One of them is FaceTime, which is now replacing the well-known Skype.

How to use Apple's program - FaceTime.

Developed by FaceTime by Apple. Its functionality includes calls with audio and video support between devices. It was originally created on the iPhone 4, presented by Steve Jobs in 2010 in the summer, and in the fall there appeared versions compatible with devices operating on the basis of iOS, in 2011 - with Mac OS. FaceTime on iPhone 5 is a calling technology that includes the webcam of the same name, which is an integral part of the phone.

The first program worked in a limited way - via Wi-Fi, this is due to the low data transfer rate of other types of connections. V iOS problem has been resolved, now the utility runs on 3G, 4G networks. The program is available on iPhone devices from version 4, iPad from version 2, iPod from 4th generation, Mac OS X from v10.6.6. As part of the OS included in the software on Apple devices, it does not require downloading installers. Note that you cannot turn off the camera during a call. You can only turn it off temporarily, for a short time, by pressing the special Home button on the iPhone during a conversation. Even if there is no cellular signal, FaceTime will be able to function with a working internet.

ATTENTION. During a call, you cannot simultaneously correspond in social networks if a video call is enabled.

The program uses the Internet, no separate payment is required for calls, you will only have to spend Internet traffic if you are not in a Wi-Fi zone.

What is FaceTime? Requirements

FaceTime can be understood as three definitions at once:

FaceTime over Wi-Fi is supported by the following devices:

FaceTime via cellular networks data transmission (3G, LTE) does not support:

  • iPad 3 and newer
  • iPhone 4S and newer

FaceTime may be unavailable or inactive in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Pakistan.

How do I set up FaceTime?

But to avoid confusion, I recommend disabling all unnecessary e-mails in the “Your address for FaceTime calls” section, leaving only one address or phone number (if you have activated it). You need to re-enter the FaceTime settings and you should see a normal picture.

Now, to call you on FaceTime, the person only needs to know your FaceTime address. If you call, you will clearly know which FaceTime address you are using.

How to make FaceTime calls?

It is important to know that not all devices can make an audio call. So iPod and iPad do not support this function at all, and other gadgets should have operating system not lower than iOS 7.
