If your system has an Intel video chip built into the processor and a discrete nVidia graphics card, then first you need to install the drivers on Intel (/ (Windows XP) / (Windows 7, Vista and Windows 8)), and then on nVidia (/ (32-bit) / (64-bit) (Windows 7, Vista and Windows eight)). If you have an Intel video chip complemented by a discrete AMD graphics card, it is often sufficient to install the AMD switchable video driver (/ (Windows 7, Vista and Windows 8)), which already contains the Intel drivers. If you have AMD processor with a built-in video core and there is a discrete AMD graphics card, then it is enough to install only one AMD driver for switchable graphics.
Important note: continuing the theme of switchable graphics, it should be noted that Windows XP does not support switching video cards. This means that only one video card can work normally there. This means that if the BIOS does not have the ability to disable the video chip built into the processor, then a discrete graphics card will not work in Windows XP... This applies both to systems with an Intel video chip and discrete nVidia or AMD video cards, as well as systems with an integrated AMD video chip and a discrete AMD video card.
Together with the drivers, a utility for configuring the video card is installed on the video. For Intel video chips, this is Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel, for nVidia - NVidia Control Panel, and for AMD - Catalyst Control center ... You do not need to install all the drivers that are on the page. It is important to remember the order of installing the driver for a laptop (or other device) and take into account that the site offers several versions of the same software.
