File management using a computer

To transfer and manage files, connect your device to a Windows ® computer using a USB cable.

After connecting the devices, select the desired action: charge, transfer files, or use the device as a MIDI input. After selecting the connection mode File Transfer (MTP) the device will be detected by the computer. The default is Charge Only.

The Xperia ™ Companion app allows you to access file system devices. If this application is not already installed, you will be prompted to connect your device to your computer.

USB connection modes

1. Connect the USB adapter to the device.
2. Slide the status bar down to open the notification panel.
3. The notification indicates the current connection mode: Charge your device via USB or USB for file transfer.
4. Tap the notification, then tap desired mode connections.
