Cleaning acer laptop keyboard. How to clean the laptop keyboard from dust and dirt? Basic rules for the use of cleaning agents

The laptop is a faithful companion of many modern people. He is hired to work, to study, and sometimes even to rest. And it is not surprising that the keyboard clogs up rather quickly, the buttons start to sink or are practically not pressed.

  • Tired of typing text skipping letters?
  • Are you annoyed with having to press a key multiple times to make it work?
  • Do you want to bring the keyboard of your favorite laptop to its original state?

Well, then this article is exactly what you need. We will tell you how to solve the problem quickly and without any special effort.

Why the keyboard falls into disrepair: the main reasons

So let's take a close look at the laptop. The keyboard is the most vulnerable part of it. And that's why:

  • Apart from the mouse or touchpad, it is the most commonly used;
  • Mechanical pressing on the keys causes some of them to malfunction;
  • Dust gets clogged between the keys, penetrating to the internal parts too;
  • Very often, various liquids are spilled on the keyboard, as well as food crumbs.

All this by no means contributes to the prolongation of the life of the gadget. Moreover, improper and careless handling of it can easily lead to premature failure. This is why we strongly advise against combining meals and work or play for laptop... And for the stationary too.

So, we figured out the causes of the problem. Now let's see how they can manifest. Here are the main symptoms:

  • Keys fall.
  • Keys are difficult to press.
  • Dirt, stains, oil traces are visible on the buttons and between them.

All of these are very alarming signs. And the sooner you clean your keyboard, the better, because in the most advanced cases, only professionals can help after a complete disassembly of the gadget. And sometimes it becomes completely impossible to fix the problem. That is why it is better to independently monitor the condition of the laptop and clean it in time. And now we will tell you how to do this.

So the laptop has a more responsive keyboard than ordinary computer... The fact that it is built into the body and forms a single unit with all other parts makes disassembly very difficult. After all, you risk ruining the entire gadget. Therefore, we will try to do without analysis.

In total, there are several effective ways:

  • Cleaning with compressed air;
  • Cleaning with special wet wipes;
  • Cleaning with a mini vacuum cleaner;
  • Cleaning by means of a special kit;
  • Disassembling the keyboard.

Let's take a close look at each of them.

Method one: assistant - compressed air

There is such a device, it is called a "blower", outwardly it looks like an enlarged pistol used by boys. When connected to the network, it delivers a powerful stream of air. Perfectly manifests itself in clearing old, already caked dust of system units stationary computers... In principle, it is useful for working with a laptop, but also better fit can of compressed air. It gives a thinner jet, which is important for a small keyboard of a gadget. Advantages: dry cleaning, not a drop of moisture gets inside, power is enough to remove even the smallest and most difficult-to-reach dust. Disadvantages: This cleaning is not cheap. With strong pollution, a spray can not even be enough for one time, while it costs around 500 rubles.

Method two: in the hands of a special napkin or brush

The industry produces a huge range of related products for computer technology... Now in any specialty store you can find wipes and brushes designed just for cleaning keyboards. The accessory is undoubtedly comfortable, but not particularly effective, and here's why. With a brush, you should gently and carefully sweep away any dirt and dust that has accumulated between the buttons. Then wipe this space and the keys themselves with a napkin. First, the process will take a long time. Secondly, you need to be very careful not to damage anything. Thirdly, this is only prevention, but not a complete cleaning. You only remove visible dirt, and rather superficially. However, as a preventive measure, it is worth using such accessories (approximately every 3 days).

Method three: mini vacuum cleaner to help you

What hardworking manufacturers can not come up with so that the laptop will serve its owners as long as possible. A special vacuum cleaner designed to clean the keyboard is an invention of just such a category. The thing is, of course, interesting. It's designed solely with one goal in mind: keeping your computer's buttons in a perfectly clean condition. But is it really so? In general, such a vacuum cleaner is a great detail in combined cleaning. For example, if used in conjunction with brushes or in addition to compressed air. By itself, the mini-vacuum cleaner copes with the task by about a "C". If the pollution is not strong, it will remove it. But the power of such a device is not enough to clean the litter from under the buttons, so neither the rubber bands nor the contacts will receive proper care. This does not mean that a keyboard vacuum cleaner is an unnecessary purchase. Just count on deep cleaning using it is not worth it.

Method four: using cleaning kits

A dirty laptop keyboard is a problem so common and common that many manufacturers solve it in different ways. In addition to the devices and accessories already described, you can pay attention to special kits designed to effectively clean the buttons and the space between them. As a rule, this is the same brush, professional liquid and napkins safe for complex computer equipment. Roughly the same thing that was described under number 2, but only everything in one set and supplemented with a special solution. Again, it is quite effective with constant use since the purchase of the gadget. That is, if after the purchase you periodically and systematically process the "laptop" keys, then it will take a very long time to clean them somehow more seriously. Or not required at all. In other words, the main disadvantage: the frequency of application of the method.

Method five: disassembly as a last resort

Finally, if the contamination is so strong that none of the described methods help, you will have to disassemble the keyboard. But remember: if you are not sure about own forces, it is better to give the equipment to a specialist. In the end, improper handling can lead to irreparable damage.

So, we carefully disassemble the keyboard, while carefully and carefully cleaning each rubber band and processing the contacts. Remember that the laptop in this case must be discharged and de-energized. Use a screwdriver, cleaning products, and a disassembly guide (there are many of these on the internet).

Whichever method you choose, they all require careful handling of your computer. It is strictly prohibited:

  1. Use corrosive liquids for cleaning, not intended for complex equipment;
  2. To pull out or gouge out the keys, in order to remove them, you just need to hook each one with a screwdriver.

Remember to take a photo of the keyboard if you are going to take it apart. This will help you position the buttons correctly later.

With proper care, your laptop will last a very long time. keep an eye on it and carry out maintenance work regularly. Remember: not only the system filling should be clean, but also all the "hardware"!

Video: keyboard cleaning slime

More and more often we sit at the computer. Some communicate in social networks, others listen to music or watch videos, and still others work on the Internet. But you always need a keyboard to work with a computer. If it is dirty, not only does it go bad appearance products, but also affects the efficiency of the computer. A heavily soiled or flooded keyboard may not function at all.

And without it, it is impossible to work on a computer. Sticky keys will also discourage work. computer system... To prevent the keypad from becoming unusable, you need to take care of it, in no case spill liquid on it.

Today you will learn how to clean a computer keyboard at home. Depending on the pollution, there is different ways cleaning your computer.

How to quickly clean your keyboard yourself

You can quickly clean the keyboard if the dirt is superficial in the form of a small layer of dust and crumbs.

If the dirt is insignificant, then simply wipe the keypad with wet napkins, and blow out the debris between the buttons using a hairdryer or a vacuum cleaner using furniture nozzles or just a pipe without a nozzle

How can I clean the keyboard?

For a computer, you can buy a small USB powered vacuum cleaner. Use a special nozzle to carefully clean all corners of the keypad, removing any crumbs and dust between the keys.

Flip the detached keyboard over and shake... Crumbs, garbage will fly out of it. If not all of the crumbs are removed, tap lightly on the inverted keypad to completely remove any food debris.

You can use a computer vacuum cleaner. To clean the keyboard, use a special liquid commercially available from specialized stores. Remember to clean the keypad while the computer is off.

How to clean the keys on the keyboard

If the dirt is of moderate severity, then you can clean the fat deposits with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

Before wiping the keys with alcohol, test the sensitivity with the keyboard. The letters can wear out from this substance. To do this, wipe one key with a cotton swab.

If everything is ok, then we continue to remove fat deposits from the keys. Wipe between the buttons with a brush.

How to clean a computer keyboard at home using a slime.

Clean the keypad with a special slime cloth. After removing the rag from the bag, place it on the top corner of the keyboard and wait for it to completely spread over it.

Wait a few minutes, then remove it from this place. And so clean the entire keypad gradually. Slime penetrates into the most difficult places, collecting dust, dirt, killing bacteria.

How to disassemble and clean the keyboard on a computer

There are two ways to clean the keyboard when it is heavily soiled, by disassembling the keys.

1 way how to disassemble and clean the keyboard

2 way how to disassemble and clean the keyboard

With this method, the buttons do not need to be removed.

How to clean a flooded laptop keyboard acer aspire, hp pavilion, lenovo, macbook

There are 2 types of liquids that affect a laptop: aggressive and non-aggressive.

The more sugar and salt, the more aggressive the liquid. Plain water and unsweetened tea are non-aggressive liquids, coffee and tea with sugar are aggressive.

It depends on what liquid the laptop is filled with whether it will work or not. Weakly aggressive liquids that were the reason for flooding the laptop when taking the right measures are less dangerous than tea, coffee, and soda, salty mineral water, cause irreparable damage to the laptop.

Steps to take after flooding the laptop keyboard

  1. Unplug your laptop. Minutes of delay can lead to a short circuit.
  2. Extract from it HDD, flash drives, battery.
  3. Open the lid and pour the spilled liquid out of it. Wipe the remaining liquid dry with a cloth.
  4. We do not close the lid, but let the laptop dry naturally for two to three days.

How to clean laptop and netbook keyboard contacts

Never turn on the laptop without diagnostics. The laptop may work, but water that is not completely dry will lead to oxidation. The motherboard tends to draw in liquid, which can lead to significant damage.

We told you how to clean the keyboard of a computer, laptop and netbook at home. Take good care of the keyboard, clean, wash.

And most importantly, eat and drink where it should be - in the kitchen, away from your laptop. Five minutes of food in the kitchen will save you and your computer from many troubles and troubles.

And you don't have to contact service center for the repair of computer equipment.

We all love to eat at the laptop screen, turning on, say, our favorite TV series. Or have a coffee. Or gnaw nuts ... In any case, 99% of users can find leftover food in keyboards, unless a laptop or computer is just unpacked and turned on. In addition to food, the keyboard accumulates in its bowels an incredible amount of dust, wool (if there are pets), hair and other debris. And, even if all this "wealth" is imperceptible from the outside, over time it will make itself felt by a malfunction of the keyboard: sticking or even failure of individual keys, or even failure of the entire input device. As you already understood, today's topic is how to clean a laptop keyboard at home and I will try to tell you about this procedure in as much detail as possible.

So, it's decided to keep your keyboard clean. How to do it? It all depends on how long and in what conditions the keyboard has been used, on the neatness of the owner and, of course, on the place where the laptop is. If you work, for example, in a cement warehouse, then dust will accumulate not only in the keyboard, but also inside the laptop. By the way, if your laptop freezes or shuts down on its own, I recommend that you study the article "". Why read it, you ask? If the laptop is dusty, then you may have problems with your laptop components and also decrease the performance of the device.

Some specific and obvious contamination cases will require special action. Therefore, read the article carefully. I will tell everything possible ways"Hygiene" in relation to this device in order, and at the end of the article I will devote to the basics of "first aid" when filling a laptop with liquid.

External cleaning

The easiest way to make the keyboard look "decent" is to take a cloth (dry or slightly damp) and go over all the keys, brushing off the dust and wiping off the dirt. Take special care to remove the end part of the keys, as this is where grease from your hands and dust accumulates.

IMPORTANT: before carrying out any manipulations to clean the keyboard, it must be disconnected from the computer... If we are talking about a laptop keyboard, then you need to turn off the power of the laptop and remove the battery.

A rag or sponge will help you clean the keyboard visually. However, often the main "stocks" of debris are not on the keys, but under them or on the side. And in order to extract them from there, more serious funds will be required.

First, use a brush. You can find special brushes for cleaning the keyboard on sale, but they can be replaced with any soft brush for painting, a small painting one, and you can even use a toothbrush (it is convenient to use when cleaning the keys). Carefully brush between the keys, trying to grab as much space underneath them and extract all the dust. You will be surprised how much there really is. Try not to press hard on the brush, as there are fasteners under the keys, which from your pressure may not withstand and break. Next, I'll show you how they look.

Let's go further. A brush is handy and inexpensive, but it won't help if the dirt gets deep inside the keyboard. And the design of the buttons on some keyboards will not allow you to get out all the dust and dirt. And in this case, a compressed air cylinder will come to our aid. You can find it in almost any computer store, and its use should not raise any questions: you just point the nose inside the keyboard and press the trigger (or the spray button) - and all the debris is blown out of the keyboard under the pressure of air. Compressed air cleaning is enough effective method, and it can really make life easier for the keyboard, but it has a drawback.

All the dust from the keyboard just flies into the air, and then it will also need to be collected somehow. To make cleaning easier, I recommend removing everything from the table and leaving only your laptop. Also, the laptop can be laid out on the floor to quickly and easily collect debris from the keyboard.

Vacuum cleaner for cleaning the keyboard

So we come to the "heavy artillery" in the matter of cleaning the keyboard. Removing dust with an air stream is quite effective, but we need the dust not to scatter, but, on the contrary, would collect somewhere, for example, in a vacuum cleaner. The solution is obvious - a vacuum cleaner! But don't rush to pounce on the keyboard with a household vacuum cleaner. Let me remind you that a laptop is a relatively "delicate" device, and therefore a car vacuum cleaner or even a special keyboard vacuum cleaner is better suited for cleaning the keyboard. With its help, you can get dust from even the most inaccessible places.

If you can choose the power in your vacuum cleaner, then that's great. Set the power to the smallest and try it in action.

If you want to clean your keyboard at home, I have another idea. You can take a regular hair dryer and blow it through your keyboard. When you purge the keyboard, be sure to switch it to cold air, as hot air can harm your faithful friend.

Isopropyl alcohol

We removed the dust, but sometimes other contaminants remain on the keyboard and inside it - traces of sweets, sticky drips from drinks, etc. Against such dirt, a vacuum cleaner and any other dry cleaning products are powerless. But even in this case, there is a solution: take isopropyl alcohol (or a cleaning agent based on it) and apply it on a cotton swab, and then clean it with it. The cotton swab will help you walk between the keys and in other hard-to-reach places, while isopropyl alcohol will remove any dirt that has lodged there.

IMPORTANT: never use ethyl alcohol to clean the keyboard. Otherwise, together with the dirt, letters from the keys can come off. Then you will have to buy a new keyboard or stickers for your keys.

And, finally, if all the means have been tried, and some keys do not work, or stick, crackle when pressed, etc., you will have to look at the problem "from the inside", that is, disassemble the keyboard.

Removing keyboard buttons when cleaning

IMPORTANT: if you disassemble the entire keyboard or remove several buttons - be sure to take a photo of the keyboard "before", so that later you do not have to rack your brains and remember where which key was located. If you have already disassembled the keyboard and are wondering where to insert the keys, then you can find images on the Internet. Enter your laptop model into the search and pay attention to the pictures. And one more thing: remember that any mechanical tampering will destroy the warranty, so be careful.

To begin with, I recommend removing the keys that you think are problematic. For example, they are badly pressed or make extraneous sounds. I would also recommend starting with a key that you very, very rarely use. If something does not go as you planned, then you will not worry about a breakdown.

To remove the button, it is enough to pry it with something sharp (a screwdriver, knife or thin knitting needle) from one edge, then carefully do it from the adjacent corner and so on in a circle until the button is removed. Usually the mechanism is as follows - insert, for example, a knife into the upper right corner and lead it to the bottom. After which the key will rise up.

In keyboards, the keys are held on plastic latches, so be careful when removing and do not use significant force. Once the buttons are removed, use the same cleaning products that I mentioned above: compressed air and cotton swabs with cleaning agent. Now that the buttons are in full view, you can definitely get rid of all the dirt in the keyboard.

Remember that it is important to always be careful: if you are working with a cleaning agent, you do not allow it to "flood" into the interior of the keyboard, especially on the key contacts. If you have a vacuum cleaner in your hands, try not to collect small parts with the dust - buttons and fragments of fasteners.

When all the keys are clean, you need to insert them where you got them. Open the photo on your phone or camera where you took a photo of the keyboard "before". Then carefully insert all the keys back. There is a video below that will show you how to remove and insert the keys into your laptop. But I want to note right away that the manufacturers may have a slightly different mechanism that holds the key. Therefore, be careful! You can also through search engine find an example of parsing your brand's keys. Below you can see what the mechanism looks like under the Samsung NP300E5C key:

And, finally, I will give you a slightly exotic tool, not very common among computer masters.

Such sticky elements made of material, similar to rubber, can be bought on the Internet, for example, in China on all well-known sites. The way to use them is as follows: you put this "slime" (by analogy with a toy popular with children) on the keyboard and press down a little. Due to its properties, the substance penetrates between the keys and collects all accessible dust and dirt. Then you simply "peel off" this mass, freeing the keyboard from dirt.

Why did I give this method at the end of the article? Firstly, we need to look for this material and secondly, it seems to me, a vacuum cleaner or a can of compressed air, or better - they are both in tandem, will be much more effective than this "slime".

In order not to bring the keyboard to a deplorable state and save its life, and yourself - nerves and money, carry out the cleaning procedure regularly. As you can see, it is not difficult at all.

If liquid is spilled

Important information in case you knocked a glass of drink on your PC or laptop keyboard and do not know what to do. The procedure is not complicated, but the further viability of not only the keyboard, but the entire laptop will depend on the speed of its execution:

As soon as liquid is spilled, turn off the power:

If the battery is not removed, energy will flow into the laptop. In this case, a short circuit may occur and you will have to contact the computer wizard anyway. To remove the battery, you need to turn the laptop over and now move the slider or sliders to the left or right side simultaneously. In the picture above, we see that there are 2 of them.

Turn the laptop over and drain as much liquid as possible. You can leave the laptop in this position for 2-5 minutes so that the liquid spills out as much as possible. Liquid is a very dangerous substance for a laptop. If the motherboard burns out, the repair will cost 30% - 50% of the laptop's price.

Dry your laptop with a hair dryer using a cold air blower.

If, in your opinion, a lot of liquid got inside, it is necessary to remove the keys and eliminate the consequences of the flood. It is possible that contact with liquid will oxidize the contacts of some keys. In this case, repairing them without the intervention of a master is indispensable.

I hope that my recommendations will help you and you will solve your problem. You can leave your experience in solving this problem in the comments so that users who will read this article can use them.

If you are using your laptop acer aspire, asus, hp pavilion, lenovo, samsung, toshiba, sony vaio, dell, packard bell, msi or dns for a long time, you will probably notice that the keyboard is not shiny and needs to be cleaned.

This happens especially often when you eat and write at the same time. Not only does the keyboard start to look disgusting, but sometimes the buttons even stop functioning properly.

Fortunately, cleaning the keyboard isn't too difficult and you can do the job yourself at home.

Sometimes, in order to thoroughly clean under the keys, the keyboard must be disassembled in order to clean the contacts and the cable, especially if it is flooded or used in dusty rooms.

I will show you how to do it yourself in order to restore the original look, for a pleasant work (dirty does not look aesthetically pleasing).

NOTE: almost nothing depends on the laptop model, it's all about the architecture - this concerns the moment when you need to remove and clean the keyboard keys.

Is it possible to clean any keyboard at home

The housing, keys and mechanism can be cleaned in each keyboard. However, a lot depends on how hard you take it apart.

Deep disassembly (after flooding) requires much more time and precision, but it's worth it if you don't want to buy a new one (it's much easier with a computer).

Will a flooded keyboard work after cleaning

Most keyboards are easy to clean. The plastic buttons hang on the eraser and all the elements of the classic keyboard are waterproof, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Just be careful! Not every keyboard can be restored to its original state after a spilled liquid - it all depends on the technical solutions used by the manufacturer.

Some are equipped with an electronic integrated transceiver that cannot withstand even a drop of water.

Therefore, it may happen that the flooded keyboard will not work, even after it has completely dried out.

How can you clean your keyboard at home

The number of cosmetics used to clean computer equipment is almost as large as the number of keyboard models available on the market.

The most expensive detergents often cost as much as new keyboard so it's not worth buying.

When cleaning the most useful compressed air, a brush with stiff bristles, detergent and antibacterial wipes. In addition, you should prepare two screwdrivers and a bowl of dishwashing liquid.

Why clean your keyboard at home

Keeping it clean will not only work better, but you will also be healthier - some of the buttons live on bacteria and viruses that can be dangerous to you.

Preparing the keyboard for cleaning

Since it has to be disassembled to thoroughly clean it, the first step you must take is to take a picture of the system. This will help you set the buttons correctly after cleaning.

To take a picture, you can use any digital camera or a mobile phone with a shooting function. Now you can turn off your laptop and prepare a place on the table.

How to clean a standard keyboard at home

If you are not planning on disassembling, use compressed air and a stiff bristled brush that effectively removes debris accumulated under the keys.

If you will dismantle, then you need a screwdriver, and in order not to scratch the plastic buttons, line it with a ribbon slot.

Then press the tip of a screwdriver between the keys and slightly detonate the key until it pops out of the guides. I use a screwdriver and use my finger as a lever.

In this way, we sequentially dismantle all the keys.

Only now you can see how much dirt has accumulated under the keys. Not only are buttons difficult to press, but they are also an ideal breeding ground for bacteria.

Dust on the keyboard is best removed with compressed air. You can also use a vacuum cleaner.

Use a damp cloth to thoroughly clean the keyboard and remove any remaining dirt.

In hard-to-reach spaces, use a cotton swab.

Now we come to the most tedious part of the job - cleaning the buttons. If they are heavily soiled, prepare a bowl of warm water with a little dish soap and soak them for at least 30 minutes.

After washing, wipe with a tissue and leave to dry completely. On older keyboards, exposure to sunlight for extended periods of time can cause discoloration of the keycases.

Unfortunately, you cannot clean yellowed buttons with any detergent. After drying, using the photo, proceed to the installation.

Start with the big keys. In their case, you must place the hooks correctly in the bracket. They are used to hold buttons.

In the next step, while inserting the button, fix the direction and press firmly.

After you install everything, turn on the laptop. The unit is clean and ready to go.

Modern keyboard cleaning at home

Dismantling is time consuming and requires manual labor, which can create many problems.

In search alternative ways cleaning should pay attention to chemical detergents, such as CyberClean.

It is a thick gel that works well as a bacterial cleanse. The gel effect may not be as good as removing the buttons, but CyberClean can be used for less dirty keyboards.

CyberClean is also suitable for cleaning mobile phone, printer panels or remote control.

After purchase, it is stored in an airtight container. Let's see how to use it and what the results are.

First, remove all coarse dirt and then remove it from the package. The substance is soft but not sticky, so you can handle it with confidence.

We put the gel on the keyboard and press it over the entire surface, including those between the keys.

Using your fingers gently, try to clean the top and sides of the keys.

Various impurities can be seen on the surface of the gel that have adhered to the cleaning agent.

If cleaning is not satisfactory, try repeating the procedure until you succeed. After cleaning, remove any dirt from the gel and place it in a bag.

How to clean a low-profile keyboard in a laptop at home

The standard keyboard is simpler in design. Low-profile, due to less key travel, it is much more comfortable for many people.

Such a keyboard should be cleaned somewhat differently than described above for a standard one.

Removing all buttons is difficult and risky - the delicate retention mechanism can easily be damaged.

At the beginning of dismantling, carefully remove the last right row of keys using a thin tool. Here I want to share one observation.

I have a small child. More recently, I advised him to take care of flies. The fly sat down on the keyboard. He hit with a fly swatter. The keys popped up like cockroaches.

Due to the low key travel, even the smallest crumb can malfunction. This is why it is very important to thoroughly remove all debris from under the keys.

You can use compressed air for this. Moving the compressed gas drain tube over the keys, place the dirt in the direction of the removed keys, and then remove it.

Then put everything back in place and wipe the entire keyboard with a damp cloth. Unlike standard keyboard you can easily clean the side panels of the buttons. Fellowes germicidal tissue gives good results.

In the case of low profile keyboards, you must take extra care. Their suspension mechanism is extremely delicate and can be easily damaged.

How to disassemble and clean a scissor keyboard in a laptop

For the scissor, we prepare two flat screwdrivers and slightly lift the top of the button.

We do this until it is unlocked.

Then we take the button with our fingers and carefully lift it up, unbuttoning the bottom mounting.

For large keys, the metal bracket must also be unbend.

It's good if the mechanism does not unfasten. Unfortunately, very often two more elements are removed.

Scissor requires precision and patience. When looking at other buttons, set them back. After this operation, the mechanism should act as a hinge.

Place the wider end in the hooks and press firmly against the upper clamping mechanism to engage.

There is one more key action left - place the button on the mount and tighten it.

That's all. You can also clean the cable and contacts, but I will not describe this process, but in the near future I will make a video so that you do not accidentally do miracles.

The train is thin, like the east, it is not a joke with it. To see it, you need to remove not the keys, but the entire keyboard.

Contacts can be cleaned with alcohol, only not diluted and not isopropyl alcohol, but with traditional alcohol - this will be correct.

If the keyboard is flooded, and cleaning does not solve the problem (does not work completely), then the service can put you a new one.

You can do it yourself - the main thing is to find an identical one, otherwise you will not be able to cut it or deepen the installation site.

NOTE: not yet brought into working condition - not very convenient, but bearable. Good luck.

The keyboard is constantly exposed to mechanical stress and therefore requires replacement more often. However, many of its breakdowns are explained by pollution, which means that knowing how to clean a laptop keyboard at home can significantly extend its "life" and get rid of significant expenses for buying and installing a new one.

Choosing a cleaning method

In a stationary PC, dirt entering the keyboard can cause malfunction of this device only, without causing harm to the computer. In a laptop, the keyboard is built into the case, which means that everything that gets under the buttons can get inside to the electronic "stuffing". In this case, the owner may face serious troubles - from a violation of ventilation, which leads to overheating and spontaneous shutdown of the PC, to the failure of the electronics ( motherboard, processor, etc.). Therefore, you need to know how to clean the keyboard on a laptop yourself. It is advisable to carry out this work regularly, without waiting for the appearance of signs of a malfunction of the device.

The choice of the method by which the laptop keyboard will be cleaned depends on the type and degree of its pollution.

  1. Dirt, greasy spots from hands and dust on the outer surface of the keys do not interfere with the operation of the device, but they greatly spoil the appearance and are simply unhygienic. Cleaning requires a cloth and cleaning fluid.
  2. Debris and dirt getting inside the keyboard can cause individual buttons to sink in or not work (not squeeze). In this case, more serious work is required to remove dirt from the device.
  3. If tea, coffee, or other liquid is spilled on the device, emergency measures must be taken to save the device and laptop.

Surface cleaning

Used in the first case to remove dirt directly from the keys and in the space between them. It is advisable to clean the PC keyboard once a month. The buttons should be cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth. The use of cotton wool for these purposes is not advisable. The space between the buttons is cleaned with a soft brush, in extreme cases - with cotton swabs, but you should be careful not to leave fluff between the keys.

As a cleaning liquid, it is advisable to use special cleaning compounds, for example, gel from the company "Defender". But you can get by with home remedies. Diluted isopropyl alcohol is suitable, it cleans plastic well, but not everyone has this substance. There is a universal remedy that everyone has. The keys can be cleaned perfectly and safely with plain soapy water.

Before cleaning the keyboard, be sure to turn off the computer and remove the battery!

The prepared napkin should be slightly moistened with a cleaning liquid, so that its drops cannot get inside the keyboard and gently wipe (and not wash) all the keys with it. Moisten a brush or cotton swab with soapy water, be sure to blot it with a napkin, and then clean the space between the buttons. At the end, you need to thoroughly wipe the device with a dry cloth and do not turn on the computer for 20-30 minutes.

Do not use acetone and other solvents for cleaning, as they are capable of dissolving (melting) the keyboard and the case of the device. Do not wash the buttons with vodka or other compounds containing ethyl alcohol. This highly corrosive substance will easily remove dirt and keyboard paint.

Regularly removing dirt from the keys significantly extends the life of the device. In addition, the need for deep cleaning will be much less frequent.

Deep cleaning keyboard

If debris and dirt gets under the keys, it is impossible to work normally on the laptop. In this case, you cannot do without thorough cleaning. First, you should try to remove the dirt without disassembling the keyboard:

  • Use a long-bristled brush to clean the gaps between the keys, occasionally turning the laptop over and shaking it gently.
  • Place the laptop at an angle and blow out the keyboard with a hair dryer (cold air)
  • Do the same with a portable can of compressed air.
  • Use a special miniature USB vacuum cleaner.

If, after the performed manipulations, the buttons continue to stick or do not squeeze, then you will have to disassemble and wash the keyboard. Better to remove it from your laptop. Before attempting to remove the keyboard, you need to figure out how it is secured to the laptop. V different models it is fixed in different ways in the housing. More often the keyboard is fastened with latches. Press the latches with a thin screwdriver, starting from the upper left corner. After releasing the top and sides, the keyboard is gently pulled out of the case. This must be done very carefully so as not to damage the ribbon connecting it to the motherboard. Having carefully disconnected the cable, you can start disassembling. But before that, the keyboard must be photographed, otherwise it will be difficult to return the keys to their places later. The buttons are removed with a screwdriver, but this must be done very carefully, since their fastenings are quite "delicate".

After disassembling, the buttons can be washed with soapy water, and the base and contacts can be cleaned with a soft brush. In case of severe contamination, the contacts and rubber bands should be wiped with a cloth dampened with a cleaning solution or soapy water, and then wiped dry. In no case should you wash them.

After finishing cleaning, it is advisable to allow all parts to dry thoroughly, after which you can assemble the keyboard and reinstall it.

If after the procedure performed, some keys do not work, then there is no point in disassembling and washing the keyboard again, since, most likely, it is not dirt, but a malfunction, and it will have to be replaced.

Every laptop owner is able to carry out preventive surface cleaning himself. Complete disassembly and cleaning can also be done independently, but it is better to entrust this work to specialists.
