According to their technical specifications Ulefone Power 2 is a typical midrange for 2017. 4 GB of RAM is enough for smooth operation the operating system and any applications in multitasking mode. 64 GB of internal storage will allow many users to do without an additional microSD card.

If the manufacturer did not skimp on more powerful processor, that would be great. After all, the MT6750T, presented by MediaTek over a year ago, has already become a budget solution. However, he copes with his main duties.

Equipment

The smartphone comes in a flat cardboard box, decorated in black and red colors. The designers did a good job on the packaging. It looks strict, stylish and neat. In such a frame it is not a shame to give a smartphone, and it is also pleasant to take it in your hands.

Ulefone tries to provide all its products with additional accessories. Power 2 was no exception. In addition to the smartphone, cable and charger, the set includes a stylish case, safety glass for the screen and OTG cable. The case simulates leather, and in it the device looks completely different.

In addition, there is a multifunctional metal ring that attaches to the back of the smartphone and serves as an additional mount when used with one hand. It can also become a support on which the smartphone will stand on the table.

When buying Ulefone Power 2, the user immediately receives everything necessary for a comfortable and safe use of the smartphone.

Appearance and assembly

Ulefone Power 2 has a large battery, which is reflected in the appearance. Taking a smartphone in hand, you will immediately feel that 210 grams is serious. The thickness is almost one centimeter, which is compared to others modern smartphones looks at least defiant.

But over time, you stop paying attention to the weight and size, and the weighty solidity of the smartphone even begins to like it. In this case, this is not a drawback, but simply a feature of the device, which is due to the presence of a powerful battery.

Ulefone Power 2 is available in three colors - black, silver and gold. The body of the device is made of a light metal alloy, resistant to shock and scratches. The main controls (power button and volume switch) are located on right side under the thumb. The travel of the buttons is firm and clear, making accidental presses almost impossible.

At the bottom of the smartphone there is a microUSB socket, a microphone hole and a speaker. The fingerprint reader is integrated into the multifunction button on the front panel. It can be used not only to unlock, but also to perform some other actions.

There are no comments on the assembly - everything is fine. Ulefone Power 2 looks discreet and stylish, as befits a serious smartphone.

The fingerprint scanner

The front button is an important building block of a smartphone. The developers not only built a fingerprint scanner into it, but also endowed it with navigation functions. One short touch is equivalent to the back button, a long touch brings up the list open programs, and pressing it takes you to the desktop. If you press the button and hold it, the Google search application will launch.

You can permanently hide the on-screen buttons and use the front mechanical button instead. This will slightly increase the usable screen area, and just more convenient.

As for the fingerprint scanner, it works great. Nearly 100% firing at any angle at 0.15 seconds.

Screen and sound

The Ulefone Power 2 display has bezels that are quite thick by modern standards - about 4 millimeters. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with this, because I think bezelless smartphones a strange whim of a fashion that will soon pass.

Ulefone Power 2 has a high-quality IPS-matrix with good viewing angles and color reproduction. The stock of brightness is enough for comfortable use even outdoors, only if you are not standing in direct sunlight. The oleophobic coating of the screen provides excellent glide and repels dirt and grease from the surface.

I would like to say a special thank you for the adequate brightness levels. Many Chinese manufacturers like to overestimate this parameter, which makes smartphones impossible to use at night. In Ulefone Power 2, the minimum brightness value allows you to read comfortably even in complete darkness. Additionally, there is an Eye Protection option in the settings, which reduces the blue spectrum of the display.

The sound of the smartphone is of high quality, without obvious distortion, even at extreme levels. The volume level is sufficient for dubbing system notifications and incoming calls. But the vibration is very weak - you should not rely on it. I liked the playback quality in the headphones. Loud and without obvious dips.

Performance

Although the MT6750T processor cannot be classified as a top solution in any way, there are no performance problems. All applications, not to mention operating system run smoothly and quickly. I can't even imagine a use case in which Ulefone Power 2 could suddenly slow down. A large amount of RAM allows you to run several resource-intensive applications at once and instantly switch between them.

A few years ago, a very unusual appeared on the Internet software package called CyberLink Power2Go. What this program is, many users do not know. However, its capabilities can be judged at least by the name of the developer, who became famous for innovations in the field of working with multimedia. But the possibilities this package much wider and go far beyond this framework.

CyberLink Power2Go: what is this program?

So what exactly is a package? Judging by the official description, the main purpose of the application package is to work with any type of disc media with declared support from regular CDs to protected media of the Blu-ray standard.

But this is only one direction for performing the operations provided in the CyberLink Power2Go package. What kind of program it is and what its capabilities are, you can find out if you look at the list of applications included in the main package. You can find quite interesting things in it. For example, there is Wave Editor - a full-featured audio editor, a built-in converter of audio and video formats, an application for creating all kinds of slideshows, a video editor, etc. The most interesting thing is a special creation option backup systems with burning the appropriate optical media.

CyberLink Power2Go 8: what is this program?

As for the designation CyberLink Power2Go 8, by and large it is the same package, only version 8.0.0.XXXXb. As you can see from the designation, this is a modification in beta testing.

The name speaks for itself: the application can be quite unstable in operation, however, like all beta versions. So it is worth installing it only for testers and developers, but not for ordinary users.

Key features of the package

This is a first look at the CyberLink Power2Go suite. What kind of program it is is already clear. Let's move on to the main functions and modules.

First of all, it is worth highlighting the possibility of creating discs of a certain direction (audio or video), as well as mixed discs with data. To do this, the program has several modules to choose from, according to the type of the way Nero offers it.

When recording as additional tool for data protection, a system with a key length of 128 or 256 bits can be used. If desired, you can set a password that will be requested for playback.

When working with video, you can use the extraction of audio tracks from video files, then convert them to another format and even make equalization in volume between all tracks (normalization function). It is just as easy to create menus for DVDs, use label printing, insert DVD chapters, trim clips, and automatic mode split files across multiple disks if their size exceeds the capacity of the media.

Should I install the program and how can I uninstall it?

If you need CyberLink Power2Go on your computer, it's easy to install. Just before installation, it is advisable to temporarily disable the antivirus and Internet access. In some cases, you may also need to deactivate Windows Firewall and Windows Defender.

Many users complain that during installation the program creates several shortcuts on the "Desktop", and also integrates into the startup menu. Actually, this is not a problem, since the shortcuts can be deleted, and autostart can be disabled in the system configuration (the msconfig command in the Run menu or the startup tab in the Task Manager for Windows 10).

Removing a package is not so simple. At least in the standard section of programs and components, you will have to delete all components of the package one by one, then look for residual files and records in system registry... Therefore, it is best to use powerful utilities like iObit Uninstaller or Revo Unistaller, which will produce complete cleaning without user intervention.

Outcome

In general, the package looks, though "heaped up", but somehow too heavy. And the multitude additional functions most users will remain unclaimed. So install this software worth it only if you really need it. In the very simple case for recording, it is better to use the same Nero Express (it is not so resource-intensive and easier to use).

If the additional processor cores, gigabytes of memory and megapixels of the camera are no longer surprising, then the increase in battery capacity can still delight smartphone users.

For those who are tired of looking for a charger and outlet every night, Ulefone has released a second iteration. Smartphone Power, which retained the impressive 6050 mAh battery of its predecessor and received an updated filling. As a result, we are promised 4 days of active use without recharging.

Is it true? And how convenient is it to use a device that is almost a centimeter thick?

The text can and probably does contain grammatical, spelling, punctuation and other types of errors, including semantic errors. I ask readers in every possible way to point out these errors and correct me through private messages.

Equipment

They are greeted by clothes ... and delivery set. And here Ulefone Power 2 is doing very well. The manufacturer boasts that the cost of complete accessories is as high as $ 40. Among them there was everything that you can imagine, except for a headset:
  • microUSB-USB cable;
  • power supply unit (with support for MediaTek PE);
  • a clip for removing a SIM card;
  • OTG cable;
  • case with leather insert;
  • safety glass;
  • metal stand with a ring.

A very solid set. The glass can be glued when the pre-glued film on the display is noticeably worn out. The OTG cable allows not only connecting flash drives, keyboards and mice, but also other smartphones and players for recharging. That is, Ulefone Power 2 can act as a full-fledged Power Bank.

Wearing a cover, or not wearing it, is a good question. There is no particular desire to hang something on top of an already rather thick smartphone, but on trips or during outdoor activities, protection will not be superfluous.

Design and ergonomics

The fact that Ulefone Power 2 is in front of us will be said only by the inscription on the back metal cover. On the front, the smartphone reveals Meizu MX5, Moto G5 Plus, Huawei P10, Elephone S7 and a bunch of Chinese.

But I'm sure you don't care so much appearance smartphone, how much is its dimensions. Carrying 210 grams of metal and glass in your pocket is not at all difficult, but not in the summer. The smartphone pulls the pocket of shorts or pants a lot and this causes some discomfort.

Using a smartphone with one hand is also very difficult, the large thickness complicates the grip and does not allow fingers to reach all the edges of the display. Of course, after a week or two you get used to these features, but at first you have to suffer a little.

There are no complaints about the buttons on the right side - they are easy to find blindly, I have not seen any accidental operation. But the large and single button under the screen is far from perfect. It is touch-sensitive, a short press imitates the "Back" button, a long press calls up the menu running applications... The built-in fingerprint scanner works in about 70% of cases, which is not bad for a Chinese, but painfully far away even for the iPhone 5S. The reading time is about one and a half seconds.

On the bottom of the Ulefone Power 2 there is a charging port and a multimedia speaker. To the latter's credit, it is very loud and not very muffled even if you deliberately cover it with your fingers.

There is no need to talk about high-quality music reproduction.

Screen

The smartphone display is absolutely standard for any Chinese. 5.5-inch matrix with FullHD resolution and color reproduction slightly littered with cold shades.

The margin of brightness is such that it is quite possible to use the display instead of a flashlight in the forest. The truth is not very good when the automatic adjustment is wrong, and this spotlight starts to burn your eyes. The sensor polling rate is quite high and reacts to changes in ambient light quickly, although not always correctly.

For lovers of night reading, the smartphone has an Eye Protection function that softens the shades of blue and white.

Cameras

Ulefone Power 2 received a couple of cameras, both with software interpolation. The front one shoots at a resolution of 8 megapixels, but can artificially scale the picture up to 13 megapixels. The main one "pumps" 13 megapixel photos up to 16 megapixels.

Was it good for you? Not a drop - both modules are mediocre. The front camera is operational only during daylight hours. The main one starts up quickly, but focuses for a long time (about 2 seconds). Noise is noticeable in the photo with a small zoom, even when shooting during the day. The exposure is not always correct, objects are often very dark. Examples of snapshots below:

Full-size images can be downloaded from.
The Camera application itself does not stand out in any way. The interface is very simple, only basic functions are present. The camera shutter button seems to have been copied from the iPhone.

Screenshots from the application

There is no data on camera sensors and their characteristics, but, according to a subjective assessment, the quality of shooting is approximately on a par with colleagues in the price category - Note devices from Xiaomi and Meizu.

Iron

Ulefone Power 2 received a very solid amount of memory for its price category. RAM on board 4 GB, and permanent memory - 64 GB expandable. And that's all for $ 160. Not bad at all.
But the processor here is simpler than that of competitors. The smartphone is powered by an eight-core MediaTek MT6750T with Cortex A-53 architecture cores. The energy-saving cluster received a frequency of 1 GHz, and the pseudo-performance cluster - 1.5 GHz. It is quite logical that with such a frequency potential and architecture, the smartphone does not show impressive results in benchmarks.

Test results

The most attentive readers, I am sure, have noticed that some applications do not normally recognize the chip and assign a zero frequency to it. Moving away from virtual parrots, things are much better in real life. The smartphone launches all applications quickly, rendering animations is smooth, switching between tasks - without delays. The performance drawdowns, as well as the slight heating of the case, are a little noticeable only in resource-intensive games with 3D graphics.

The smartphone finds satellites slower than devices based on Qualcomm chips; a cold start can take up to 15 seconds. Of the controversial points about the Ulefone Power 2 hardware, only the absence of NFC and a not very loud earpiece.

Software

From the factory, Ulefone Power 2 comes with Android firmware 7. After the first startup, another cumulative update came. Fortunately, there is no proprietary shell, only scary icons that can be "killed" by installing a third-party launcher like Nova, and a bunch of software buns in the settings menu.

Screenshots

The latter include gesture control by a proximity sensor. Waving your hands over your smartphone, you can flip through photos in the gallery, and if you bring the phone to your ear during an incoming call, it will automatically answer the call.

Screenshots

Overall impressions of the Ulefone Power 2 firmware remained positive. Experience practically pure android latest version with useful software improvements. As for localization, only a few items from the settings menu are not translated into Russian.

Screenshots

There are no custom firmwares for the smartphone, as well as a serious need for them.

Autonomy

The most important element that the manufacturer boasts is a 6050 mAh battery, which should provide 4 days autonomous work... This is not entirely true, in order to achieve such indicators, you will have to turn on the energy-saving mode, limit yourself to using the Internet, especially mobile, and not exceed the bar: "2 hours of active display per day."

Screenshots

If you turn off the inner skeptic, then the autonomy of the Ulefone Power 2 really deserves praise. The smartphone can provide 2 days of confident work with 8-9 hours of active display at above average brightness.
- To see the four parts of "Alien" on the train? - No problem.
- Go on a binge on the weekend and not take exercise with you? - You can too.
- Charge a couple of friends dying for dinner? - Give your apples here!
Thanks to the support of MediaTek PE technology, Ulefone Power 2 itself charges in less than 2 hours.

conclusions

Ulefone Power 2 is a good and balanced Chinese for those who are not afraid to carry heavy things in their pockets. It does not allow you to forget about the need for regular charging, but reminds you of this less often than most smartphones. A rich bundle, a large amount of memory and built-in battery, and a price tag of $ 160 are weighty arguments in favor of this fat metal man.

In terms of other parameters, it is at the level of competitors, and the smartphone has no critical shortcomings. It is unlikely that someone will remember about it in a couple of years, but at the moment it is a rather profitable offer in its price category.

What we liked:

  • generous scope of delivery;
  • brightness margin;
  • loud multimedia speaker;
  • the amount of built-in memory and RAM;
  • pure Android 7 with useful add-ons;
  • the speed of applications and switching between them
  • autonomy;
  • the ability to charge other gadgets and OTG support.

What did not like:

  • you need to get used to the dimensions and weight of the smartphone;
  • auto brightness control is sometimes naughty;
  • work of cameras;
  • performance in games is lower than that of competitors;
  • quiet conversational speaker;
  • no NFC chip.

The Ulefone Power 2 smartphone was announced back in February, but the new product will reach the buyer only not earlier than April. The main feature of this device is powerful battery with a capacity of as much as 6050 mAh.

The Chinese company Gotron, which owns the Ulefone brand, has clearly addressed the new Power 2 to those who value autonomy in electronics first of all. This year, fast charging support has been added to the excellent battery developed by Sony itself.

Ulefone Power 2 differs from most other "long-playing" smartphones by far from the weakest hardware "stuffing". So, the gadget has as many as 4 Gb of RAM and a built-in 64 Gb drive. That is, quite "in an adult way."

As for the mobile processor used in the Power 2, there is no exact data yet. Released a year ago, its predecessor is based on the MediaTek MT6753 chipset. Now it would be relevant to deliver (there is support for fast charging and 4 Gb of RAM).

It is important to note that Ulefone Power 2 has removable battery... And this means that you can buy a spare battery for it and not carry around a much more bulky Power Bank all the time.

The Power 2 is expected to have a decent camera. Anyway, not worse than last year's Ulefone Power, which used a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor. "Frontalka", most likely, will be "for show".

Ulefone Power 2 is distinguished from other smartphones with a large-capacity battery by a large 5.5-inch screen with a FullHD resolution of 1080 × 1920 pixels. Most other manufacturers put simpler HD Ready (720 × 1280) matrices in devices of this class.

Initially, the new Ulefone will be available for ordering only in black, but in the future, gold and gray options should appear. Back cover the device is made of metal.

Power 2 Essential Questions Answered

  • When is Ulefone Power 2 coming out? - Sales will begin in April, and already at the end of March, applications for pre-ordering new items should start.
  • Will this smartphone be officially sold in Russia? - It is unlikely, but everything can change. In any case, it will be presented in domestic online stores, including such large ones as Fotosklad.ru or Mobilfunk.

Other points

Ulefone will release a special Power 2 for the US this year. It will be sold, as usual in the American market, through mobile operators.

For this reason, this modification of the smartphone should lose support for two SIM-cards and in some cases may be tied to the "native" operator. It is not recommended to purchase for use on the territory of Russia and the CIS countries.

Program for burning files on optical drives from the renowned developer CyberLink. Allows you to create multimedia discs for stationary players.

What you need to know about Power2Go

It is a powerful recorder, "sharpened" for the creation of drives with multimedia content. The application allows you to transfer information to a disc in Audio CD, Video DVD / CD formats, therefore it is often used to prepare media for stationary media centers. The program contains all the necessary functions for working with disk images (creating and extracting files from containers), includes the ability to “grab” audio tracks, burn ordinary “blanks” with a standard object layout scheme, and copy files according to disc-to- HDD and disc-to-disc (requires at least two drives). Blu-ray format is supported. The "highlight" of the utility is the ability to create containers with data for emergency recovery of the operating system.

The functionality of Power 2 Go is available free of charge for 15 days, after which you will need to purchase a license, the cost of which is $ 69.95. Developers often offer discounts on their product, so there is a chance of a price cut full version up to 40%.

Briefly and clearly:

  • recording of optical media;
  • lossless data copying;
  • generation of multimedia optical drives;
  • making backups of the system;
  • mounting virtual drives.
