Sony xperia t2 ultra black. Xperia T2 Ultra Dual smartphone: model review, customer and expert reviews

The Xperia T2 Ultra Dual phone is positioned on the market as a mid-range device, a functional and stylish gadget with a wide range of possibilities for listening to audio, photographing and recording video. The model has enough big screen, capacious battery and a wide range of hardware resources (such as, in particular, built-in flash memory).

According to one of the classifications adopted in the expert community of the IT market, a smartphone can be classified as a "phablet" device. The term is fairly new. It is intended to characterize a device that occupies an intermediate position between a smartphone and a tablet). This approach to the classification of mobile gadgets, according to a number of marketers, will reflect a new trend in the assembly of devices: when it makes no sense for brands to compete in technology, you can arrange a competition in the field of device design engineering. Moreover, it is possible to do this in any segment. Budget "phablet" - why not?

How successful is Sony's solution in this regard? To what extent is the phablet theory valid for the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual? What are the features of this device?

What's in the box?

The standard delivery set of the phone contains, in fact, the device itself, a USB cable for communication with a PC and recharging from an outlet, as well as the necessary documentation. There are headphones of the MH410c type, which are very simple in terms of technology, but quite functional. The Xperia T2 Ultra Dual does not come with other accessories, such as a case, as standard. However, finding similar products is not a problem. It is enough to walk to the nearest salon cellular... Many experts, by the way, praise the very box in which the phone comes - it looks expensive and stylish.

Design and dimensions

Most experts praise the phone for its good design, noting the elegance of the slim body and the stylish display. Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual, experts believe, has a look that is equally suitable for men and women, as well as people of all ages. It may well be said that the target audience the buyers of the device are quite wide.

Those who have tested the device note that it is very comfortable to use. The smartphone fits nicely in the hand, easily fits into a pocket or purse. The device is medium-sized (length - 165.2 mm, width - 93.8, thickness - 7.65). The phone is produced in three colors - white, black and purple. The body of the device is made of high quality plastic.

On the end sides there are nice silver-colored inserts. like most other smartphones, it is located above the display. Near it there are two standard sensors - lighting and motion (proximity). The voice speaker is covered with a perforated strip made of metal (very similar elements are also present at the bottom of the case and at the back). The audio jack is located on the right side of the device. At the back is the main camera equipped with a flash and a microphone, as well as an NFC radio component.

On the right side of the case there is a flap, opening which, the user will see the slots for SIM-cards (standard and micro-SIM). On the left side there is a slot for the phone. There is also a micro-USB connector on the phone, through which the device can be connected to a PC and other devices. The phone has a small indicator light that turns red when the battery is charging.

According to some experts, the brand has tried to make the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual phone as compact as possible for its category. In particular, according to the estimates of a number of testers, the display occupies about 74% of the area of the entire front panel.

From a design point of view, this device can be classified as a device that implements the OmniBalance principle, actively promoted by Sony. This concept implies giving devices such an appearance in which viewing from all sides would be characterized by visible symmetry and clear lines. At the same time, according to some experts, a rather simple material for making the case - plastic, does not quite correlate with OmniBalance. Although there is an opposite point of view. It is often found, in particular among users who have left after using the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual reviews... In their opinion, plastic can no longer be considered a typical "budget" material for a long time. If only because different brands(as well as devices of different classes) the quality of polymers can vary greatly. In expensive segments, users note, plastic is also often used.

Dual SIM support: theory and reality

The device supports the simultaneous use of two SIM-cards, working in almost any communication standards existing today, including LTE. However, there is one caveat: both cards cannot work simultaneously in the mode of using the most modern standards. That is, if a user wants to access the Internet using LTE technology, then he can do it only from one card. The other in this case will only work in the 2G standard. However, this feature is not unique to the Xperia T2. The noted features of the simultaneous use of two SIM-cards are typical for the majority of similar models.

Screen

Xperia smartphone The T2 Ultra Dual has a 6-inch display. Manufacturing technology - TFT. The screen resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels. There is support for HD mode. Experts note that the picture on the display is clearly visible from any viewing angle. The fact that the display technology is not state-of-the-art confuses some experts. Still, TFT is a standard that is becoming a thing of the past and is confidently being replaced by newer solutions. However, those experts who disagree with this point of view argue: the fact that this technology is still relevant, speaks of its undeniable practicality. The Sony brand, they believe, is one of the most advanced in terms of the latest standards, chooses TFT for a reason. This technology, in particular, can greatly influence the desired balance of phone functionality and energy savings. It is known, for example, that many more modern screens(in particular, those working according to the OLED standard) consume more battery resources. The user gets very few benefits in return in terms of image quality.

Hardware and performance

Like many other smartphones manufactured by Sony, this device is equipped with high-performance hardware. It is installed powerful processor MSM8228 with four cores. The clock frequency of the microcircuit is 1.4 GHz. The video subsystem of the smartphone is controlled by a chip. The device is equipped with 1 GB of RAM. There is 8GB of built-in flash memory. Additional modules can be installed, and the phone supports an almost unlimited capacity. The device, according to the testers, works quickly, without freezing and braking. The device has a stereo sound reproduction system (the best listening results will be if a similar standard is supported by the connected headset). The device is equipped with Bluetooth module in the 4th version, there is also support for the Ant + standard (which is most often used to connect sports devices to a smartphone). There is a module for communication via Wi-FI. DLNA standard is supported.

When testing the device using benchmark programs, the following results are achieved. In the popular program AnTuTu smartphone showed a productivity of about 19.3 thousand units. The Quadrant achieved a result of 9.9 thousand points. In another application common among testers, Geekbench 3, the phone shows about 400/1300 points. Experts note the phone's good results when tested using the Stability Test.

The device, like many other Xperia smartphones, shows good performance not only in tests, but also when tested in game mode... It is known that modern gamers are accustomed to having fun on mobile gadgets in the same way as on ordinary PCs. Therefore, manufacturers create games for smartphones and tablets that are in no way inferior in graphics to their "large" prototypes. Of course, in this case, especially high performance is required from the devices.

Testers who ran games on the phone (such as, for example, Asphalt 8) were very pleased to see that there were no noticeable lags and freezes of the device. The quality of the displayed graphics is assessed as high. True, with prolonged use of the smartphone in game mode, the body of the device, as noted by some experts, may noticeably heat up.

Software

The Ultra Dual smartphone runs on Android OS 4.3 (it is possible to upgrade to 4.4.2). There are several pre-installed branded applications (such as Sony Select, Office Suite, Evernote). There is a TrackID program that can find the names of the songs being played on the Internet. The phone is preinstalled with a proprietary player.

The phone is also equipped with a branded system control shell - Xperia Home. This firmware contains original themes and interesting animation. In general, experts point out good quality software present in the device. According to experts, almost all Sony Xperia smartphones are characterized by this positive property, since the brand pays special attention to the quality of software.

Camera

The camera has a fairly high resolution - 13 megapixels. Experts note high quality the pictures she takes (according to some experts, even when you look at the photos in detail on a large computer screen, you can't see that they were taken on a smartphone). There is an opportunity to use various photo effects (including, in particular, the options The camera can also record videos in HD format with good, according to experts, quality. There is defocusing, retouching mode (although it works only for the front camera). There is a Timeshift Burst option, which allows you to take one and a half dozen photos in 1 second. Many experts praise the device for the high quality of the camera in HDR mode.

Battery

The phone's operating time in active use, declared by the manufacturer, is 16 hours, while listening to music - 89, while watching videos - 11. The battery has a fairly large capacity - 3000 mAh. Experts who tested the device received, on the whole, comparable to the stated time autonomous work smartphone in different modes. Many of them were especially pleasantly surprised by the results shown when watching the video. Not every device is capable of playing movies and clips for 10 hours or more.

Expert CV

Experts believe that at a fairly inexpensive price, this device provides the user with a wide range of options. Many people praise the device for good design... A drawback noted by some experts in comparison with the flagship smartphone model (Ultra) is the body assembly materials (but there is a point of view that this feature can not be attributed to disadvantages). The characteristics of the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual smartphone, experts believe, compensate for the insufficiently "prestigious" (according to some) body materials.

Many experts prefer to call the device a "phablet" (or its closest synonym - "tablet-smartphone"). Therefore, it is quite acceptable to assume that the manufacturer has equipped the device with a set of characteristics that would make it possible to say that a rather original gadget is in the user's hands. Not a smartphone, not a tablet, but something that combines the advantages of both devices.

Does this mean that the Sony brand can become a leader in "competition" with other manufacturers of "phablets"? The question is, of course, ambiguous. But the fact that the Japanese corporation has prepared arguments in favor of choosing its own devices is undeniable. "Phablet" from Sony is stylish, beautiful, comfortable, functional, and quite efficient.

What users say

It will be interesting to get acquainted with the opinion of phone users. What are the reviews that characterize the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual? How similar or contrary to the opinions of the experts above are they?

Users note the stability of the device, the high quality of the camera, the presence of a large number of useful applications Pre-installed at the factory, pleasant sound. Of course, many owners note the fact that the price set by the manufacturer of the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual (from $ 320 and more, depending on the "appetites" of the implementers) even more than matches the functionality of the device (as well as the level of its performance and design elements ).

Some users praise the phone for its performance, express a positive attitude to the fact that it comes with a large amount of flash memory preinstalled with unlimited support. additional modules... The fact that there is relatively little RAM is not recognized as a disadvantage by the majority of owners.

They praise the phone for the stability of voice communication and Internet connections, regardless of the access technology used. Users, as well as many experts, single out a rather long battery life without recharging as a positive feature of a smartphone.

Many owners of the device note the convenience of using it, the ergonomics of the case, and the ease of control of the device. A large number of users praise the Xperia T2 smartphone for its successful design and pleasant-looking body color scheme, good color rendering on the display.

It is quite acceptable to assume that the opinions of device users and experts, in general, coincide. Both of them predominantly praise the smartphone. There are, of course, the experts who have made the characterization of the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual review and identified the shortcomings. But even if someone from the users or specialists who tested the device finds a certain minus and voices his point of view publicly, there will always be someone who can provide compelling counterarguments.

An inexpensive Sony phablet can now be found for almost 12,000 rubles. Compared to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, there is no water and glass protection here, but it has dual SIM support and a better camera.

Design, construction

I really liked and like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, an extremely interesting phablet is interesting even now - the price has become lower, but unique features did not go anywhere. It's great design and display, LTE support, slim body, yes, in the end, the thing is just nice to pick up. The Z Ultra, like the T2 Ultra, are travel devices. Fits in the smallest bag, you can conveniently watch TV shows, a movie or just read. Better than reading or watching something on the iPhone screen anyway.

We each have our own cockroaches in our heads, and for some time now I stopped liking to take a backpack with me on the flight, I try to place all my things in a suitcase and take nothing with me to the cockpit, or nothing at all, or just a small bag. And my little bag doesn't even fit iPad Air- mini will fit, but I don't want to buy another iPad at all. And this is where the T2 Ultra comes to the rescue, if you wish, you can simply put it in your pocket and go light. You can put a SIM card with the main number inside and add a second one for use in roaming. You can put a 64 GB memory card here and fill it all with content - or you can turn down the brightness and read books. I say all this to the fact that the phablet is a very versatile device, and you can think of a lot of use cases.

But let's get down to business. The dimensions of the device are 165.2 x 93.8 x 7.65 mm, the weight is 171.8 grams, as I said, you can carry it in your pocket, although when I sit down I feel a slight hindrance. But you can get used to it. The smartphone comes in three colors: white, black and purple. Plastic housing, recognizable design from first Sony Xperia Z smartphones have their own face, which is great.

Silver inserts at the ends, a familiar button on the right, stripes - volume buttons and a camera. Above the display is a front camera, light and proximity sensors, the earpiece is covered with a metal strip with perforation. The same strip is at the bottom and on the back of the case. The 3.5 mm input is on the right, it is normal, it does not support advanced accessories. On the back there is a camera lens, flash, microphone, NFC area. I have been using the device for a long time, scratches appear on the smooth plastic, they are noticeable only if you look at it from an angle.

Under the flap on the right, there are two slots for SIM cards, ordinary cards, microSIM. On the left - a slot for a microSD card, cards of any capacity are supported. Since this is not a flagship device, there is no magnetic connector like the usual Ultra. I think the company will show Sony Xperia Z Ultra 2 in Las Vegas or even earlier, it would be logical - the camera will surely be improved, a new five-pin connector will be added, weight will be reduced, and metal will be added. I'm really looking forward to the next phablet, literally looking forward.

Yes, pay attention, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual has no moisture protection, the microUSB connector is without a cap. There is no groove for fastening a strap, which is usual for older devices. The indicator light is small, it lights up red when charging. For the convenience of one-handed operation, an option has been added quick call notifications, you need to double-tap the Home icon.

Keep in mind, the story with SIM-cards is the following - the device supports LTE only on one SIM-card.

  • SIM 1: UMTS HSPA + 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz, GSM GPRS / EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
  • SIM 2: GSM GPRS / EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz

The new Sony smartphones LTE support is available for two SIM cards at once, for example, the Sony Xperia Z3.

Display

Is there a big difference between a five-inch display and a six-inch display? In my opinion, it is very large. Look at Htc one and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. Which screen do you think is best for watching movies? Naturally, the advantage is for T2. Display diagonal - 6 inches, the screen is made on TFT technology, there is, of course, a difference with IPS. The resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), the Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technology is supported - you can see it working when you watch a video. You can see it, but I didn't succeed. The screen has good viewing angles, but the white here slightly turns yellow, this is noticeable when browsing sites. As it seems to me, the brightness is a little lacking, I want to add, but no more.

Performance

A quad-core Qualcomm MSM8228 processor is used, a clock speed of 1.4 GHz, Adreno 305 is responsible for the video, in AnTuTu the device shows this.

One gigabyte random access memory- I don’t know if this is enough for a device with such a display. Or Sony wanted to make the device as cheap as possible. Affordable phablet, not a bad idea. Let's see if there is a sequel - this is always an indicator of whether the progenitor was successful. Installed 8 GB of memory for data storage, can be expanded using a microSD card. Operating system Android 4.3 (initially) with a number of branded additives, these are their own icons, a player, some programs. For example, Sony Select - best apps for Xperia, in XperiaLounge you can find various promotions and discounts for Xperia owners, Office Suite - a package for working with documents, Evernote is preinstalled, there is a radio, TrackID is still there, a program for identifying musical compositions.

Here it is necessary to give an almost traditional conclusion, the device works quickly, with brakes at startup installed programs I have not encountered.

Here's one example of what's added here from Sony, let's take a player. This is Sony Surround Sound Technology, supported by AptX, so with headsets that support the technology, the sound will be gorgeous, ClearAudio +, Clear Bass, Clear Phaze, Clear Stereo technologies to improve the sound. There is a dynamic normalizer (equalizes the volume) and SensMe channels. It seems to be trifles, but there are a lot of such trifles - naturally, all this affects the use of the device for the better, listening to music on the Xperia T2 is pleasant.

A little more about Bluetooth, profile 4.0, Ant + profile is supported for working with sports gadgets, Wi-Fi - IEEE 802.11a / b / g / n, there is DLNA support.

An important addition, not so long ago there was an update for the smartphone, now using Android 4.4.2, it seems to me that the device has become even faster.

Camera

The main difference from the usual Z is the use of a 13 MP camera, there is a flash. The shots are better, there is a separate shooting button, various effects, including augmented reality. In my opinion, everything is fine with the camera, you can easily use it every day - but if you look closely at the pictures on your computer, you can conclude that the iPhone 5S shoots better. The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra lacks detail and the colors look odd. But, again, this is in any case better than the regular Ultra, if you were looking for a Sony phablet with a normal camera, then there is only one option so far.

HD video recording, good quality, but nothing more.

Nutrition

The claimed battery life is about 16 hours of talk time, 89 hours of listening to music (!), 11 hours of watching videos. Battery capacity - 3000 mAh, the device works like any other device on Android base, - it all depends on what you do with it. In flight, the T2 Ultra calmly withstood several episodes of the series and still remained "on the bottom".

conclusions

In retail, this device can now be found for 11,000 rubles, an excellent price for a Sony device with a large screen, proprietary add-ons to the interface, two SIM-cards, good design and display. Moreover, you can find this gadget for less money, well, but I'm generally silent about the secondary market, for the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra dual in perfect condition they ask from eight thousand rubles (looking at Avito). You can talk about success for a long time, but in this case everything is decided by the price - and everything is in order with the price. Yes, the materials here are not as good as those of the regular Ultra, but does the white plastic look good too? And even scratches are not particularly noticeable. The screen is not IPS, but you can watch the film without frowning, the quality is quite normal. The operating speed is acceptable, the speakers are loud, it is quite convenient to talk - everything is in order with the earpiece. The device is niche - after all, it will not fit into every pocket - but it will surely find its consumer.

Well, I'll wait for Sony Xperia Ultra 2. It's very interesting what the company will come up with for the new phablet.

Sony loves to present its smartphones out of the blue. What a surprise for everyone Xperia Z Ultra - "the longest smartphone in 2013", so is the Xperia T2 Ultra. The gadget that no one was expecting turned out to be quite interesting. This isn't just an update to the series - it's an expansion: the first Ultra is still on sale. It is noteworthy that in terms of basic characteristics it surpasses the "Ti-two" - the new product has a lower screen resolution and a weaker processor.

Xperia T2, as conceived by the creators, is intended for those who would like to purchase Ultra, but are not ready to spend the officially announced 25 thousand rubles on it. The junior device has a more humane price - Xperia T2 can be bought somewhere for 17 and a half thousand. And this is only at the start of sales! All the piquancy of this venture is spoiled by the fact that the original Ultra entered the market almost a year ago and has already managed to sink in unofficial online stores up to those seventeen thousand rubles. Of course, purchasing products in them, the buyer is deprived of the official Sony service, but in Russia this does not stop everyone. Therefore, the Xperia T2 Ultra should be in good shape and not far behind its older brother.

⇡ Appearance and ergonomics

The exterior of the device is made in the corporate style of Sony designers. There are no obvious savings in materials or assembly that are periodically observed in mid-range devices, which is good. Look'n'feel, as they say, is very pleasant - in the best traditions of Sony.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual

Six-inch smartphones are by definition large and almost impossible to use with one hand. Nevertheless, the engineers of the Japanese company did everything possible to make the dimensions of the device a minimum of inconvenience. T2 Ultra weighs a little by the standards of "under-tablets" - 172 grams versus 212 grams for the older "Ultra". The thickness of the case of the novelty is also small - 7.7 mm. However, the older sister is even slimmer - only 6.5 mm. To simplify the work with "Ti-tu" with one hand, a shift is provided virtual keys to the left or right of the screen.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual with screen on

The main area on the front panel is occupied by a large six-inch display. The frames around it are very thin, but there is no unwanted reaction due to accidentally touching the screen with the palm of your hand - obviously, such touches are filtered. There are no hardware keys on the front panel - the control buttons, as usual for Sony, are touch-sensitive. Above the screen is the lens of the front one-megapixel camera, sensitive areas of the sensors and the earpiece.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual - bezel

The back panel of the device is made of glossy and, to our surprise, non-slip plastic in our hands. The surface is quite easily soiled - it actively collects fingerprints and fine dirt. Fortunately, on a white surface, all this is not very noticeable, and it is easy to clean.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual - back panel

On the bottom of the panel there is a slot for the external speaker, and on the top - the lens of the main 13-megapixel camera with LED flash. By the way, the Z Ultra camera lacks a flash. The design of the smartphone is not separable, you cannot remove the back and get to the battery.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual - external speaker

All side edges of the case are traditionally decorated with a mirror edging. The location of the controls is very convenient, with one exception: the power key is located approximately in the middle of the right side. To the taste of the author of this material, it should be moved a little higher so that you do not have to reach it with your thumb.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual - power, volume and camera buttons

Next to the lock key is a dual volume rocker, and a little further away is a physical camera button. All keys have a short and polished stroke.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual - SIM slots

The micro-USB interface, standard audio jack and slots for SIM and microSD cards are located on the sides of the gadget and are hidden under caps. The Xperia T2 Ultra Dual version uses two micro SIM cards.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual - microUSB connector

Traditionally for Sony, the device is offered in three colors - white, black and purple. Probably because of the brand of the rear panel, the T2 Ultra looks better in white. The Xperia T2 Ultra case, unlike the older model, is not resistant to dust and moisture - the plugs above the connectors are purely decorative in this case.
