, perhaps the best solution for you is still Autotuning.

How to get rid of freezes

Well, for those whose video constantly hangs should once again enter the settings, perhaps there is the most a high resolution hd, change it to auto.

If it doesn't help, try experimenting from 360 to a minimum of 144. I advise you to read the article "", it will also help you cope with the problem when viewing.

Disable annotations

Annotations and alerts are information from the author of a video that supplements his video with text blocks or links to his other video.

Very often all this looks intrusive, covering the entire visible part of the video, thereby interfering with viewing, sometimes even annoying with such intrusiveness.

To disable it, you need your profile (you must have it), click on the avatar in the upper right corner, then we will plow the window onto the gear.

In the menu that opens, select the Play item, where uncheck the Show video annotations and notifications checkbox. Don't forget to save your actions.

Here are simple actions you can improve the video quality on YouTube or, on the contrary, reduce it based on the speed of your Internet connection. I have everything for today, everyone!

YouTube videos on Android tablet ah and smartphones are watched by all users. But the quality of this very viewing does not suit everyone and not always, especially if there are problems with communication in the process.

In fact, this situation is perfectly familiar to everyone who has a smartphone or tablet: as soon as he went to YouTube and launched a video, a rotating ring appears on the screen, killing both the process of downloading the file and all the existing desire to watch it.

It pisses me off. But nothing can be done. It was. Until recently. Now there is an adequate method of dealing with this phenomenon.

Before, after all, how? When playing a YouTube video on an Android device, the user could change only one single parameter in the settings - the video quality, i.e. you could choose either HD or leave it as it is, and then YouTube supposedly automatically selected the settings that should optimally match the technical capabilities of the device and / or the available communication channel.

It is clear that business and pleasure were not always combined, hence all sorts of inhibitions and problems during playback. But this is already in the past.

Apparently, at Google, someone decided that in the era of ubiquitous WiFi and the vigorous development of 4G LTE networks, Android users could be given more freedom in choosing the quality options with which they can watch videos on their mobile devices. One way or another, but recently YouTube was updated, and now the resolution of videos in it can change not only from ordinary computers, but also from tablets.

Why and how to do it?

Well, here's just one simple example. Imagine that you are watching a YouTube video on an Android tablet not through the usual (and high-quality) home or office WiFi, and not even through the fashionable and expensive foreign 4G LTE, but through the 3G connection of one of the domestic telecom operators, besides being in an area where there are few people and it is not necessary categorically to wait for records in the data transfer rate from the available communication channel. Have you presented?

Now try to predict how much of your time you will spend contemplating the stupidly spinning wheel on the screen of your new Galaxy Note PRO, Sony Tablet or Lenovo Yoga? That's the whole answer ... (by the way, here's about the prices for tablets in the online store).

And in order not to overheat the nervous system, you just need to update the YouTube mobile application. Further work with the video playback settings is extremely simple.

We open the application and go to the settings menu (3 dots - in the upper right corner of the screen) and in the drop-down window we see only three icons: letters SS (Closed Caption, i.e. subtitles), nut(Settings- settings) and checkbox (Flag Video- Watch later).

We press " Settings"And see a list of available options. Google now allows you to choose the resolution at which you can launch the video (just like in regular YouTube - 144p, 240p, 480, 720p or 1080p HD, depending on the original file parameters).

Those. now you can personally determine the compromise between the speed of downloading the file and the quality of the picture on the screen. Simply put, in order not to download a huge FullHD (which, moreover, not every tablet will show) via 3G, you can stop at quite a decent 480 points, with which YouTube videos on an Android tablet and / or smartphone are guaranteed to be downloaded without problems.

In fairness, we note that mobile applications There are plenty of third-party developers with similar functionality on the Web, and many Android users have been using them for a long time and successfully.

When watching a video on YouTube, you can change the quality of the video, and you can also configure it in your account so that the most high quality on YouTube when you turn on the video.

On youtube, change the bad quality to HD

Those who use Youtube more or less "professionally" are constantly faced with a deterioration in the quality of videos after downloading. Videos where there is a lot of movement are especially affected - the bit rate is not enough to play them normally.

The problem here is not in the compression parameters of your files and codecs, do not rack your brains, this has already been done before you. If you download a good 1080p source with a bitrate of 30-50 Mb / s, and the output from Youtube is about 6-7 Mb / s, then the problem is definitely not yours :)
Eh, Google ...

You can of course go to Vimeo, buy a paid account and fuck everyone. But I don't like socialization there. YouTube is more popular, accessible, etc. So I tried to figure out how to get the most out of Youtube.

In theory, Youtube will "optimize" the files. Well, now a lot mobile traffic etc. In practice, quality is killed. In my experience, it is 1080p that suffers the most - this is the most popular HD format, and after loading it turns out to be castrated just disgusting.
Look, here are two screenshots - the first was taken from the original, the second from a file downloaded from Youtube (with the help of a convenient, simple and free app 4K Video Downloader, I highly recommend, is available for Win and Mac).

Original (snippet 100%):

I uploaded this source to Yandex disk: https://yadi.sk/i/UoiDJtS1gJHjq

And the output from Youtube (snippet 100%):

How it looks on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF9iDjGIhZQ

It can be seen that there is practically nothing left of the original quality. The bitrate has decreased from 34 to 4 megabits - that is, more than eight times!

You need to understand that increasing the source bitrate when rendering above 20-30 Mb / s is practically useless - it will still be recalculated and compressed by YouTube into the same 4-6 Mb / s.
At the same time, another thing is understandable - it is still inhuman to increase the bitrate of the Internet stream too much - many users will have a very long download, and not all mobile devices pull playback normally. It's bad that we can no longer manage quality.

But there is one trick. If, when exporting from editing, you set the video size slightly exceeding 1080p, then Youtube, as it were, switches to a higher bitrate.
For the experiment, I rendered the same video at 2048x1152 resolution. It is clear that there will be interpolation, which in itself will not add quality, but we are trying to deceive YouTube and switch it to a higher bitrate without critically inflating the source.
After rendering, we get a slightly larger file (about 700 mb), upload it to Youtube. And although when playing the video in the settings we see the same 1080p item, the picture ultimately turns out to be much better in quality (the video is saved from Youtube in the "2K" format, the player window is reduced to 1080p):

With a slight increase in the source, the conversion bitrate more than doubled - from 4 to 10 Mb / s, and it seems to me that this is a reasonable limit for Internet downloads.
This is how the uploaded video on Youtube looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ElvfhfFL5o(don't forget to enable 1080p in settings).

Not ideal, of course, but for 10 Mb / s - more than adequate.
You must also understand that the problem of low bitrate is of course not relevant for all videos. I have a difficult case here - a lot of movement across the frame area, and to improve the grading, I added a little grain, which itself eats up the useful volume of the video stream.

So far, I only know this way to increase the quality of videos to more or less watchable. If you have any developments of your own, I will be glad to comment.
