If the webcam needs bright sunlight, then the screen is not ready to cope with it. The fact that the tested model Dell Inspiron 7567 uses a simple TN-matrix, became clear immediately, one had only to look at it at least from a slight angle. The image instantly degraded: the brightness visually decreased, the color temperature changed, and the contrast dropped. This notebook is equipped with a matte TN-matrix CMN15C4 manufactured by Chi Mei - and this, let's run a little ahead, is its main drawback. In the EMEA region, which includes Russia, options with Full HD-resolution are available only with TN-matrices. In the modification with an Ultra HD display, IPS is used, but such a version of the Dell Inspiron 7567 has not yet been seen on sale.
The TrueColor program supposedly needs to improve the image. It is possible to independently change the temperature, saturation and color of the skin, as well as to choose among five preset modes: "Vivid", "Office", "Cinema", "Outdoor" and "Natural". Of course, none of the TrueColor presets has brought the Dell Inspiron 7567's screen closer to truly realistic color reproduction. The "Saturated" mode turned out to be the best, although the results shown in the table below show that it, to put it mildly, is far from ideal.

The CMN15C4 matrix is bad. In terms of white luminosity, the display does not even reach 200 cd / m2 (minimum brightness - 11 cd / m2, maximum - 190 cd / m2). The screen has a low contrast ratio and a low gamut compared to the target for the sRGB (2.2) standard, but an extremely high color temperature. And this is noticeable without using a colorimeter. Color reproduction is unrealistic as deviations in both grayscale and ColorChecker 24 are seriously out of bounds. At the same time, the color gamut is noticeably narrower than the sRGB standard - the display shows a frankly faded picture. The only good news is that the tested model does not have a PWM effect at all brightness levels.
In general, citizens who often watch movies and work with all sorts of graphic editors should not recommend the Dell Inspiron 7567 with a TN matrix.

But the Dell Inspiron 7567 has a quite high-quality sound subsystem made of the Realtek ALC262 chip, which is quite common in laptops, and 2.1 format acoustics. The laptop has a decent volume reserve, the speakers “pump” the living room of a typical apartment without any problems. At the maximum level, I did not notice wheezing and other artifacts. The presence of the "sub" noticeably improves the reproduction of low frequencies, although the richness of the bass is still a little lacking.
Sound settings are made in the WAVES MaxAudio Pro program. The program offers the user an equalizer, as well as sliders for changing bass, width and sound detail. The microphone settings are also located here. With WAVES MaxAudio Pro and Dell Inspiron 7567, you can record audio podcasts.
⇡ Internal structure and upgrade possibilities
Those who buy the most affordable Dell Inspiron 7567 will love that the manufacturer has provided a simple do-it-yourself upgrade.

As we already found out, the laptop has one 8 GB DDR4-2400 RAM module and a 1000 GB Toshiba MQ02ABD100H hybrid hard drive with 8 GB Flash memory. If desired, the user can add more RAM (there is a second SO-DIMM slot, the maximum volume is 32 GB), as well as a solid state drive with an M.2 slot. Dell Inspiron 7567 Supports SSD C SATA interfaces 6 Gb / s and PCI Express x4 3.0 size 2280. Wireless module, 2.5-inch hard drive (bay compatible with HDDs up to 9.5 mm thick) and battery can be replaced as needed.

Under load in LinX 0.7.0, the central processor does not throttle, the frequency of all four cores is kept at around 3090 MHz in the mode Turbo Boost- this is almost the maximum level at full load for the Core i5-7300HQ. At the same time, the temperature of the hottest core reaches 82 degrees Celsius, which is a good result. The Dell Inspiron 7567 is expected to be quite noisy under load. The measuring device, fixed at the level of the user's head (~ 30 cm from the laptop), recorded 49.8 dB.
In games, the GP107 frequency, depending on the application, changes in the range of 1658-1671 MHz. The discrete version of the GeForce GTX 1050 chip, by the way, operates at lower frequencies: 1493-1582 MHz. At the same time, the temperature of the Dell Inspiron 7567 graphics crystal rises to a maximum of 64 degrees Celsius. The noise level is again high: 49.5 dB at 30 centimeters from the laptop. Note that in games, the central processor warms up to 70 degrees on the hottest core.
Overall, the 15.6-inch laptop had expectedly efficient cooling. The system is noisy enough, but massive heat pipes and a pair of fans allow you not to reduce the frequency of iron in resource-intensive tasks.
⇡ Testing methodology
The laptop is a gaming laptop, so it is logical to test it in a large number of popular games. Since the system has a GeForce GTX 1050 installed, the use of exclusively maximum or close to them graphics quality settings, in my opinion, does not make any practical sense, therefore Dell Inspiron 7567 was tested including using the "High" automatic image mode, but in some cases without anti-aliasing. Game performance was measured using the well-known FRAPS program. It allows you to get the render time of each frame. Then, using the FRAFS Bench Viewer utility, not only the average FPS, but also the 99th percentile was calculated. The use of the 99th percentile instead of the indicators of the minimum number of frames per second is due to the desire to clear the results of random spikes in performance, which were provoked by reasons not directly related to the operation of the main components of the platform.
The performance of the processor and memory was measured using the following software:
- SunSpider... Benchmark aimed at measuring performance in a JavaScript environment. The test was carried out in Google browser Chrome.
- Corona 1.3. Testing the rendering speed using the renderer of the same name. Determines the build speed of a standard BTR scene used to measure performance.
- WinRAR 5.40. Archiving an 11 GB folder with various data in RAR5 format and with the maximum compression ratio.
- Blender 2.76. Determining the speed of the final rendering in one of the popular free software packages for creating 3D graphics. The time taken to build the final model from Blender Cycles Benchmark rev4 is measured.

⇡ Performance of the processor, RAM and disk subsystem
As I already said, laptops with GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti on board are equipped with either a central Core processor i5-7300HQ or Core i7-7700HQ. Alternative options not available for Dell Inspiron 7567.
V multithreaded applications the difference between the Core i5-7300HQ and the Core i7-7700HQ turns out to be quite significant. First, the older Kaby Lake supports Hyper-threading technology, which guarantees it the presence of eight threads. Secondly, the Core i7-7700HQ runs at a higher frequency. So, when all four cores are loaded, the frequency of the older processor reaches 3.4 GHz, which is 300 MHz more than that of the Core i5-7300HQ. In the same CINEBENCH R15, the older model is 46% ahead of the younger one.
The spindle speed of Toshiba MQ02ABD100H is "notebook" 5400 rpm. Obviously, the drive is not destined to set records in benchmarks. In linear operations, the read and write speed of the hard drive does not exceed 100 MB / s - this is a low indicator even among other mechanical storage devices. However, the Toshiba model belongs to the class of solid-state hybrid drives(SSHD - Solid State Hybrid Drive), so the available non-volatile 8 GB flash memory contains the data that the user works with most often. For example, the Windows files used to boot. With them, the operating system really boots noticeably faster.

The effect of the presence of SSHD in a laptop does not appear immediately. The drive needs multiple passes for the files to be cached to the flash memory of the disk. For example, in PCMark 7, the Toshiba MQ02ABD100H was 21% faster than itself after five consecutive runs of the benchmark.
⇡ Performance in 3DMark and games
Let's move on to analyzing the graphics component of the laptop. In 3DMark Time Spy, the tested Dell Inspiron 7567 scored 1734 points.
As expected, the laptop version of the GeForce GTX 1050 does not "export" modern games at the maximum graphics quality settings. Of the ten projects, only in Fallout 4 and GTA V can we talk about any kind of playability, since the average number of frames per second turned out to be above 30 FPS. Noticeable FPS drawdowns appear, among other things, due to a lack of RAM and video memory. Fortunately, the amount of RAM can be increased. But the problem of lack of video memory in games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Watch_Dogs 2, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Ghost Recon Wildlands and Civilization VI can only be solved by lowering the graphics quality settings.
As soon as the settings were lowered to the "High" mode, playing became noticeably more comfortable in half of the games. In five applications out of ten, the number of frames per second did not drop below 25 FPS. Therefore, in the "Medium" mode, we can expect an even more comfortable frame rate from the GeForce GTX 1050 with 4 GB and 8 GB of RAM. For those who are not impressed by such results, it makes sense to look towards more productive configuration with GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.
The performance of the Core i5-7300HQ is sufficient for budget NVIDIA graphics. In the Dell Inspiron 7567, the graphics card was always 100% loaded. Therefore, for those who will use a laptop exclusively for gaming, it makes no sense to overpay for a more expensive model with a Core i7-7700HQ.
⇡ Autonomous work
The Dell Inspiron 7567 has a 74 Wh Li-ion battery. In its class, this is a contender for the title of one of the most durable laptops, since the competitor models I mentioned earlier use less capacious batteries.
Dell Inspiron 7567 can really be called a hardy laptop ... ru and Unsplash.com in the Google Chrome browser (with cookies turned off) with an interval of 30 seconds - it lasted almost 9 hours! The brightness of the screen was 190 cd / m2. It can be seen that the work of the central processor is well optimized for this type of load.
When watching a video, the laptop worked less, but still the result was decent. Six hours of battery life is quite enough to while away the evening on a trip along with two or three movie novels. In games, when the GeForce GTX 1050 is 100% loaded, and the central processor is clearly not idle, the battery lasted for one hour and twenty minutes. You won't play for a long time, in general. In addition, when running on battery power, the system dynamically degrades graphics performance, limiting rendering to 30 FPS.
When the laptop is turned off, the battery will fully charge in about an hour and a half.
⇡ Conclusions
The performance of the mobile version of the GeForce GTX 1050 is enough to play modern games in Full HD resolution. Yes, the graphics will not always obey the maximum graphics quality settings, but at high and medium settings, it is quite possible to get a comfortable number of frames per second. Games that are undemanding to hardware like Dota 2, CS: GO, World of Warcraft or StarCraft II are all the more capable of the younger version of GeForce Pascal.
The considered configuration of the Dell Inspiron 7567 should not scare off potential buyers. If you want to install an additional 8 GB in the laptop (the maximum for a laptop is 32 GB, but 16 GB is quite enough for games) of RAM, as well as an M.2 drive will not be difficult.
Dell has an interesting but controversial model. The Inspiron 7567 looks interesting, has a long battery life, sounds good, and the CPU and video card in it do not overheat (even though the cooling system is noisy). General impression from the tested device spoils the display - the TN-matrix in Full HD-versions does not stand up to any criticism. Among the entry-level Pascal graphics cards installed in desktop computers, there is a strict distinction: the GeForce GTX 1050 has 2 GB of video memory, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti has 4 GB. In the case of laptop versions of the same graphics adapters, options are possible: on sale you can find both a GeForce GTX 1050 with 4 GB and a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 2 GB. And these are not all the differences between laptop and PC graphics cards.
Firstly, laptop accelerators have a higher GPU frequency, so in theory, the mobile version of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is more productive than the desktop version. In theory - because in the case of laptops, a lot is decided by the efficiency of the cooling system.
Secondly, NVIDIA has significantly cut the mobile GeForce GTX 1050 chip. For example, there is a minimal difference in performance between the GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti desktop versions of the GPU. In games in Full HD resolution, if the GPU performance is not limited due to lack of video memory, the younger version of the GP107 lags behind the older one by only 5-8 frames per second. This is why NVIDIA strictly ranks these discrete cards in terms of GDDR5 capacity. But between the mobile GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, the difference in speed will be more noticeable, because the younger version of the GP107 has half the number of raster operations units (16 versus 32). In addition, the older version has a noticeably higher clock frequency: 1493 MHz versus 1345 MHz. Since the laptop GeForce GTX 1050 does not have a limit on the amount of video memory, there is a risk that users simply would not buy the more expensive GeForce GTX 1050 Ti if the difference in performance was minimal.
⇡ Specifications and equipment
By the time this material was prepared, there were five modifications of the Inspiron 7567 on the official Dell website. However, I did not find all the models in the local sale. Four configurations out of five are available in two colors: red and black. The most productive modification also received a 4K display. In Russian retail, if we discard the color and pre-installed software, there were four versions of the laptop, all with Full HD screens. The main modifications of the Inspiron 15,000 Gaming (7567), as well as other 15.6-inch laptops of a similar class (Lenovo has the Legion Y520 series, ASUS has ROG STRIX GL553, HP has OMEN 15, Acer has Aspire VX 15) are formed around four components: the quad-core Core i5-7300HQ and Core i7-7700HQ processors, as well as the GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics cards. The Inspiron 7567 only uses 4GB graphics accelerators. The laptop under the number 7567-9309 considered in this review, in addition to the simplest processor and adapter, received a 1000 GB Toshiba MQ02ABD100H hybrid hard drive and 8 GB of DDR4-2400 RAM. Other options for the Dell Inspiron 7567 include models with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB SSDs and laptops with 16GB of RAM.
Additionally, I note that there are versions on sale under the number 7567-8814 (black) and 7567-8920 (red). These are the simplest configurations, similar to the one discussed in the review. The difference is that instead of Windows 10, they are preinstalled with the Linux operating system, so versions 7567-8814 and 7567-8920 cost less - 50,000 rubles on average.
The laptop comes with only a 130-watt external power supply weighing about 500 g.
⇡ Appearance
The Inspiron 7567 is a rugged yet memorable laptop. I suppose that is how a device with an emphasis on gaming should be. Dell designers have managed to combine smooth, streamlined shapes and sharp corners. More important is the overall high build quality of the device.

When closed, the Inspiron 7567 is a decent thickness compared to, for example, 25.4mm for Ultrabooks. However, similar 15.6-inch models with a similar set of hardware are almost as "full": Lenovo Legion Y520 - 25.8 mm, HP OMEN 15 - 25 mm, Acer aspire VX 15 - 28.9 mm. It turns out that the Inspiron 7567 is actually one of the slimmest notebooks in its class. The mass of such models is in the region of 2.5 kg, well, specifically, the Dell Inspiron 7567 will weigh the backpack 2.6 kg excluding the external power supply.
The laptop lid does not open completely - approximately 160 degrees. The design of the swing mechanism uses rigid hinges that securely fix user-installed screen position.

The lid, side edges, as well as the area with the keyboard and touchpad are covered with soft-touch plastic - pleasant to the touch, but relatively easily soiled. It shows dust, fingerprints, and detergent streaks.
The bottom of the Dell Inspiron 7567 is made of ordinary matte plastic. Most of it is a detachable cover with perforation for operating the cooling fans and a grill for sound output from the subwoofer. Two long rubber feet prevent the laptop from sliding on a flat surface - tested on wood, glass and plastic surfaces.
All major interfaces are located on the sides of the laptop. On the left, there is a hole for installing a Noble Lock, a connector for an external power adapter, one USB 3.0 Type-A and a card reader familiar with SD / SDHC / SDXC formats. On right side Dell engineers have placed two more USB 3.0 A-types, an HDMI-out, an Ethernet port and a combo 3.5mm mini-jack to which the gaming headset is connected. One of the USB ports supports the USB PowerShare function, which allows you to charge external devices connected to this connector, even when the laptop is in sleep mode, until the battery is discharged to a certain percentage of its full capacity. The user can independently set in BIOS settings value for USB PowerShare: 0, 3, 10, 25, 50 or 75%.
Even in models with 15.6-inch screens, they stopped using frankly outdated optical drives- there is no DVD or something like that in the Dell Inspiron 7567.
Black models have white backlighting, while red models have red backlighting. It is impossible to choose another shade, but two brightness modes are provided at once. If the laptop is not connected to the network, and the user does not use the keyboard for two minutes, the backlight automatically turns off so as not to waste battery power.
The dimensions of the Dell Inspiron 7567 allowed for a full-size keyboard with number pad. The movement of the buttons is small, but distinct. Pressing is accompanied by a soft and dull sound. At the same time, the presence of a slight backlash is felt tactilely, which does not interfere at all when typing and during the game.
I didn't like the tiny Enter and the small arrow keys - it took the longest to get used to them. But Caps Lock, Tab, Backspace and "Shifts" are very convenient size. All the control keys of the laptop, activated in combination with the Fn modifier, are located in the top row, on the Esc, F1-F12 and PrtScr buttons.
The touchpad allows you to control the operating system using gestures. The touch pad itself is small (10.6 × 8 cm) and is traditionally placed closer to the left side for gaming solutions. The pressure is distinct, with a pronounced and audible click. I did not notice any flaws when working with the touchpad, but in games it is definitely more convenient to use a mouse.
The webcam allows you to shoot in 720p resolution at 30 Hz. The quality of the video is poor; indoors, under artificial lighting, the picture is dark and very noisy. For example, such an image is definitely not suitable for streaming. Satisfactory quality can only be achieved in bright natural light. For example, outside on a sunny day.
Today it is not easy to buy a good gaming device, but at the same time not to pay a fabulous sum of money for it. If you do not want to attract too much attention, then you should stop at it. On the other hand, red looks bright, stylish and very memorable, so this is a matter of taste and personal preference. The entire front edge is covered with a pretty, decorative grille, behind which the power indicator and the battery charge / activity indicator of the hard drive is hidden, it can glow white or yellow. It also houses the user-facing speakers that produce impressively loud sound. There are no connectors on the back side, only two large enough ventilation holes, providing the model with excellent cooling. In addition, additional ventilation grilles are located at the bottom of the device.

The top cover and the area around the keyboard are very pleasant to the touch, it looks like it is a Soft touch coating. But this has its drawback - the surface easily collects fingerprints.

Until recently, a Dell Inspiron 7567 laptop could be bought in the Russian market only in a configuration with a TN matrix. The keyboard is pleasant, with two-level backlighting, nothing is squeezed anywhere, although the cursor buttons are for some reason narrowed as on office models. And this is still a gaming laptop, it turns out somehow strange.
But there is a full-size digital block.
Touchpad
The second controversial point is the touchpad. It has an excellent surface, large, pleasant to the touch, the sensitivity is good, but the buttons are so-so.
And from time to time it can behave strangely, the cursor freezes or twitches. All the controversial moments ended at this point, a solid wine begins.
Interfaces
The first is interfaces. There are full-size HDMI and Ethernet ports, three USB 3.0 ports - two on the right, one on the left, a card reader and a headphone jack.
Nothing at the front, blowing out the cooling system at the back. There is no drive either - great.
Performance
The second wine is productivity. Inside the laptop is a fast quad-core Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, the latest generation of Kaby Lake. It operates at frequencies from 2800 to 3800 MHz. A discrete graphics card from NVIDIA is also the latest generation 1050 Ti. Yes, this is the youngest model in the line, but with 4 GB of video memory.
Tests
The chip heats up to 67 degrees under load. In the Fire Strike Extreme test - 3500 parrots, in Unigine Heaven on the ultra, an average of 34 fps came out. But it's better to watch it in games.
If you put an outrageous graphics preset with hairwork in The Witcher, you get 30 fps - switch to "high" and turn off hairworks - 50. It is quite adequate for an entry-level gaming laptop. Assassin's Creed: Unity manages to get 25 frames at maximum settings, but at high fps it grows to 55 - quite a good result. Heating is not strong, quite acceptable, there are no special hot zones.
