Sony xperia z5 premium phone. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

The level of popularity and reputation of the brand makes it possible not to separately present it to readers. And the company's products can be attributed to the first echelon, both in quality and manufacturability.

It just so happened that the Japanese manufacturer produces smartphones a lot and often. We didn’t skimp on the number of models this time. Buyers can choose from the regular Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 with dual SIM support, the Xperia Z5 Premium with a larger display and incredible clarity, and the Xperia Z5 Premium with dual SIM support. It is the last option (model E6883) that we will study in this review.

If we compare the fresh line of Sony mobile devices with the predecessor Sony Xperia Z3 + Dual, then we will not find much difference. This is especially true for the usual Xperia Z5 without the Premium prefix. Of the significant changes, only the appearance of a fingerprint scanner can be noted. But the Premium version also features a 5.5-inch display with UHD resolution. Otherwise, this is the same Z3 + or standard Z5.

Of course, we are dealing with a flagship, which, as they say, implements "full stuffing", including a rugged case and countless technologies. In this regard, the smartphone turned out to be clearly not for the poor. In such a situation, Sony has no right to any significant shortcomings in its offspring.

The device can be found on sale in one hardware modification: three GB random access memory and 32 GB of onboard storage. Sony smartphones are officially shipped to Russian market and hence are accompanied by local support. Available in black, chrome and gold body colors.

Thanks to the online store Video-shoper.ru, we have a gold one on the test Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual. The average price for this device is this moment is 55,000 rubles. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual is already available in a sufficient number of outlets.

Let's start our study of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual with brief description its specifications.

Specifications Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual

It is interesting to see what are the differences between our flagship from the usual Xperia Z5 and from the current predecessors, so we will give the characteristics in comparison.

We have at our disposal a smartphone with a serious set of characteristics and a wide range of capabilities. There is especially nothing to find fault with here. The flagship is what you need (at least in numbers). We can say that Android system here is not the most recent, but an update to version 6.0 is expected. One can complain about the high price, but it looks quite adequate in US dollars (no more than the leading models of previous years).

Why are we being asked to pay 10 thousand rubles on top of the cost of a regular Xperia Z5? The pixel density of the 0.3-inch enlarged display is just off scale here, which is main feature smartphone Xperia Z5 Premium. The smartphone is bigger, heavier and doesn't come in green. Is it worth such a surcharge, which is inconspicuous for human eye the difference in display clarity, you decide ...

Even more questionable is the advantage of the Xperia Z5 Dual over the Xperia Z3 + Dual. The difference is the same 10 thousand, but only a fingerprint scanner was added and a few little things changed. The last Xperia Z3 Dual is certainly not so cheerful, but it's too early to write it off.

From our comparison, we see that Sony "feeds us goodies" in a very metered manner. The evolution is slow and very restrained. Talk about the dramatic improvements that should make previous owners Xperia models running to the store is clearly inappropriate here. Sony's behavior is similar to that of its Cupertino comrades. Apple, by adding a fingerprint scanner and a couple of software chips to the same case, could sell millions of "new flagships" because there is a cult following for the company and its products.

Sony is probably better off surprising users and not exactly with what they are trying to surprise. Who needs an expensive, gluttonous, and pointless 5.5-inch 4K display from a user standpoint? It must be assumed that this only flatters the feeling of the importance of the company itself.

Packaging and equipment Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual

The smartphone came to the test in a white high-quality box made of matte thick cardboard.

Images of a smartphone and its main parameters are printed on the surface of the package.

The delivery set is neatly packed in separate boxes with contents identification.

The following package is included under the smartphone:

  • USB cable;
  • Charger 5.0 V, 1.8 A;
  • Headset headphones with additional attributes;
  • Documentation.

The quality of all components of the delivery is very good.

The headphones were put in vacuum. This is a Sony branded headset. The sound should be pretty good. Various sizes of interchangeable eartips were attached for different ears. There is a crocodile clip for attaching to clothes.

On the wire there is a control panel with a microphone and one button.

This is what the plug looks like. Here we see the headphone model: Sony MH750. They cost about 600 rubles separately.

Now let's go directly to the device itself.

* The term "4K smartphone" refers to a smartphone with a UHD display and 4K resolution that can shoot, play back, and send (MHL standard) 4K video. Performance verified using Strategy Analytics' SpecTRAX service (as of 3 July 2015). For more information on the results of the Strategy Analytics study, please visit the page.
** 3840 pixels horizontal × 2160 pixels vertical (based on SID standard).
*** We recommend using a triple shielded cable.
**** Battery life measured based on typical smartphone use profile as defined by Sony Mobile Communications Inc. in September 2014. This profile reflects the most common ways of using a smartphone (calls, text messages, Internet, social networks, playing games, listening to music, taking photos, viewing images and online videos, recording and playing videos, etc.).
***** Xperia Z5 Premium is water and dust resistant, so it is not afraid of pouring rain or washing under the tap (however, remember that all ports and covers must be securely closed). The device must not be completely submerged under water or exposed to sea water, salt water, chlorinated water or liquids such as alcohol. Misuse or misuse of the device will void the warranty. The device has been assigned protection class IP65 / 68. additional information can be viewed on the page>. Please note that the Xperia Z5 Premium has a USB charging port for connecting to other devices, which is not covered by a lid. If your smartphone has been exposed to water, charge it only after the USB port is completely dry.

Most big smartphone in the Z5 lineup and certainly the most advanced - a 4K display is installed here, a "frame" made of stainless steel, very unusual appearance(especially in the silver version) plus all the advantages of a simple Z5.

Design, construction

The most important thing you need to know about the device is a large and rather heavy phablet. Weight - about 180 grams, not aluminum, but smooth stainless steel, the color of the material differs depending on the version of the device. Note that the Z5 and Z5 Compact are close to ideal in terms of daily use, fingerprints are invisible on the matte material. Well, Premium reminds iPod Touch where the rear mirror surface instantly lost its luster after the first collision with the hands. And here is the same story, neat people will have to carry a napkin with them or wipe the device with a handkerchief. Three versions of the device will go on sale in November, silver, black and gold, of course, without gold in any way. Girls will love gold and mirror. Why did the designers suddenly come up with such an idea, why they did not use successful solutions in the Z5, I don’t know. Apparently, they wanted to somehow highlight the device from the general line. It turned out not very practical.

Compared to Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact

On the right is the same button with a fingerprint sensor, the rest of the controls are typical: a subtle volume rocker, a camera button, all buttons are made of metal. Under the flap - slots for microSD and nanoSIM, a version with two SIM-cards will also be. The device is protected from water to the same standards as other Z5s - it will withstand a rainstorm, but you should not throw it away. Here, the corners are the same as in the entire line, when they fall, they take a blow on themselves and do not allow energy to spread over the entire area of the body. The dimensions of the phablet are 154.4 x 75.8 x 7.8 mm, the weight, as I said, is 180 grams. The assembly is excellent, there are no complaints here.

There are no special emotions when looking at the device. I mean emotions like in the case of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus - when a person says "wow" and certainly wants to spin the gadget. In this sense, Premium is perceived much more calmly, no one is reaching out to it, and even when you say that there is a 4K display, this does not change the situation in any way. Good or bad - everyone decides for himself.

The microUSB connector at the bottom is without a cap.

Display

The most important part this smartphone- display. Sony believes in the future of 4K content and wants to be the first in everything that comes with this format. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a 4K IPS display, diagonal - 5.5 inches, resolution - 3840 x 2160 pixels, 807ppi, a number of proprietary technologies are supported, these are TRILUMINOS and X-Reality Engine. Here's what they write on the official website:

  • X-Reality for mobile analyzes every image on the screen and optimizes color, sharpness and contrast. As a result, you get photos and videos with the highest detail and low noise.
  • TRILUMINOS Display and LED Live Color technology provide the widest color gamut with vibrant reds, natural greens and blues.

Company representatives say that all content, programs, photos and videos will be scaled to display resolution, let's see how it will look in real life. Now prototypes only have basic programs, not the best story for the test - the sites look fine, but how things will be with the videos loaded into memory, let's see in the review. The device will go on sale in November. I would like to say more about the screen, but this is rather difficult - it seems to me, as in the case of 3D, Sony is not thinking about that. Remember how the company embed 3D everywhere, from simple soap dishes to laptops with 3D screens. Yes, there were some VAIOs. And where is all this? Undoubtedly the display high resolution in a smartphone is very good, but how many consumers will want to pay for such an exotic solution? Let's see.

Fingerprint scanner

I tried the scanner on prototypes, I'll tell you how everything happens. A corresponding section appears in the "Security" menu, where you can bind up to five fingerprints to the sensor. The process itself is simple, apply your finger several times until the scale is full, everything looks like the others similar systems... Then you indicate what exactly the sensor will do, well, and start using it. I like that unlocking takes a split second, put your finger on and immediately find yourself on the desktop, without pattern keys and other nonsense. Note that you don't even need to press a button, just put your finger on it. There were practically no false positives - if there were, it was probably my fault.

Everyone has a scanner with a button flagship smartphones Sony, so this chapter is identical for Sony Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

Note that the placement of the sensor in the button seems to me the most logical. The finger falls here by itself (if you are left-handed, the button will have the index finger of your left hand), the setting is elementary, the work does not raise any questions. Don't like the fingerprint scanner? Use a regular password - but you only have to spend time on it every time you want to do something with your smartphone.

Cameras

For now, I will only say that the main camera is 23 MP, the Exmor RS module is used, the front camera is 5 MP with wide-angle optics for creating excellent selfies. There is also news about the camera:

  • In the Sony Xperia M5, you can see the company's approach to photography in modern devices... People want great shots even in low light, digital zoom, people want fast autofocus. And all this is here!
  • I'll start with autofocus, which is said to take less than 0.1 seconds. We need to see how it works in reality, in the review I will tell you about what kind of system is used here. Sony says that the camera in mobile devices these days the same guys are engaged who developed various systems for cameras "Alpha"
  • They also declare that the 5x digital zoom will not affect the quality of the images.
  • Support for shooting video in 4K is declared (and it is allegedly even supported to output images in 4K to external sources)

There are all modes familiar to Sony, this is augmented reality and not only, many of them can be downloaded from Play Market... In life, autofocus is really fast. Another interesting innovation, it is now possible to shoot in a smart automatic mode with a resolution of 20 MP and an aspect ratio of 16: 9, when using the maximum resolution (23 MP) it will be 4: 3. Previously (for example, the Z3) you could use either 8 MP and 16: 9, or 4: 3 with full resolution ... I hope I made it clear - I personally want to shoot with an aspect ratio of 16: 9 and a resolution of 20 MP.

Performance

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor is used, as you know, this is a rather "warm" solution, so this will need to be given special attention in the review. You can read more about the processor and. The rest of the functions are as follows: 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, a slot for microSD, there is support for LTE. Android version will need to be checked at the time the device appears on sale. Responsible for the graphics Adreno 430, wireless interfaces - Bluetooth 4.1 and 802.11n / ac. Let me remind you again that there will be a version with two SIM-cards and support for LTE. They say that the CPU heating was defeated.

Peculiarities

A little about other features of the smartphone:

  • Paired with PS4 is supported, in other words, Xperia turns into a screen, pick up a joystick and play. Considering the diagonal of the display, it is better not to do this on a "compact"
  • Old accessories are supported - I mean, from other Z series smartphones with a five-pin connector. A noise canceling headset and microphone will work great.
  • A new headset Sony MDR-NC750 was announced, there is noise cancellation, and the built-in microphones can be used when shooting video, which (as they say) allows you to record sound with unprecedented quality. I have not checked it yet. The function only works with the Z5 family.
  • Much less pre-installed garbage, this is also noticeable.

Working hours

Installed 3430 mAh battery, technology supported fast charging QuickCharge 2.0. In theory, the device can work for about two days, but it all depends on the load. The bundled power supply will be different, it does not support QuickCharge - you will have to buy such a power supply separately. I would like to remind you that I tested the UCH-10, a power supply with QuickCharge support, you can read it.

conclusions

As I said above, the device will go on sale in November, I am very interested in what you have to say about this device. I'll try to name key features:

  • Not flashy design, good build and materials, stainless steel and glass are used here. You can see the colors in the photo, silver, gold and black, all mirrored. Oddly enough, the most unmarked is gold. And with the help of silver, you can look over your shoulder.
  • 4K display is not bad for those who consume a lot of content, watch videos, play games. But the device cannot be called a phablet either.
  • We'll see how the camera works in the review, but I want to believe that Sony will surprise us
  • The processor is also a feature and advantage.
  • There is a version with two SIM-cards and support for LTE
  • Fingerprint scanner

A new president has come to power in Sony's Japanese mobile division. This is Hiroki Totoki. His accession to the throne became the reason for the introduction of a number of serious technological (and not only) changes that somehow influenced the fate of the company and its products. An example is Sony model Xperia Z5 Premium, the review of which the user will meet in this informational article. To make it more interesting, we will not only talk about the model, but also consider her closest relatives. These are the Z5 and Z5 "Compact", from which, in fact, the modification under the name "Premium" has grown.

How the subline appeared

After many years of experience and experimentation, Sony Mobile Corporation has come to the conclusion that the most effective lever for attracting new customers and retaining old ones is to use branded "chips". At the same time, it turned out that they need not only to be created and implemented, but also to be regularly improved.

An essential condition for the popularity of a company in the international mobile arena is its focus on the needs of potential users. All three of these factors have led Sony Mobile to create a line called Xperia Z5. It also includes a device called Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, a review of which has become the topic of today's article. Thus, the Z5 series was formed by three models. This is a standard smartphone, as well as its modified (but also more expensive) devices, called "Compact" and, accordingly, "Premium".

What common?

If you pay close attention to obtaining information about the ruler, then it is easy to notice one simple fact. For example, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual smartphone, along with its predecessors, has become part of the concept, which, with a light hand, the company's engineers and designers called the “Sense of unity”. Which, in principle, has certain practical grounds. Those who long time has experience with the devices of a Japanese company, they can say that there is not much difference between “Sense of Oneness” and “Omnibalance”. Indeed, at first glance, this is exactly what it seems. But if you try to pick up the same Sony phone The Xperia Z5 Premium, and even then on closer inspection, you will see a startling number of subtle differences.

The Japanese approach to the creation of the apparatus

Even in the early stages of design, representatives of the Japanese company said that they make the difference between things more noticeable due to the careful execution of the smallest components. Thus, even when the same Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, reviews of which can be found at the end of the article, existed only on paper and in the violent heads of engineers and designers, the company's approach to the release of a new line was extremely clear.

In words, it all looks somewhat confusing and ambiguous, so we will try to figure out how this concept was applied in practice.

So the Premium model was equipped with a glass back panel with a mirror effect. Its predecessors received a similar material with a fogging effect. Why did the designers do this? In the first case, they tried to highlight the model, to show that this is really the same "Premium". In the second case, it was required to make the apparatus as practical as possible. And the “misted” glass is one of the ways that made it possible to achieve this, since now the device does not slip in the hand and gets less dirty.

Concept applied in the Z5

Since the descendants of the samurai are precisely the Japanese, and here the experts do not forget to joke that the masters of the ancient martial arts themselves said that the smartphone should become an extension of the hand. Probably, each of us would like to constantly feel the convenience and comfort when working with his smartphone. This is not to say that Sony Mobile was able to achieve this in all of its creations, but in the case of the Z5 Premium, it clearly succeeded.

I was pleasantly surprised that the color of the interface theme matches the color of the device itself. In general, I would like to note the work of the company's software engineers, since they made the interface not only beautiful and efficient to use, but also as clear and comfortable as possible. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual Review technical characteristics which we will carry out a little later, now uses a fingerprint scanner to unlock, for example. It can be found on the right side and is embedded in the power control button. By the way, one cannot fail to mention that it was the Z5 that became the first line (all over the world!), In which 3D ultrasound technologies are used for scanning.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual: camera review

All three smartphones in the series are equipped with a camera with the same resolution. It equals 23 megapixels. The focus is of the hybrid type, that is, it is phase and contrast together. Interestingly, the representatives of the Japanese company made a statement in which they mentioned that the "Premium" will have the fastest focusing on the subject, and it will be only three hundredths of a second. To date, this figure is a record.

At the same time, it will be possible to use a 5x digital zoom without loss of quality. As for the front cameras, we don't see any major differences. All three devices of the line are equipped with modules with a resolution of five megapixels. Video can be shot in so-called 4K quality. And it really pleases. It's nice to see that the engineers for such smartphones did not significantly limit the possibilities. Algorithms for creating photos and recording videos were worked out by the software department to glory. In their work, the engineers relied on ensuring that there are no blurry photos, as well as improving the quality when zooming. In general, there can be no complaints about the device here.

Features of appearance

We can say that the model returns more to the rigor that was characteristic of the Z and Z2 generations. The case cannot be called otherwise than solid. It has an impressive appearance, its thickness is almost seven and a half millimeters (to be more precise, it is 7.45). Feelings at the first are pleasant enough. And all thanks to the fact that the one-piece frame was made from a mixture of frosted glass and polished aluminum. But there are some similarities between the Z5 and Z3 +.

For example, the frame protrudes from the front and rear surfaces by a fraction of a millimeter. A similar move is used by many companies in their creations and is designed to help avoid sliding the model when placed horizontally on a particular surface. In some ways, this solution should please users. It is practical and sometimes very helpful. But it is much more pleasant to feel a completely smooth edge in the hand. As it was, for example, in the case of the Z3.

If we talk about color schemes, there are four of them. These are graphite black, white, green and of course gold. The device is called Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Gold in this outfit. As you can see, the designers and marketers weren't particularly smart with the name.

Sony Premium: reviews

It has been a long time since the model became available for purchase. This means that we can analyze the reviews of different people about the device. Recall that the cost of this model is currently almost 60 thousand rubles. The device is rightfully called the flagship. And for devices of such a discharge there is one characteristic feature - to collect in itself the best that was previously proposed in a number of other devices. This is what we, in fact, can see on the example of "Premium". However, this does not mean that the smartphone has no flaws. It has. However, we will talk about them a little later, and now we will present strengths devices.

pros

The first advantage is, of course, the device's cameras. The main module is 23 megapixels and the front one is 5 - why not beauty? And if you consider the fact that you can shoot video in 4K quality, in general, you can be very pleasantly surprised. The powerful stuffing (you can read more about it in the paragraph of the technical characteristics) allows you to cope with the multitasking mode without any problems. Although this is already a basic feature of even budget devices.

More importantly, the cores handle a heavy load, which makes it possible to run the most demanding toys. You don't see this every day, but it would be strange if the device for 60 thousand rubles did not allow you to do this. By the way, such a cost was clearly inflated by manufacturers, since there are no competitors in the sector of the model.

Minuses

Among the disadvantages is the density of dots on the screen. Many experts say that in this area the indicators do not correspond to reality. There are also complaints about the hardware. Yes, the phone can handle the most powerful toys. However, at times, due to strong overheating, the FPS falls, which greatly affects performance. Otherwise, everything suits everyone.

Specifications

The device works in the GSM and UMTS bands. For use, LTE channels are provided, thanks to the corresponding module, the smartphone supports work in cellular networks fourth generation. For communication, two SIM cards are used, which must first be processed according to the NanoSIM standard. From wireless interfaces the following are available: "Bluetooth" version 4.1, analog radio and Wi-Fi operating in the a, b, g, n, ac bands. Navigation in space is provided by three technologies at once: American GPS, Russian GLONASS and Chinese BeiDou.

OS, memory, hardware

As operating system on board the device is installed "Android" version 5.1. The built-in RAM is three gigabytes. Recall that we have a built-in device from Qualcomm as a chipset, model Snapdragon 810, named MCM8994. Thus, the processor has eight cores. Half of them are clocked at 1.5 GHz and the other half are clocked at 2 GHz.

The role of the graphics accelerator is played by Adreno 430. Let us recall the cameras again. The front one has a resolution of 5 megapixels, the main one - 23. It is equipped, by the way, with an automatic focusing function. Almost 22 gigabytes of permanent memory are available to the user, but its total volume is 32 GB. The smartphone supports the installation of external drives.

Display, sensors, autonomous operation

The capacitive screen has a diagonal of 5.5 inches. The display matrix is made according to IPS technology, multi-touch function is supported. The set of sensors "contains" a barometer, and approximations, a pedometer, a microgyroscope and a fingerprint scanner. The built-in battery is rated at 3430 milliamps per hour. The device weighs 181 grams.
