How to make an a4 page in a Word. How to make letters on the whole A4 sheet in Word

They are prepared mainly on A4 (210x297) and A5 (148x210) paper. Certain types of documents containing tables and graphs - statements, plans, etc., are drawn up in A3 (297x420) format. These formats were adopted in our country back in the 1920s and are based on the German formats widespread in Western countries.

The metric system was adopted to measure formats. The area of the main format is equal to a square meter, and the sides of the main format are 0.841 mx 1.189 m. Each subsequent format is obtained from the previous one by dividing in half, and all the resulting formats are geometrically similar. All formats are divided into three main rows - A, B, C. The formats of the main row are obtained by sequentially dividing the main format in half (see Table 2).

Table 2. Formats of consumer papers

A-0 - 841x1189

А-2 - 420x594

А-3 - 297x420

А-4 - 210x297

А-5 - 148x210

A-b - 105x148

Formats introduced a certain order, system and fixed the restrictions on the size of paper sizes for the production of documents. Formats are required in our country for management documentation today. These formats are also accepted by ISO (International Organization for Standardization).

Consumer paper formats in different countries do not coincide "but the most widespread in Europe are German formats" and in the US North American paper formats, where the main format - analogue A4 - is equal to the size of 21.59 cm x 27.94 cm.

V computer programs, even localized ones (in Russian), paper sizes and margins that do not correspond to national standards can be set as default settings. Therefore, when starting to work in MS Word, you need to install standard size paper adopted in our country - A4 as used for all documents created.

Field sizes

The sizes of the fields are also set. In accordance with the recommendations of GOST 6.30-2003, they should be not less: left margin - 20 mm; right margin - 10 mm; top margin - 20 mm; bottom margin - 20 mm.

These are the minimum margins, smaller margins are not allowed, since further processing and storage of documents will be difficult, but large margins are acceptable. Therefore, the indicated margin sizes are usually used for documents of operational correspondence, and for documents of long-term and permanent storage periods, which will be bound or hemmed into a file, a left margin of 35 mm should be set.

Numbering sheets

If drawn up on two or more sheets, the second and subsequent sheets are numbered. Page numbers are put in the middle of the top margin in Arabic numerals without the word "page" (page or e.). Dots and dashes are not used. If the document is made on both sides of the sheet, then odd numbers are affixed on the front side, and even numbers on the back.

Notebooks with ruled sheets - naturally evoke in us associations of school years. However, a ruled or squared sheet template made in a text editor MS Word can be useful for you not only for writing lessons, but also for a host of other things when you have to "work" not only with the keyboard, but also with an ordinary ballpoint pen. Writing an application form by hand, making a sheet for a homemade notebook and similar actions - you must agree, it is much easier if the sheet is also equipped with a "ruler" that simplifies handwritten "data entry".

Three types of sheet ruler: in a ruler, in a cage and in an oblique ruler. Today we will learn how to do all three types in MS Word.

Today I will tell you how to make a ruled sheet template in A4 format. we will work, of course, in a text editor MS Word. Also, in addition to the lesson, at the end of the article you can download ready-to-print MS Word sheet ruler templates and squares. Forward!

Making a lined A4 sheet in MS Word

Let's create a blank MS Word document and save it as a template in any convenient place on your computer. Let's move on to the "Insert" tab and in the group " Tables»We will use a well-known tool "Insert Table".

In the window that appears, set the following parameters:

  • Number of columns: 1 (strictly 1).
  • Number of cells: more (30-50 is fine).

Click "OK" and see what happened. As you can see, the contours of the future ruled line are already visible, although, of course, it is still too early to send the document for printing.

Let's go to Layout tab(it is active if the table we inserted earlier is selected), and in the "Cell size" group Increase the spacing between our ruled lines. I will expose the height lines of 1 centimeter, if you have a sweeping handwriting, you can make it larger, but do not accelerate too much - a height of 1.5 cm is already a bit too much.

Setting the spacing between lined lines

If you are using the default MS Word template, then it makes sense to also change - for printed document they may be suitable, but for handwritten ones they are too big. Just stretch the rulers to the desired height and width and move on.

Turn on the rulers in a text editor, if you haven't done so before

By the way - if you do not see the rulers, most likely they are simply disabled. Go to the "View" tab and check the corresponding box. The rulers will immediately appear in their rightful places!

Well, let's finish the work on the ruler of our sheet:

  • select the entire previously created table, right-click and select the "Table Properties" item.
  • in the window that appears, on the first tab, press the "Borders and Fill" button.
  • turn off the display of the side borders of the table by clicking on the corresponding icons and click on "OK". Since there is only one column in our table, after this operation, only the ruler should remain on the sheet of the document - horizontal lines going one above the other, just like in a school notebook.

Creating a linear document ruler in MS Word

Almost everything is done!

If you run our lined A4 sheet for printing right now, the result may not please you - the lines will be barely visible. If you are going to use the ruler as a "reference line" when writing your letter, then this is even better, but if you want to make the lines clearer, there is an additional step to be done.

Select the entire table again, right-click on it and go to "Table Properties", and then to Borders and Fills.

By setting the color and thickness of the lines, you can make the sheet ruled almost invisible or very visible

Here, in the Width field, change the default 0.5 pt to 1.5 pt (at least 1 pt). Do not rush to click "OK", first "curse" with the mouse the necessary lines on the explanatory figure in the "Sample" block for the changes to take effect. But now, feel free to press "Ok" and admire the result - it will be hard not to notice such a ruler when printing a lined sheet!

The final result is a ruled A4 sheet. Below you can download this document template completely free.

A4 sheet ruled in a cage in MS Word

We figured out the ruler, now is the time to go to the sheet ruled in a cage- the same one as in a math notebook or on sheets notebook... In fact, the principle is the same here, just a little different ways of working.

We create new document MS Word and save it to disk. We pass to the "Insert" tab and choose Insert Table tool.

Table settings for creating A4 sheet lined in a cage

In the window that appears, set the values (provided that the margins of the document are slightly reduced compared to the default size - for example, I set margins of 2 cm to the left and 1 cm to the right and top and 1.5 to the bottom):

  • Number of columns: 36 .
  • Number of cells: 52 .

Click "OK" and see a "fine-grained" table covering the part of the sheet.

Set the size of the cells of the lined sheet

Now let's adjust the size of the cells - select the inserted table, go to to the "Layout" tab and forcibly set the size of the cells in height and width by one value: 0.5 cm (2 cells of the standard ruler are equal to one centimeter).

Now everything is ready - you can safely send our page lined in a cage for printing!

Change the color of the sheet ruler to gray to look more like a classic

p.s. If after printing it turns out that the cells on the sheet are too dark, just change the color of the table lines. To do this, go back to the "Borders and Fill" and in the "" Color "select one of the shades of gray. The final ruler of the sheet will look completely "like a notebook".

A4 sheet ruling in an oblique ruler

... not good news: standard tools create a ruler in a slanting cell, in MS Word no. However, there would be a desire!

The first thing to do is to line the A4 sheet in a text editor in a way that is already familiar to us, but only the distance between the individual ruler lines should be smaller. For example, I set the row height to 0.8 cm instead of 1 cm.

Creating a sheet ruler in an oblique ruler in a Word is neither simple nor intuitive

Now let's work with the handles a little: move the mouse cursor to the third line from the top, press and hold the left mouse button and drag it down a little. Thus, a free space is formed between the 2nd and 3rd lines of our ruler (its height is approximately 1.5 cm). Also, just move down a little bit every third ruler line and we end up with a lined sheet similar to what I got.

Now the most interesting thing: the oblique ruler is called oblique because, in addition to the horizontal ruler lines, it also contains diagonal lines crossing the sheet from top to bottom, the very ones that help the child not to forget about the slope of the letters when writing.

By the way, have you ever wondered what is the angle of inclination of the lines when ruling into an oblique ruler? It turns out that it is strictly defined by the standard and exactly corresponds to 65 degrees (more precisely, 25 degrees, after all, we are looking at the sheet from below!). It is these diagonals that we will draw with you in our template.

Now let's just draw the oblique ruler!

On the panel "Insert" choose Shapes tool and indicate the type of tool: Line.

Now draw a long line on the sheet strictly vertically (hold shift) and double click we activate its settings.

On the Format tab, in the Arrange group, select the Rotate tool, and then More Rotation Options.

In the opened window "AutoShape Format" in field "Turn" specify the desired value: 25 degrees, and click "OK". The line will acquire the desired "oblique" slope, by the way, its ideal height for a standard MS Word sheet should be 29 centimeters.

Set the slope of the oblique line

Well, that's all, it remains to copy the line the required number of times and distribute it evenly over the sheet, while not forgetting to adjust the size of the lines in height so that they do not crawl out of the main ruler of the sheet. Congratulations, your A4 oblique ruler created entirely in MS Word is completely ready!

You can download a ready-made A4 document template with oblique ruling from the link below in MS Word format.

Let's continue. Typically, the font size is set by selection from the list. In this case, everything is the same. Type your letter, select it with the mouse and set the desired size. But the creators of Word and other programs didn’t think that to someone will come to mind to put such font size at which one letter occupies as much as the entire A4 sheet. For this reason, in the font size selection list maximum size not so great - "only" 72 points.

Since there is no required size, then you can simply write it in the selection list, as shown in the figure, since the font size selection list is editable (what, what ???). Unclear? Then you urgently need to learn Windows.

Again. Select your letter, then erase what is written there in the font selection list and write what you need. What number should I write? This, generally speaking, depends on what type of font is chosen. Pick up until your letter is exactly the size of A4 sheet. In my example, this is 800 points (more precisely, it was too lazy to select).

There was an important part of the article, but without JavaScript it is not visible!

Other ways to enlarge a letter to A4 size

As you may have noticed, the above method of stretching the letter to the entire A4 sheet has an obvious drawback - no matter how you increase the font size, the letter stubbornly does not want to become in the center of A4. In the example below, this drawback is completely eliminated and the letter is located exactly in the center of A4 sheet.

This example solves the problem in a different way, but again in Word. It is worth remembering that almost any task has more than one implementation method. You just need to be well versed in what you are doing. Nevertheless, method number one is much more popular - few people want to think!

How to print numbers on the whole A4 sheet in Word

A very similar task - in my opinion, and generally completely similar to the one discussed above. To create huge numbers for A4 size, you can use all the same methods that I showed in. So if you need to make one number fit on the sheet (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or number 0), then consider that you can already do it. Well, this, of course, if you carefully read what was written above.

And in addition to this, I, perhaps, will show you another way to increase the inscriptions on the entire sheet. Namely - outline symbols in A4 size. An example is shown in the figure. True, there is already a fill, but you can guess for yourself how to remove it ... (hint: shape properties).

site_

Why is this needed? Well, for example, in order to paint all this later. :) Indeed, color printers are not so common. By the way, you can read about printing color images on a black and white printer.

To make the figure in the entire A4 sheet, first remove the margins or make them as narrow as possible (about changing margins). After that, from the Ribbon menu in the "Insert" section, select WordArt and add it to the sheet. Then just increase the font, everything is clear here. Only one feature should be taken into account.

Use the text box handles around the edges to expand the margin so that your number fits. Otherwise, it will go beyond the borders of the frame and part of the number will not be visible. You also need to center the text so that it is in the middle of the sheet. To do this, drag it outside the border of the frame (usually down).

Features of printing letters in A4 sheet size

There are some peculiarities of text printing such sizes that I have not shown above (lazily). You can watch this in a demo video where I show you the process of creating giant letters in Word.

Video tutorial on increasing letters and numbers in Word to A4 sheet size

Enough simple example shows how to make a letter or number of huge sizes. Large inscriptions are usually printed from such letters. How to do this, see the video.

The need to change the page format in MS Word does not arise very often. However, when it is required to do this, not all users of this program understand how to make a page larger or smaller.

By default, Word, like most text editors, provides the ability to work on a standard A4 sheet, but like most of the default parameters in this program, the page format can also be changed quite easily. It is about how to do this that will be discussed in this short article.

1. Open the document for which you want to change the page format. On the panel quick access go to tab "Layout".

Note: In older versions of the text editor, the tools necessary for changing the format are located in the tab "Page layout".

2. Click the button "The size" located in the group "Page settings".

3. Select the appropriate format from the list in the drop-down menu.

If none of the presented in the list suits you, select the option "Other paper sizes" and then do the following:

In the tab "Paper size" window "Page settings" in the section of the same name, select the appropriate format or set the dimensions manually by specifying the width and height of the sheet (indicated in centimeters).

Note: In chapter "Sample" you can see a scaled example of the page you are resizing.

Here standard values current sheet formats (values are in centimeters, width in relation to height):

A5- 14.8x21

A4- 21x29.7

A3- 29.7x42

A2- 42x59.4

A1- 59.4x84.1

A0- 84.1x118.9

Once you have entered the required values, click "OK" to close the dialog.

The format of the sheet will change, filling it in, you can save the file, send it by e-mail or print to a printer. The latter is possible only if the MFP supports the page format you specified.

That, in fact, is all, as you can see, changing the sheet format in Word is not difficult at all. Master this text editor and be productive, academic and work success.

How many words fit on a piece of paper? It depends on the type of document, on the user who creates this document, not to mention who it is intended for ...

The standard paper on which most documents are printed is A4 size. It is her that Word considers a standard page, the elements of which (fields, etc.) the user can change at their discretion. But the user can choose a different page format. The program allows you to set any page size - from a small sticker to a huge "sheet".

Setting the page size is done using the dialog box Page settings... Next, you will learn how to change the settings for the size of the paper you intend to print on.

  1. Select a team File> Options pages. A dialog box will appear Page settings.
  2. Make sure the tab is active Paper size.

Your dialog box should look similar to what it looks like in Fig. 14.1. If the window looks different, click on the tab label Paper size.

  1. Click on the dropdown Paper size.

A list of common paper sizes opens.

  1. Select a new size from the list.

For example, B4 (25x35.4 cm).

Almost all printers can print on multiple paper sizes. However, the list also includes such sizes that will not fit your device for printing; not to mention the fact that you have to puzzle over the question of where to get paper of this size. Word will not be able to enlarge a sheet of A4 paper by a few centimeters!

  1. In the list Apply choose To the whole document or Until the end of the document.

Selecting the To whole document option means that the new size will be applied to the entire document, from start to finish. Selecting the To end of document option means that the new size will be set for the current page (that is, the one in which the cursor is located) and all subsequent pages of the document. If your document is divided into sections, you can select the Go to current section option, and then the new size will be set only for the pages of the current section. (For more on partitions, see Chapter 15.)

  1. Click on the button OK. Fine!

Rice. 14.1. Page Setup dialog box with Paper Size tab

The new paper size is set.

  • Note that page parameters are set using the File menu, not Format. This is a common mistake of novice users, although there is some truth in their logic. The question arises about the correctness of the computer logic ...
  • If you are going to print on custom sized paper, be sure to load it in the printer. Some smart printers even tell you what paper is required. My printer, for example, requires one size or another paper all the time. Very similar to my wife ...
  • Possibly on the list Paper size the size of the paper you are printing on. In this case, select another option from the list, and then enter the required size manually - in the fields Width and Height.
  • Don't forget about the area Sample dialog box Page settings... It will show you what the resized sheet looks like.
