Screen type: IPS (In Plane Switching) is a high-quality liquid crystal matrix, which was created to eliminate the main disadvantages of matrices based on TN technology. The IPS-matrix in the entire spectrum most adequately reproduces colors at different viewing angles, with the exception of some positions and colors. TN-matrix has, as it were, a better response than IPS, but not always. For example, the IPS-matrix behaves better in transitions from gray to gray. This matrix is still resistant to pressure. Touching a TN or VA matrix results in "excitement" or a certain reaction on the screen. The IPS-matrix has no such effect. In addition, ophthalmologists confirm that the IPS-matrix is the most comfortable for the eyes. In this way, the IPS-matrix brings a bright and clear picture regardless of viewing angles, better for working on the Internet, watching movies. But the most important thing is for image processing and photo viewing. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) - Liquid crystal displays. The very first displays used in mobile devices, and not only in telephones. Their main feature is that they have very low power consumption due to the impossibility of displaying a color image. They do not emit light and therefore phones are upgraded with backlight lamps. Some phones had several different backlight colors based on the presence of different LEDs around the display's perimeter. This extraordinary solution was used, for example, in the Ericsson A3618 phone. Pixels are clearly visible on this type of display, and such displays cannot boast of a high resolution. In order to extend the life of such displays, they made them inverted, i.e. text and symbols were displayed not as filled pixels, but, on the contrary, inactive against the background of filled ones. This produces light text on a dark background. Currently, this type of display is used in the cheapest budget models (Nokia 1112) and as an external one in some clamshell phones (Samsung D830).

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) - Liquid crystal displays based on active matrix thin film transistors. There are three transistors for each pixel, corresponding to three colors (RGB - red, green, blue). On this moment, these are the most common displays and have several advantages over other displays. They are distinguished by the shortest response time and the rapid development - an ever-increasing resolution and number of colors. These displays are most common in mid-range phones and above. Working resolutions for them: 128x160, 132x176, 176x208, 176x220, 240x320 and others, less common. Examples: Nokia N73 (240x320, 262 thousand colors), Sony ericsson K750i (176x220, 262k colors), Samsung D900 (240x320, 262k colors). TFTs are rarely used as external displays for clamshells.

CSTN (Color Super Twisted Nematic) - Color passive matrix liquid crystal displays. Each pixel of such a display consists of three combined pixels, which correspond to three colors (RGB). Some time ago, almost all phones with color displays were based on exactly this type. And now the lot of such displays is budget models. The main disadvantage of such displays is their slowness. The undoubted advantage of such displays is their cost, which is much lower than TFT. Based on simple logic, it can be assumed that in the future TFT will oust from the market mobile devices this type of displays. The color evolution of such displays is quite extensive: from 16 to 65536 colors. Examples: Motorola V177 (128x160, 65 thousand colors), Sony Ericsson J100i (96x64, 65 thousand colors), Nokia 2310 (96x68, 65 thousand colors).

UFB (Ultra Fine and Bright) - Liquid crystal displays with increased brightness and contrast on a passive matrix. We can say that this is an intermediate option between CSTN and TFT. This type of display boasts lower power consumption compared to TFT. For the most part, such displays were used by Samsung in mid-range phones. This type of display is not widely used. Examples: Samsung C100 / 110 (128x128, 65 thousand colors).

TN is a type of TFT display matrix. Roughly speaking, TN is the simplest and cheapest TFT matrix. The viewing angles are the narrowest.

Telephones Samsung are in high demand among domestic buyers. New models enter the market every year. They fit all modern requirements... Young people are happy to purchase these devices and enjoy innovative developments. However, there is also a category of users who prefers gadgets, so to speak, "simpler", so it is not surprising that Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus GT-S7500, which went on sale back in 2012, is still used by many.

It is worth noting that not every person is ready to switch to huge smartphones, even taking into account their wide functionality. It is for this category that this model... Does it have any other advantages besides compact dimensions? Let's figure it out.

Design

Externally, Ace Plus S7500 is not much different from similar gadgets. The rounded edges harmoniously fit into the general idea of the designers. Thanks to the chrome frame located on the front panel, the device looks quite impressive. The glossy surface of the back cover somewhat confused buyers, since the company has already presented models made of matte plastic. This option is practical, it does not accumulate fingerprints and does not leave traces. mechanical damage... But with gloss you have to be extremely careful, if possible, use a cover to protect the case from scratches.

If we talk about the assembly, then there are no comments here. The back cover does not bend, nothing plays or creaks.

From customer reviews it follows that the dimensions of this device are an indisputable advantage. They are 114.5 x 62.5 x 11.2 mm. When compared with previous models, the thickness indicator has slightly decreased, and the height has increased. The streamlined shape of the case allows you to operate the phone with one hand without feeling any discomfort. The weight of the device is only 114 g. There is no fatigue during long conversations. If you use your smartphone without a case, you need to be very careful, as the glossy surface of the back cover is rather slippery.

The front panel is designed as standard. Above the touchscreen is an automatic proximity sensor and a speaker. Users respond positively to the latter. The volume is good, the interlocutor's speech sounds intelligible.

Under the screen there is a control panel with one mechanical button, displayed in the center, and two touch buttons. There is a backlight that makes it easier to use the phone. It is not bright enough, the shade is white.

At the top there is a standard headphone jack, on the opposite side there is a microphone and USB port... On the side faces there are keys for volume control (left) and device lock (right).

The back of the smartphone has a stereo speaker, a photo flash and a camera lens. The latter protrudes slightly beyond the general line of the body, which can lead to surface damage protective glass optics.

Screen

Reviewing smartphone Ace Plus S7500, the characteristics of the screen cannot be ignored. This element is an important criterion for many buyers. The model uses a 3.65-inch display. It is framed by a black frame. It is thin on the sides, expanding only in the upper and lower parts. The resolution with which the picture is displayed on the screen is critically low. It remains the same as its predecessor: 480 × 320 mm. Pixelation is quite noticeable even with the naked eye, since the display resolution is only 158 ppi.

The screen uses a TFT-LCD matrix. It is worth noting that it is flawed. The viewing angles are not as wide as we would like. When the unit is tilted, the contrast is significantly reduced. The brightness level can only be adjusted manually, there is no automatic option in the gadget. On the street in sunny weather, it will be somewhat difficult to view the information, since the screen glares.

The device has a multi-touch function, thanks to which the touch layer is able to recognize up to five touches made simultaneously.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus GT-S7500: camera specifications

The smartphone from the Korean manufacturer is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera. There is autofocus and one-section flash, which significantly improve the quality of photos. According to most users, optics deserves only praise. Maximum size picture - 2560 × 1920 px. The image is detailed, there is no blur in the corners, there is practically no noise. Even in poor lighting conditions, the quality deserves respect.

You can record movies with this camera. In this mode, the maximum available resolution is 640 × 480 px. Recording speed is limited to 30 frames. It is possible to activate a 3x zoom. To do this, use the volume rocker.

There is no standalone key, the camera is turned on via the menu. There are three flash modes, effects and other options in the settings.

Hardware

Technical Ace Plus S7500, even at the time of release, were considered weak. The smartphone is based on the Qualcomm MSM7227a processor. It is based on one ARM Cortex-A5 computing module. Under heavy load, the clock speed rises to 1000 MHz. Paired with the main chipset, the Adreno 200 graphics accelerator is installed.

Although such a "filling" is not considered quite powerful, it allows the gadget to work without freezing. Most owners have noticed that the phone functions stably and copes with all daily tasks.

The RAM in this model is only 512 MB. Only about 200 MB will be available to the user. The integrated memory storage is 3 GB. You can expand it up to 32 GB by external storage... The device works with microSD memory cards.

Autonomy

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 is equipped with removable battery... The chemical composition of the battery is lithium-ion. Model - EB494358VU. The capacity is 1300 milliamps per hour. In standby mode, the gadget will work for about 660 hours. If the battery is 100% charged, the battery will last for about 7 hours of talk time. On average, the user can count on 1-2 days of work with a low load.

It will take about 1.5 hours to charge the phone with the original charger... You can also use another method - USB. You will have to spend 2.5 hours on it.

Operating system

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 is based on Android 2.3.6. The original firmware version is used - S7500XXKL1. Not without the TouchWIZ shell.

The blocking is removed by pressing the on / off key. After that, a picture with a closed lock appears on the screen. In order for it to open, you need to slide your finger from the center to the side.

The numeric keypad is large, it is quite convenient to dial a number. The menu has it all standard applications... On the desktop, the shortcuts are arranged in a 4 × 4 tile. The manufacturer provides hot keys.

Communications

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 is capable of working with second and third generation networks. There is a Wi-Fi module. The phone works as an access point. There are two ways to transfer files - via Bluetooth and USB. The transfer speed is excellent. All options work flawlessly.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus GT-S7500: reviews

User opinions were divided. The reason for this was the weak technical characteristics. Considering that the device at the start of sales was sold for about 10,000 rubles, everyone expected much more from it. This phone is only suitable for the undemanding user. It copes well with everyday tasks, but resource-intensive applications will not run on it.

An improved version of the previous model. However, the improvements affected only the processor and memory, the diagonal of the display increased slightly, but its resolution, camera and much more remained the same. Actually, I repeated the fate Galaxy line S last year. I won't be surprised if we see Ace Plus 2 in a month or two :)

Not everything is clear with the price either. For example, the suggested retail price for the Samsung Y Pro Duos was RUB 9,990. Less than a couple of weeks later, the cost dropped to 8,000 rubles. I think that the situation will be the same: now the device will go on sale at the RRTs 11,990 rubles, and after a short period of time it will drop in price by two thousand.

Design, dimensions, controls

In mid-January I was at the Samsung office and had the opportunity to get acquainted with a test sample. At that time, its design did not bother me at all, since it could be a prototype. Some time later, a commercial sample fell into my hands, and I was quite surprised. It is clear that appearance It should hardly have been very different from the “first” Ace, but using glossy black plastic on the rear panel, in my opinion, is too primitive. And this despite the fact that the Samsung S5830 back cover made of matte plastic with a textured surface, while the new Wave M / Y and Galaxy Wonder are made of similar materials. In short, design is a thing of the past: the battle between iPhone 3GS and Galaxy S.

The back side collects fingerprints, and minor scratches and abrasions remain on it. The assembly is excellent: nothing crunches, no backlash, the back cover does not squeeze.

The phone fits well in the hand thanks to its streamlined body and light weight (115 grams). The dimensions of the device are 114.5 x 62.5 x 11.2 mm, that is, it is 3 mm thinner, but slightly wider and longer than the previous model.

The front panel houses the proximity sensor and speaker. Its quality is quite good: the volume is high, the interlocutor is heard clearly and legibly. Below the screen is a mechanical rectangular Home button, and on the left and right - Menu and Back. The backlight of the touch buttons is white, dim. At the bottom there is a microUSB-connector (in the previous model it was covered with a curtain) and a microphone, at the top there is a 3.5 mm audio-out for headphones or a headset. The volume rocker key is on the left side, on the right is the on / off button for the smartphone. The speakerphone, camera and flash are located on the back. The camera module is slightly raised above the body, therefore, it may become covered with scratches, which may deteriorate the quality of photos.

To remove the cover, you need to pull on the notch on the top edge of the device. The memory card slot is located on the bottom left (hot-swappable), the sim card is installed on top.

Display

Unlike its predecessor, the diagonal of the screen is 3.65 "(the same for the Samsung Wave M). The resolution, unfortunately, remains the same - 320x480 pixels, the density has decreased - from 165 (for the Ace) to 158 pixels per inch. The matrix is made using technology TFT-LCD, capable of displaying 16 million shades of color. Touch layer - capacitive type, fulfills up to 5 simultaneous touches. Sensitivity is slightly above average and comparable to Samsung Ace. Pixelization is less noticeable than on Samsung Wave M.

The viewing angles are large, but the picture loses contrast under the slopes. The brightness is adjusted manually in the display settings, since there is no light sensor in the device. There you can also select a font (before downloading from the "Market"), calibrate the three-axis accelerometer (ALPS), set the screen timeout (from 30 seconds to 30 minutes), enable or disable the auto-rotation of information when the phone is tilted and select the backlight time for the touch buttons ... Ace Plus has a proximity sensor (GP2A).

In terms of brightness and color rendering, the screen is slightly inferior to LG Optimus HUB, Sony Ericsson Mini / Mini Pro, Neo V. In the light, the screen does not fade much, the information remains readable:

Camera

The model has a 5-megapixel camera module with autofocus. There is a single-section LED backlight. The maximum image resolution is 2560x1920 pixels, video recording (without autofocus) is in 640x480 pixels at 30 frames per second. Let me remind you that in Samsung Ace permission the video was 320x480 pixels (it is possible that it already writes to VGA in the new firmware).

The quality of the pictures, in my opinion, is the same as in the S5830: the details are high, there is no "soap" at the edges, practically does not "make noise" in insufficient lighting conditions. The maximum shutter speed is 1/8, the minimum is 1/4400, the aperture is f / 2.6.

During video recording, the volume buttons can be adjusted to a three-fold digital "zoom" (in the Ace there was a two-fold).

The camera is launched through the menu using a shortcut. The interface looks like this: on the left - shooting mode (single shot, smile detection, continuous, panorama), scenes (landscape, night, sports, indoor, beach, sunset, etc.), backlight (on, off and "automatic "), settings. On the right is a gallery, switching from photo to video.

Performance

If in the previous Samsung models Galaxy Ace was equipped with a BCM21553 chipset and a processor with a clock frequency of 832 MHz, then there is a Qualcomm MSM7227a chipset: ARM Cortex-A5 with a clock frequency of 1 GHz, DSP - Hexagon QDSP5 350 MHz, Adreno 200 video accelerator, ARMv7 architecture and 45 nm process technology. Frankly speaking, this is the first time I've encountered such a chip.

There are no questions about the speed of work: fast, without "glitches" and "bugs". During testing, the device behaved quite stable.

Navigation

The smartphone is equipped with a seventh generation gpsOne GPS navigator. For the test I will use the Navitel application. I will not describe the installation of the program, I will just briefly mention that to install Navitel you will need two files: APK and maps.

After launching the application, we agree with all the requests that navigation will offer. "Cold" start of coordinates determination - about three minutes, "hot" - up to 10-15 seconds. Unfortunately, the satellites in the room are reluctant to be identified, so the navigator hardly found only three. But in open space - more than 10.

A map and a number of icons appear on the screen: on top - a compass, sound settings, satellite settings, battery power, traffic jams; on the right - scaling, on the bottom left - "Search", on the bottom right - "Menu". Optionally, enable or disable various online services and set up POI filtering: cars, food, trade, entertainment, etc.

You can observe the route navigation in a flat or 3D view, from above or with rotation. Available night mode cards or standard - day. Throughout the trip, there is a voice accompaniment of various events: turns, conditions for receiving satellites, etc.

To search for a destination, select one of the options, for example, by address. We enter the city, street and house. It takes less than a second to create a route, and it will take the same amount of time to rebuild the route in the event of a traffic jam or other unpleasant situation.

The program "Navitel" coped with all the functions perfectly, but the larger screen resolution was clearly not enough, so quite often it was necessary to increase the scale of the map.

Software platform

Shell and menu

To unlock the screen, press the "Menu" or the power button of the device and then slide your finger from the center of the screen to the side. Traditionally, the TouchWIZ shell is used: seven desktops (3 are enabled by default) with widgets, a panel with a "Dialer", "Contacts", "Messages" and an entry to the "Menu". The desktops are assigned: shortcuts, folders, "hot" keys and various widgets. Static and animated screensavers are used as wallpaper. When you hold down the mechanical Home button for a long time, a menu appears with previously launched applications. There is also a task manager.

The menu is represented by 12 icons in a 4x4 grid on one screen. By clicking on the "Menu" and choosing "change" in it, the shortcuts can be moved. Including, they can be installed in the lower panel (“Home” cannot be replaced).

Type of

Determining the type of device (phone or smartphone?) Is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to opt for a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly shorter than that of a simple phone.
